00:00An opposition MP has called for mandatory whipping against those behind AI-generated pornographic deepfakes.
00:08Abdul Kalib Abdullah of PN said harsher penalties were needed because victims could suffer severe psychological harm and long-term
00:16trauma.
00:17He said this in the Dewan Rakyat today while debating the Cybercrimes Bill 2026.
00:22Kalib cited cases where images of university students and female social media influencers were turned into fake pornographic content.
00:31He said the proposed penalty of a RM300,000 fine of five years jail should be increased,
00:37warning that similar cases overseas had led some victims to take their own lives.
00:43Sharlina Abdel Rashid of PH called for emergency blocking orders to force platforms to remove deepfake content within hours,
00:51especially when children are involved.
00:54She said no child should have to plead on the internet for the image to be taken down.
01:00Siti Amina Aching of BN also urged faster coordination between the police, MCMC,
01:05and the National Scam Response Centre once a police report is lodged.
