01:30Thank you for being with us.
01:31This is from the field.
01:32I'm Carlos Montero.
01:33You know we are talking about the World Cup today.
01:37Very important matches start, you know, the round of 16.
01:42We are going to give you all the details in a little bit.
01:45But let's be up to date with what's going on in Venezuela, a tragedy that involves all of us.
01:51You know the headquarters of Telesur are in Caracas for all our friends to work under this condition.
01:58Let's give you the latest number.
02:01The tolls of Venezuela Twin Earthquakes surpassed 2,954 to be exact.
02:11That's 16,592 people are insured.
02:14They rescued 6,462.
02:18That's something that got my attention.
02:24Aftershocks, after those two big earthquakes of last Wednesday, the 942, the volunteers, 26,984 people are working over there
02:38to help the people who suffer those earthquakes.
02:42Let's go to La Guaira.
02:44Hugo Presa is in communication with us.
02:47Hugo, what's the situation right now?
02:50How are you?
02:54Muy bien, Carlos.
02:55Muy bien, Carlos.
02:57It's a pleasure for me to be here.
03:03I'm in the zone of the disaster caused by the nature.
03:12The consequences are right behind me, one of the buildings that collapsed, one of the 885 buildings damaged or collapsed
03:23by the force of nature.
03:24This Saturday, the rescue and searching for survivors has continued, but to this moment, no rescue has been performed.
03:37There was one in execution, but sadly, the person died.
03:47The jobs of remotion of rubble and the search for people, the work of heavy machinery continue, and the activities
03:59have been more continuous.
04:04And those buildings in a collapsed situation will be intervened during the following days.
04:11International and national rescuers have continued their activities in these rubble mountains.
04:193,300 rescuers from different countries that received an award today by the hands of the acting president, Delsi.
04:36Here at La Guayra, one of the most affected zones by these earthquakes.
04:43I can reassure that this Saturday, the electrical service has been restored in approximately 95 percent, as well as the
04:54current water.
05:00Vehicles regarding main streets and avenues of the city is regular, and there are some limitations regarding the zones where
05:13rescues are being performed.
05:16There's one order, a decree from the acting president that is continue the rescuing activities until every single possibility of
05:32finding people alive is clearly impossible.
05:39In the following days, we will have the following stage regarding the cleaning of the city.
05:53Thank you, Hugo, Hugo Presa, from La Guayra.
05:58What Hugo was saying makes sense.
05:59You know, when they say there is no more possibility to find anybody alive, they go to the next step.
06:06The next step is to use the heavy machinery to remove all that rubble.
06:11But Hugo was telling you all, was telling us also, that today they saw there was somebody under the rubble.
06:18The specialists say it even happened 10 days since the two strong earthquakes.
06:23If somebody is under the rubble, but he has access to water and to food, can live many, many days,
06:30and that's what they saw.
06:31The rescuer today, but that person was dead.
06:34But talking about rescuers, we want to show you how tough they are working, how tough it is under the
06:40circumstances, but even though they don't give up.
06:45Four days after Venezuela's devastating to an earthquake, the sound of heavy machinery competed with something even more powerful, the
06:53voices of rescuers refusing to give up.
06:55Across shattered neighborhoods, thousands of Venezuelan and international emergency workers have searched relentlessly for signs of life, turning scenes of
07:05destruction into stories of hope.
07:07Since the earthquake struck on June 24th, firefighters, civil protection teams, members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, police, medical
07:16personnel, and volunteers have worked around the clock,
07:20often in dangerous conditions, raising against time to reach survivors trapped beneath the rubble.
07:26The rescue has stretched far beyond Venezuela's borders.
07:30More than 4,000 search and rescue specialists from over 20 countries, alongside highly trained rescue dogs,
07:38have joined local emergency crews in one of the largest international rescue operations ever mounted in Latin America.
07:44Together, they've searched collapsed homes, apartment towers, and hospitals, proving that when disaster strikes,
07:53Solidarity speaks very high in every language.
07:57The work has been exhausting.
07:59Every collapsed building presents a new challenge.
