00:00In Venezuela it's been almost 20 days since the two 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes struck
00:06exactly at June 24 at 6.05 p.m. Progressively the citizens are returning to their normal activities
00:15and are overcoming this complex situation. Right now our correspondent Belen de los Santos is in
00:21Caracas and will show us how it's the current situation there. Hello Belen. Hello Lorena exactly as you were saying
00:31the idea is to see a little bit how Caracas is feeling how everyone here is just going around their
00:39day as you were saying a little bit more than two weeks have passed since the double earthquakes of June
00:4624th. We are actually in Boyacá Avenue or La Cota Mil as it is better known
00:51here. This is an important highway north of Caracas that actually separates the city from the Avila Mount range and
01:00on Sundays in particular La Cota Mil becomes a walkway for people to exercise, to do different activities, to walk.
01:10It is a family activity and what we're seeing right now is La Cota Mil that looks of course a
01:17little bit different than what it used to look like.
01:21every Sunday when people usually come here different because of course there is less activity less people that are coming
01:30here for some this is the first time after the twin earthquakes but also it is slowly slowly day by
01:39day week by week recovering that first activity. We were talking to a lot of the parents here and also
01:47the kids what we're having here is this is the team
01:50of rollerblades they're coming here to train and talking to the kids and also talking to the parents who are
01:57bringing them here. Some came here also last Sunday. Some are coming here for the first time. They were telling
02:05us first of all that of course it feels different. People are still very sad. People are still continuing to
02:12process what happened here but also the importance Lorena of two things.
02:17first resuming the routines resuming the activities is an important way of continuing life. It is not about forgetting what
02:26happened both here in Caracas and particularly in other affected states for example in La Guayra but slowly coming back
02:34to life because what comes next has to do with what is going to be the process of recovery and
02:42having a balance between what used to be the normal activities and dealing with the
02:47what happened here and affected the entire population really and also the need to distract and do different things particularly
02:55for the kids. So most of the parents here were telling us the importance not only of resuming activities but
03:03also of for the kids to have a place to do something outside to do something that will keep their
03:10minds away from what was really the trauma of the twin earthquakes. You know that a lot of kids
03:16had a really rough time of course processing what happened on June 24th. A lot of them continue to be
03:25very scared for example particularly inside and social networks do not contribute to all of that climate. So coming here
03:35being able to resume activities being outside and continuing in this case the training for and the practice for their
03:43rollerblade teams. Well that is an important
03:46step forward in this step forward in this Caracas that is slowly week by week resuming its activities. Lorena. Thank
03:54you so much.
