00:00All right, Rob, obviously I'm laying it on a little thick,
00:03but this felt different, didn't it?
00:05It felt pretty good.
00:06I mean, when you kick the ass of the Yankees four games
00:08and sweep it like this, I mean, is there anything to it?
00:12Are you feeling any kind of energy that wasn't there beforehand?
00:15Well, first of all, I always feel energy when I'm on with you guys,
00:18yelling McFarlane, feeling ace of spades.
00:21Are you kidding me?
00:22You could be like 0-1-62.
00:25You have ace of spades going on.
00:26It doesn't make a difference.
00:27You feel good about everything.
00:28And I also, before we go, I also want to know, Ken,
00:32I heard Ken, his life lesson was something he lives by.
00:35Yes.
00:36That you wait as long as possible before you actually do something.
00:39Did you do that when you said that J.D. Martinez
00:42was never going to play the outfield in 2017?
00:45That was a kerosene take that just didn't come true.
00:47Different from my radio career.
00:49I'm talking about personal life.
00:50Personal life decisions.
00:51Okay.
00:52All right.
00:53I get it.
00:53So when you eat those gummy bears in the press box,
00:55you think five times.
00:57I do, yeah.
00:59But anyway, so here's the thing, guys.
01:02It's weird walking around today.
01:04I was in the post office.
01:06I was, you know, here and there.
01:08And I had more people.
01:10I just overheard more people talk about the Red Sox.
01:12Not even, like, to me.
01:13But talk about the Red Sox.
01:15And I felt like what I came away from off of these four games,
01:19off of last night, was that people are so desperate for good things.
01:25We just want good things.
01:27We just want a taste of what summer should be around here.
01:30And that's the vibe I got today.
01:32So to answer your question, Rich, yeah, yeah.
01:34You know, I think that's exactly what last night did.
01:37I thought a win would have probably done that.
01:39But the way that they won, I think that sort of everybody raised their antennas a little
01:44bit more.
01:47And you know what's weird, too, Rob, is that, like, I had a feeling when we were going into
01:53this series, like, there was a feeling that this could obviously end bad because the Yankees
01:58are a very good team and the Red Sox have been awful.
02:00But then there was that story that came up.
02:05Who was it that Sean McAdams said that people were saying?
02:08What was it?
02:10The Sean McAdams story that came out right before the series.
02:13With Marcelo Meyer?
02:15Yeah, that Marcelo Meyer apparently was being questioned about his toughness physically and
02:21mentally.
02:22And then there was, of course, what happened with Jaron Duran mouthing off to the crowd.
02:27And even there was, like, a Raffaella thing that happened yesterday or the day before,
02:32I think, too, where he was yelling off at the crowd.
02:35And I'd been giving Chad Tracy so much credit for, as bad as his team was, things kind of
02:41like that being under control.
02:43And I just started to feel that if things didn't turn out this weekend, that the locker
02:49room was going to implode.
02:50And that's why I believe that the way that they won last night, especially being Jaron Duran, you know, a
02:56guy that probably needed a good day better than anybody, some sort of good karma coming his way after saying
03:02what he did and doing what he did the other night.
03:03It kind of prevented, I believe, there being a possible implosion with this team.
03:09Well, yeah, and I'll throw another one at you.
03:12Remember, I mean, they came back after that sad trombone of Colorado and had everyone wasn't on an hour of
03:19sleep.
03:20And everyone's like, oh, here we go.
03:22All right.
03:23And even when they win, they're like, oh, no, no, it's the next day.
03:26It's the next day it catches a few.
03:27Well, they'll win the next day.
03:28But if they don't win, if they don't do what they did, if they don't say – say if they
03:33split this series, I mean, we're right back to where we were before about, oh, look at where they are
03:38in the standings.
03:39You're six and a half out instead of four and a half out.
03:42So I think that, yeah, all of it – and I do credit Chad Tracy a lot.
03:47And I will say this, is that as we sit here, they're, you know, for whatever reason, for – I
03:53think because they've found some solutions, some of these guys that have been called up,
03:58Chang, Siegler, these guys, they fit in really well.
04:01They're playing really well.
04:03The pieces of the puzzle fit a lot better than they did before.
04:06And now you're sitting here like, okay, this is the stretch, man.
04:11Like, this is where you go.
04:12This is where you figure it out, whether or not you have two teams that you play in the next
04:17four series, which you are definitively better than in the standings.
04:21And then you have Chicago, who's going to be tough.
04:24But you have a chance here leading into the All-Star break.
04:28And this is, to me, this is where they can make their run.
04:33You have the T-shirt gun.
04:34You have the trampoline that was the Yankee series.
04:38And now this is your opportunity.
04:41And by the time you get to the All-Star break, that's when you define exactly who you are.
04:46Oh, Brad Foe's fired up.
04:47I love it.
04:47All right, so in the last four games against the Yankees, Anthony Siegler has five hits, has a home run,
04:53two RBIs.
04:55What do you think about his play?
04:57Is this guy – is it sustainable?
04:59And does he – has he, I don't know, carved out a role for himself to get more time moving
05:04forward?
05:04Yeah, I don't – I mean, I don't know if it's sustainable, Ted, but here's what we should understand about
05:09it.
05:09He was a first-round draft pick.
05:11And I always – I say that because, like, if you're a first-round draft pick, you're talented.
05:15You have talent.
05:17He was – he was – he was taking just – he was taking just a few spots – I
05:21think a spot maybe after Tristan Casas.
05:23So you know that he has talent.
05:25He just has to find his way in me.
05:27He was a former catcher.
05:29And the thing I like about him is that he puts the ball in play.
05:32He obviously is a switch hitter.
05:34He makes the plays at second.
05:35And here's the biggest thing I like about him is the vibes, man.
05:40Like, this is the thing.
05:41You had a clubhouse, and there are a bunch of nice guys.
05:44That's all well and good.
05:45But when you don't win, that can be tough.
05:48If you don't have someone coming in and you see Anthony Siegler running, you know, basically running from home plate
05:54to the dugout,
05:55hyping up the crowd like there's three people in the crowd.
05:58Like, they're the – it's, you know, it's like, you know, like a bunch of parents or something,
06:03and they're looking at their phones.
06:05Like, he's hyping up the Fenway Park crowd.
06:07And to me, that's a small part of it, but an important part of what this club needs.
06:14All right.
06:14So, Rob, when we get back, hang in there because you talked to Roman Anthony.
06:19No one's got better access to the team than our man, Rob Rafferty.
06:21So true, man.
06:22Especially Roman.
06:22Especially Roman.
06:23It's amazing what a free baseball isn't boring hat can do as far as access.
06:27Oh, my goodness.
06:27Sticker.
06:28Hey, whatever it takes.
06:29Who cares about your realistic integrity?
06:31He gave Rob his Lambo to drive over the weekend.
06:33Unbelievable.
06:34There you go.
06:35There you go.
