00:00In the American League, we'll see the health of Shea Langeleers.
00:03He's the starting catcher, but he hasn't played this weekend.
00:05I'm not sure what's going on with him.
00:07They brought up another catcher, did the A's this weekend.
00:09So maybe he's in, maybe he's out.
00:11We'll see.
00:11Vladimir Guerrero Jr. thanked the fans last night for voting him in,
00:15but he will not play or attend the All-Star game this season.
00:19So that means Nick Kurtz will start at first base.
00:20Ernie Clement, Jr. Caminero, will start at third.
00:23He'll also be in the Home Run Derby.
00:25Then you have Witt.
00:25Trout will be a question mark for this game, obviously.
00:28Buxton, Judge won't play, and Alvarez.
00:32So, you know, fans get so upset, Tom, when these names come out.
00:35And then you look at that and you say,
00:36I could see three or four names that aren't even going to be in this game.
00:39So we'll have so many changes before it all gets started.
00:43Yeah, this is the process.
00:45You know, I think there should be some type of process
00:47that incorporates the fan vote plus manager vote or GM vote,
00:50whatever you want to call it.
00:51But we're going to see players that just can't physically play,
00:54whether it's Trout or Judge or whomever might be on either roster.
00:56They're just not going to play.
00:58You know, Vladi is taking a little bit of a different course.
01:00Obviously, Shane Legoliers is a newer injury.
01:03But the Vladi story, I'm fine with this.
01:06I think this is a good step for a player just to say,
01:10I'm not up to it.
01:11I'm not feeling that I deserve of it.
01:14Whatever it might be that he just doesn't want to be there.
01:16He doesn't deserve or he doesn't think he deserves to be there.
01:21Guerrero will take some time off and then return to the Blue Jays.
01:24Here are the all-star reserves, including first-time all-star Travis Bazzana
01:29of the Cleveland Guardians, also involved in the game.
01:32Dylan Dingler, Ben Rice, Miguel Vargas having a breakout season
01:36for the White Sox.
01:37Randy Orozarena, Bellinger, Riley Green.
01:41Tampa Bay gets their all-star.
01:43And Yandy Diaz feels like Tampa Bay should have five all-stars.
01:46I think they ended up getting three, though, with Rasmussen
01:50and Baker, if I'm not mistaken.
01:52Brian Baker, right?
01:52That's the other one as well.
01:54Let's take a look at the pitchers also, Sam.
01:56Let's flip it over to that.
01:57Schlittler, Cease, Joe Ryan, Parker Messick.
02:00Hey, Boston put somebody in the all-star game, right?
02:02They got to do it.
02:03Ranger Suarez, Drew Rasmussen, Michael Waka's an all-star.
02:07Louis Varlin, Kate Smith, Baker, Aroldis Chapman.
02:10And then Texas' all-star this season is left-handed reliever Jacob Latz.
02:15So, yeah, again, we'll find out who's starting next weekend,
02:18and then these names will change as well.
02:21Yeah, I think it's a good list.
02:23I think, you know, at face value, I think the NL pitchers are a little bit better.
02:26But it's good to see a mix of, you know, young pitchers, young players,
02:29whether it be a Bazana and a Messick from Cleveland.
02:31They're getting their, you know, time in the spotlight.
02:34You know, we're going to see some veteran pitchers a la Joe Ryan.
02:37How much longer is he going to be on the Twins, as we've discussed?
02:39But I think it's a good mix.
02:41As of now, I would say that the NL certainly has a bit of an edge
02:44when it comes to pitching, at least.
02:46Yeah, definitely.
02:47I also mentioned another Red Sox.
02:48Aroldis Chapman, but probably just a Red Sox for now.
02:51I don't know where he's going to end up maybe in, let's say, 20, 30 days from now.
02:55But we get to this time of the year, Tom.
02:58You know, the other thing that could happen is as soon as we get out of the break,
03:00players get traded.
03:01But there's a lot of discussion because of the CBA and everything surrounding it.
03:05Those bigger contracts may have to wait.
03:07Yeah, certainly have to wait.
03:08And, you know, teams are going to be hesitant.
03:10Some teams are going to be willing to call in.
03:12We're going to have everything, you know, up, down, left, right, and center
03:14to find out what teams are willing to do as it lead into the deadline.
