02:48the only way I can do that is if you let me know through the Fro Wrestling Sound Offline, 267
02:52-642-1160,
02:54and I will get to those questions or comments in a future episode.
02:57Tonight, WWE is so confusing to me right now.
03:00Now, let's start off with the WWE is now looking for a referee or two to expand the referee repertoire,
03:09increase the quality of the refereeing.
03:11They actually brought in former AEW star Layla Hirsch, who also is a former OVW,
03:15or actually, I think she's back in OVW, a women's wrestler,
03:19trying to get her to do a tryout earlier in the year to be a referee.
03:23Now, it looks like they're trying to bring in some more referees,
03:25trying to expand the referee, I don't know which, a talent pool, so to speak.
03:30And, you know, so they're bringing in talent for the refereeing.
03:34We've talked in previous episodes about other talent that they're bringing in.
03:38The big news about the potentially signing of Richard Holiday,
03:43which, again, that's looking more and more like it's going to happen.
03:46Richard Holiday went on social media, and he actually put a shout-out to Zilla Fatou,
03:49who is also rumored to be signed with WWE.
03:51And he said, hey, look, can I join you as an oose?
03:54Which I think was hilarious, because it's definitely teasing that he's coming to WWE.
03:58WWE and WWE, again, in a talent acquisition mode.
04:01If they're going to SummerSlam, they're going to have talent tryouts there.
04:04So they're always acquiring talent, but then they cut people.
04:08And then when they're not cutting people, they've got so much talent,
04:12and half of it doesn't make it to television.
04:14It's very frustrating.
04:15I don't understand it.
04:16That doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.
04:19And then, you know, you look at other companies,
04:21there's more and more talent becoming available all the time.
04:23TNA just recently had releases requested by The Sinner and The Saint,
04:27which are Judas Icarus and Travis Williams,
04:29who, like, let's be honest, they didn't do, you know,
04:33revolutionary stuff in their short time with TNA the last two years or so.
04:36But certainly not a good look to see more talents requesting
04:40and getting their releases from TNA.
04:42And the word came out this week that TNA Wrestling is not offering long-term deals.
04:46Everything they're doing is short-term.
04:48There's none of this, like, two, three, four, five-year deal stuff
04:51that WWE and AEW are doing, and it's somewhat concerning, you know,
04:55because how do you have long-term planning, long-term storytelling,
05:00and put out a premium product when you just move to a great network
05:03when you can't have the validation that your talent is going to be there all the time?
05:09And that's really the issue we have right now
05:11because they have too much of their talent that hasn't been,
05:14and people that they've let go, like Sammy Callahan,
05:17who apparently now is working as a producer for AEW.
05:20He was at the July 8th show of Dynamite
05:23and then at the July 11th collision taping.
05:26Apparently he was there again this week doing their shows.
05:30So Sammy Callahan, I mean, talk about a brilliant, brilliant mind for the business
05:34who really should have been in line to take over the creative in TNA
05:38if they really were going to move on from Tommy Dreamer,
05:40and instead they lose him, he goes to the competition,
05:43and he's going to be a valuable, valuable asset for AEW,
05:47something they really needed to inject some life into their product.
05:50And, you know, I'm actually kind of surprised WWE didn't swoop in and try to grab him.
05:54He does have a history with WWE, but he has one with AEW as well.
05:57His history with WWE, he used to be Solomon Crowe, I believe was the name,
06:01back in the day in NXT,
06:02but he's also very good friends with Jon Moxley, who is in AEW.
06:05So I guess if you had to pick one or the other, you want to hang with your buddies
06:09rather than the company where it didn't work out for you.
06:12But I do think that that would have been a great gift for anybody,
06:15especially somebody like AEW who's got so much talent also on the roster.
06:18They got the same problem WWE has.
06:20Too many talents, not enough TV time for everybody,
06:23and they still keep acquiring people.
06:25We expect that the New Day are going to be showing up this week or the week after.
06:30Maybe they wait to redemption or something like that
06:32to set up some big match at Wembley.
06:34I actually am kind of hoping we're going to see like
06:36the Young Bucks versus the New Day versus Edge and Christian versus FTR
06:42in like a fatal four-way TLC match at that show.
06:47That'd be awesome, but I digress.
06:49All these companies, they just keep signing everybody under the sun
06:52and then not having enough time to feature any of them.
06:55Very, very frustrating.
06:56Something I really need them to start working on
06:58because it takes away from the potential of what they could do.
07:02And I love that Brian Alvarez was on Wrestling Observer Radio.
07:05And he was like, and look, be very clear.
07:08He is a huge AEW fan, but he's also a great commentary
07:12because he's willing to give them the flack when they deserve it.
07:16And he said it himself.
07:17He's like, you know who really wants AEW to pass WWE?
07:20He does.
07:21But he's also going to be honest and critique them when they need to be.
07:24And they are like, this past week, Dynamite.
07:27Dynamite was a solid show.
07:28There was a lot of great talent on the show, but a lot of it doesn't make sense.
07:33And there's no build.
07:33And Hangman Page is coming back.
07:35And you let people know that 18 hours before the show comes out and things like that.
07:38Just stupid little things they do that mess up their product as well.
07:42So I don't know.
07:43Right now, we've got to find a way to get more talent on TV.
07:46We've got to get all of our talents healthy.
07:48And when they are healthy, use them.
07:50Like I saw a video just today.
07:52Britt Baker doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge for Rebels.
07:56You know, obviously to raise money for the cause in general, but also to support her girl, Rebel, who was
08:00her manager in AEW for a while.
08:02What was really interesting was the people she named to take the Ice Bucket Challenge.
08:07Chris Jericho, Chris Statlander, I think, was one of them.
08:12She mentioned Adam Cole, baby, which I thought was hilarious since they used to be a couple.
08:17I don't know.
08:17Maybe they're back to being a couple.
08:19Nobody hears from either one of them anymore.
08:20So you never know.
08:21And obviously, they must still be on good terms.
08:22She named Moxley and Renee Paquette together, hopefully.
08:27She named a whole host of talents.
08:29I want to say Darby Allin was in there, too.
08:31The Young Bucks were in there.
08:33There was a lot of people she named.
08:34Hopefully, they take the challenge.
08:36And hopefully, all of you do, too.
08:37You know, raise awareness and money for a great cause.
08:40Not just because Rebel's doing it, but because anybody affected with ALS.
08:43I just lost somebody very special to me recently to ALS.
08:46It's a sad situation.
08:48And we really need to find a cure for that.
08:49But definitely cool to see somebody getting involved in that way.
08:53That's all the time we have for this episode.
08:54Check back with us next episode.
08:56We'll run down the latest wrestling news and rumors.