08:03Aftershocks threaten already unstable structures.
08:06Yet the search continues.
08:08For rescue workers, every sound beneath the rubble offers hope.
08:12Every hand on cover reminds them why they cannot stop.
08:16Behind every rescue is a team.
08:19Engineers shaking unstable walls.
08:21Medics preparing emergency treatment.
08:24Canine handlers trusting their dogs' instincts.
08:28Heavy equipment operators moving the breeze with precision.
08:31And volunteers delivering food, water, and comfort to families waiting nearby.
08:36Their work extends beyond finding survivors.
08:39They help recover loved ones with dignity, support displaced families, and begin the long road toward rebuilding communities forever changed.
08:48As rescue operations gradually transition into recovery, thousands of responders remain on the ground,
08:54continuing a mission driving by hope, service, and the belief that every life is worth fighting for.
09:04Absolutely.
09:05Thank you, Denise.
09:08Hernan Hill is a symbol because he was under the rubble eight days, and the rescue team found him alive.
09:18Telesur had the chance to talk to him.
09:20It was an exclusive interview.
09:23He's in the hospital, of course.
09:25But listen to what he has to say about those eight days he stayed under the rubble.
09:32I wanted to go out of the mud, but at the end of the day, I said I was getting
09:37close to him.
09:39I were in the hospital.
09:44I was getting close to him.
09:47And I was in the hospital.
09:49When I came to go out of time, I said I was getting close to him because I was going
09:53to go out of time.
09:56I thought I was going to stay there, but no.
10:04I did the first one and then the second one.
10:10The first contact with the rescatist was like...
10:14I don't know if it was dark, I don't know if it was...
10:20It was a sound.
10:21Yes, it was a sound, yes.
10:26They were like...
10:28They were like talking, like talking, like talking, like talking, like talking.
10:32They were removing ashes, but from far away.
10:38What I did was to shout, and ask for help.
10:41I never stopped asking.
10:46And I kept my calm, because that was a very important factor to keep me in calm.
10:57I didn't lose my strength in that moment.
11:00Because the space was very small, so it was not easy.
11:13Because I didn't drink water.
11:16I said that I was going to die.
11:18There were so many things in my head.
11:21I said that I was going to die.
11:24I said that I was going to die.
11:25But God was God.
11:30He was there.
11:32And I gave those people, all those rescatists, to come to me.
11:45Thank you, Hernan Gil, for this interview under the circumstances.
11:49And he was saying something that reminds me of another thing.
11:51Be calm.
11:52He was telling himself, be calm.
11:54During the earthquake, we were going live with our show from the field.
11:59And our producer, Hillary, when they start to move everything in Caracas, that's what she was telling the team.
12:05Be calm.
12:06Be calm.
12:07We are live.
12:08Be calm.
12:08It really surprised me.
12:10We have a piece about that.
12:11You can find it on the internet.
12:14I think it's in Spanish yet, but maybe we are going to have a version in English.
12:18But let's go with solidarity from all over the world.
12:22Yesterday, Colombia and Argentina played.
12:26Argentina was really scared, but go to the next round.
12:29Colombia, too.
12:30But what I want to show you right now, two of those, the start of those two teams, Lionel Messi
12:36and James Rodriguez, they make time after the match to send a message to Venezuelan people.
12:44I want to send a message to Venezuelan people.
12:48We know for the terrible thanks that are happening.
12:52It's something difficult to explain.
12:58And I want to send a support to all those people who are suffering a lot, who lost their family,
13:05who do not find a family, who are with uncertainty, who do not know what happened or what happened.
13:13And we send a lot of strength from here.
13:16From Venezuela to Venezuela.
13:17And the last one, a word for Venezuela, a brother of the country that I was born there
13:22and we are having a hard time.
13:24You have a lot of fans of Venezuela.
13:26We have a lot of strength.
13:28I have a lot of courage.
13:29I hope that they can help their children.
13:32We have a lot of courage and willómen and hope that they can win.
13:40I have a lot of friends.
13:41And we have a lot of friends who can help with which they can.
