00:00And speaking of that embattled Maine Senate hopeful, Graham Plattner, he made a visit to Capitol Hill on Tuesday in
00:07an apparent attempt to quell the fears of his fellow Democrats that he has even more skeletons in his closet.
00:15The Post's political reporter, Ryan King, was outside that meeting on Tuesday when Plattner paid his visit, and he filled
00:21me in.
00:21Graham Plattner appeared to be a damage control in D.C. on Tuesday. He met with Senate Democrats in right
00:29behind me, the DSCC, the official Senate Democrat campaign arm headquarters right near the U.S. Capitol.
00:39And it's not entirely clear what was said in the meeting. It lasted for over an hour and a half.
00:50And Plattner, we had seen him enter with a suit, and we saw at least half a dozen senators, but
00:56there were probably more go inside, including Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Adam Schiff, and others.
01:04And, you know, it comes amid this firestorm that he is facing, amid the revelations that he allegedly sexted while
01:13married, and also the various comments he's made on Reddit, suggesting that a Purple Heart veteran doesn't deserve to live,
01:24making comments about sexual assault, and a whole variety of really controversial remarks.
01:34And when Graham came to the DSCC, he did not field any questions from reporters. He was very quiet going
01:41in and coming out.
01:43But right now, Senate Democrats are at least publicly refraining from distancing themselves from him.
01:51There is a range. We see some Democratic senators just kind of sidestep the issue and just say they want
01:58to win in Maine.
01:59And then we see some senators like Bernie Sanders, who briefly addressed the press before coming to this meeting, saying
02:05that he stands by Plattner.
02:08And the only Democrat senator so far that we've heard that's been really outspoken against Plattner has been John Fetterman
02:17from Pennsylvania, of course, who had been feuding with him for some time.
02:21So it's pretty significant that Plattner was coming down to D.C. to visit with Senate Democrats when his primary
02:27is just a week away.
02:28So it clearly appears to be some damage control. And it seems like he's going to head back up to
02:34Maine fairly soon for the primary home stretch in his Senate race.
