00:00The Federal Court has deferred its decision in MOA MP Saeed Sadiq Saeed Abdul Rahman's
00:05criminal case to July 13.
00:07Court of Appeal President Abu Bakar Jaiz said the postponement was necessary as Justice
00:13Ruzima Ghazali was unwell and on medical leave.
00:16Abu Bakar, who sat alone this morning, said it would not be appropriate for the Apex Court
00:21to deliver the ruling today.
00:23In 2021, Saeed Sadiq was charged with abetting Rafiq Hakim Razali in the purported misappropriation
00:29of RM1 million in Bersatu Yut's funds.
00:32He was also charged with misappropriating RM120,000 and laundering RM100,000 through his bank
00:39accounts.
00:39In 2023, the High Court convicted Saeed Sadiq and sentenced him to seven years jail, two
00:45strokes of the rotan and a RM10 million fine.
00:48However, the Court of Appeal overturned that decision and acquitted him last year.
00:52The present appeal brought by the prosecution seeks to restore the conviction and sentence.
00:57The appeal was heard six months ago by a three-member bench that included Justice Colin Lawrence-Sequeira.
01:04I'm Radeep Gill, FMT.