13:45I've already set up my cost.
13:47I do not know how much time I want to ask how.
13:49But I invite them.
13:52I do also invite them to make them.

16:00We are playing for Venezuela.
16:03We don't have pain and pain, but here in Mexico we have our hands open to support them.
16:09God bless you and many blessings.
16:13FUERZA VENEZUELA!
16:25Let's talk about the World Cup.
16:27Today one of the co-hosts went home, or better to say stay home.
16:33Even they didn't play Canada.
16:35I'm talking Canada, Morocco beats the World Cup hosts 3-0.
16:39And advanced to the quarter-finals.
16:40The first team to advance to the quarter-finals.
16:43Asedino Nagy scored twice to lead Morocco to a 3-0 win over Canada.
16:52It's the first African nation to reach the quarter-finals more than one.
16:58You remember in the last World Cup in Qatar, he finished fourth.
17:04Croatia beat them, but they played a fantastic tournament and they are doing the same in this tournament.
17:10The coach said, and I think he's right, we are not anymore the future.
17:15We are the present and we are here.
17:19Right now, a big surprise in the World Cup.
17:23France is staying under Paraguay.
17:26France is the favorite.
17:28Paraguay never beat France in a World Cup.
17:30But so far, right now they are playing the second half and they are 0-0.
17:38Paraguay has a very strong defense that Mbappe, Leompe, they couldn't do much.
17:45There are some friction.
17:46You know, Paraguay played a very strong football.
17:51And the Brazilian, I'm sorry, the French people couldn't do much.
17:59So far, they are 15 minutes of the second half.
18:03And Miron also is playing a good game.
18:05So far, even not 100%.
18:08Let's go about last night.
18:10The Colombian national team did the game in the round of 32.
18:15The tricolor defeated Ghana.
18:17It was a close match.
18:19It wasn't very exciting compared with the match before.
18:22That was Argentina.
18:24Cabo Verde, but they played in Kansas City.
18:28Colombians dominate.
18:29Even the Ghana team, they have more ability.
18:33They have more athleticism.
18:34But they couldn't do much and Ghana is going home.
18:38Colombians, they are on the tournament looking to do better than ever in a tournament like this.
18:47Argentina.
18:48Argentina was the favorite.
18:50Cabo Verde.
18:51They say Cabo Verde, the African team, has only 1% to beat Argentina.
18:57How close they were to beat Argentina.
19:00How a wonderful game they played.
19:04Argentina beat them in extra time.
19:07We are going to talk on details about this game in a little bit.
19:13But now we want to go with Charlie to get Charlie's reaction and what he thinks about the World Cup.
19:21And what are the predictions the people he finds on the streets of Mexico City are telling him.
19:27Go ahead, Charlie.
19:29Hey, Carlos, how are you?
19:31It's official.
19:32We have our first quarter finalist of the 2026 World Cup.
19:36Morocco beat Canada 3-0.
19:39But it wasn't an easy match in the first half.
19:42There were no goals.
19:44And if you look at the statistics, you will think the game finished in a different way.
19:49Canada had 10 shots and Morocco had only 5.
19:55But the only shots that matter are the shots that go inside of the goal.
20:00And 3 of those 5 shots Morocco went in.
20:03So Morocco will face against France or Paraguay later tonight.
20:10Speaking of that big match, I had the chance to talk with some people here in Mexico to see who
20:17they think is going to win.
20:18And this is what they had to say.
20:20France 3, Paraguay 1.
20:23France.
20:24How much?
20:252-0 or 3-0.
20:27France 2-1.
20:31France 2-0.
20:33France 3-1.
20:35France 3-0.
20:37France 2-0.
20:39France 3-0.
20:41France 3-0.
20:42Well, there you have it, Carlos.
20:43Like most of the days, I agree with the fans.
20:45I think France will beat Paraguay.
20:48But let's not forget, Paraguay already beat a big European football nation, Germany, in the last round.
20:55But I don't want French people to get too scared.
20:59I'm going to help you guys with a statistic.
