00:00A new poll suggests the race for Maine's U.S. Senate seat may be tighter than it first appeared.
00:05We have talked a lot about this specific race because the Democrat, Graham Plattner, is plagued
00:11by scandals. Despite the, to put it mildly, bad PR, Plattner holds a narrow two-point lead over
00:18incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins. The poll also found that nearly half of likely voters
00:23consider Plattner too extreme. According to the New York Times, Portland Press-Herald,
00:27Siena College poll, Collins holds a significant edge over Plattner on questions of character,
00:33moral values, and her ability to deliver federal funding for Maine. Still, even with all that,
00:38he's a slight lead over the sitting senator. Plattner's campaign has been rocked by a series
00:42of controversies, including allegations of abuse by a former girlfriend, sexting while married,
00:48offensive Reddit posts, and a tattoo linked to a notorious Nazi SS symbol. Now, he's denied being
00:55abusive and said he was unaware of the symbol's meanings. Big picture? Democrats view Maine as
00:59their best opportunity to flip a Republican-held Senate seat this year, while Collins is seeking
01:04a sixth term, and it's coming down to a coin toss.
