00:00Embattled Maine Democratic Senate hopeful Graham Plattner is now just embattled Graham Plattner.
00:06The scandal-plagued progressive bowed out of the race Wednesday night,
00:09two days after the latest and most serious allegations against him surfaced,
00:13that he allegedly raped an ex-girlfriend back in 2021.
00:17We are suspending campaign operations.
00:23This is incredibly difficult because I know that some will think it's an admission of guilt.
00:29And it most certainly is not.
00:31We're not doing it because of the allegations.
00:33We're doing it because of the structures that are being taken away from us by those in power.
00:37He went on to blame large forces, corporate media,
00:40and the political establishment for trying to force him out of the race.
00:43After the rape allegations came out this week,
00:45just about everyone on the left who backed his candidacy pulled their support.
00:49But he still spent the last two days with his staff looking for a way forward
00:53or at the very least a way to stay relevant.
00:56Plattner reportedly wanted to pick his own successor.
00:58And, well, that ain't happening.
01:00Now that he's left the race, the main Democratic Party will do the picking,
01:04and they have until July 27th to do it.
01:06Whoever they choose will face five-term Senator Susan Collins.
01:09Before this whole Plattner fiasco, Collins was seen as vulnerable.
01:14But now it's anybody's guess.
01:16But now it's guys.
01:17I'm going to upgrade it.
01:17By reading.
01:17Today's scenario.
01:17Before this whole Plattner chries have back now.
01:17I love thataron.