21:02France and Paraguay have already played 2 times in the World Cups.
21:06The first time in 1958 where France beat Paraguay 7-3.
21:11And then 40 years later, in 1998, France also beat Paraguay once again.
21:20The only 2 times they played, France won.
21:23We will see.
21:24This World Cup is full of surprises.
21:26Back to you, Carlos.
21:29Maybe we are going to have a big surprise today.
21:33The game is still with no goals.
21:35Zero, Paraguay, zero France.
21:37Let's talk about yesterday in detail because it was too much.
21:41Let's talk first about Colombia.
21:42For Colombia, it was complicated.
21:45Like I told you before, they beat Ghana 1-0.
21:52They played Kansas City.
21:53It was a nice game at the beginning.
21:55Nothing compared to what we saw before.
21:58John Arias in the 14-minute score.
22:02Following a great assist from Luis Diaz, the superstar of Colombia.
22:07And that was enough.
22:09They didn't need any more to seal this victory to go to the second round.
22:15But let's talk about Argentina.
22:17That was an amazing, amazing match.
22:19I hope you have a chance to see that match.
22:22If not, please go to YouTube.
22:24Try to watch it because I think it was one of the best matches of the World Cup.
22:30As an Argentine, I wanted Argentina to win.
22:34But Cabo Verde was playing so hard.
22:36Was playing so great.
22:38But then I said, if Cabo Verde beats the champion, Lionel Messi, who faced Bosinia, the goalkeeper, many times.
22:47And Bosinia was the one who did better than Messi.
22:52It was an absolutely great match.
22:55They finished 2-2 in the regular time.
22:58They go to the extra time.
23:00And that's when they scored Argentina 3-2.
23:04And they sent them to the next round.
23:06Very amazing.
23:07Very important for Cabo Verde to play the same level of Argentina.
23:13And Bosinia wanted to play against Messi.
23:17He did that.
23:18He did fantastic.
23:19And many people are saying right now that Bosinia could play with Messi, Inter of Miami,
23:25because David Beckham, the owner of the Inter of Miami, is interesting to hire Bosinia,
23:31who is a free agent, doesn't have a team.
23:34But how important is this small nation, island in Africa, half a million people,
23:40how important is for them to make it to the first World Cup and did so great?
23:46Look at this story.
23:50They may be leaving the World Cup, but they leave with something no one can take away.
23:55Cape Verde's remarkable journey has captured hearts across the globe,
23:58proving that football isn't measured by the size of a country, but by the size of its belief.
24:03In a tournament filled with football's biggest names,
24:06one of its smallest nations became one of its greatest stories.
24:10With a population of just over half a million people scattered across ten volcanic islands
24:15in the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Verde arrived at this World Cup carrying little more than hope
24:19and left carrying the admiration of the world.
24:22A country many considered outsiders became one of the defining stories of the tournament.
24:26For the first time, Cape Verde reached the knockout stage of a FIFA World Cup,
24:31earning respect not because of where they came from, but because of how they played.
24:35Disciplined, fearless, proud.
24:37Leading that journey was Captain Bosinia.
24:40He became far more than a goalkeeper.
24:42He became a symbol that talent from a small island nation can stand alongside the very best.
24:47For Cape Verde, this tournament wasn't built overnight.
24:49It is the reward for years of investment, sacrifice, and generations of players
24:54who dreamed of putting their flag on football's biggest map.
24:57This team's greatest victory will be not the goals they scored, not the matches they won,
25:03but the belief they created.
25:05This Cape Verde team leaves something powerful behind,
25:08a generation that now knows the impossible can become possible.
25:11The tournament may be over, but for Cape Verde football, this is only the beginning.
25:20What a great story.
25:22This is all for today.
25:24Tomorrow, big day.
25:25England is coming back to the Azteca Stadium after 40 years.
25:29We have a special coverage.
25:31See you all tomorrow.
25:32Have a great evening.
25:33Bye-bye.
25:41Let's pray.
25:42Let us pray.
25:42Let us pray.
25:44Let us pray.
25:46How many of you pray?
