00:18president of baseball operations mike elias this weekend he called us for a press conference
00:23and one of the things that he said was this team is all in their buyers not sellers um how
00:32did you
00:32interpret that and what is your interpretation of what that means moving forward i think that one
00:39where the orioles are and where the standings are they have to be all in they have to be buyers
00:44and that is evaluating what they have internally and looking externally to improve this ball club
00:50and i think the mediocrity honestly of the entire american league has allowed them to be in this
00:58position which is a good thing because in a normal air quote year you know they'd be they'd be trying
01:05to salvage the season at this point seven games under 500 but three three games back in the wild card
01:11right now knocking on the door of july you are very much in playoff contention and i think you need
01:19to
01:19approach it that way and you have to do a really good dive on where you can improve this ball

01:25i have my own opinion on i think where they could go but i think that they're they're going to
01:30turn
01:31over a lot and and try to flip a couple of things to make this make a real run at
01:35this thing i mean
01:36it's a rough weekend losing two out of three to the nats getting healthy i think was kind of a

01:41portion of it on sunday seeing the likes of dylan beavers and adley rutschman back in the lineup knowing
01:46that the pitching's coming on the way do you feel like this team can make that run
01:52i do and i think the lineup got a lot longer when you get adley back he helps for so
01:57many reasons
01:58to improve this this lineup and having him back and also i was kind of surprised actually he went
02:06behind the plate yesterday um so knowing that he's been cleared to really ramp it up and they're not
02:12going to ease him back into playing that's a really good sign for me dylan beavers is back
02:17that improves the outfield you know run prevention is kind of reared its ugly head and it did it again
02:24yesterday with a couple of plays in left field uh which is really disappointing so if you can shore
02:28up the defense plus get dylan beavers back going again that lineup changes a lot and it changes quickly
02:34with these two guys jumping right back in there it was but overall it's a disappointing weekend you
02:40know you wanted to take two out of three you didn't want to drop two out of three

03:54come a lot of power uh i think they're pitching outside of davis martin has been suspect very suspect

04:04you got a three-run era but this is a team coming in even with that you still feel like
04:08you should be
04:08winning the series and we were talking earlier ben about it only being a the longest streak that
04:13they had was three games at some point i'm not saying you got to win 10 in a row you
04:17got to start
04:17stacking some series wins well you do and specifically with the orioles they got to start taking some
04:23series and this builds on the conversation of where they're at where they're projected to go
04:27and going into the trade deadline you if you're going to make moves you got to improve and that
04:34that of course i'm i'm with you you don't need to win 10 in a row but you got to
04:38start winning like
04:3912 out of 18 and and bigger bigger chunks here you got to start putting series back to back to

04:46together and what's in front of them even in front of the all-star break is really important i would

04:52last weekend was also important against the nationals white socks rolling in here with a lot
04:57of swagger um then of course you go to cincinnati that's a team that looks really vulnerable they've
05:04kind of gone from a pretender or a contender down to a pretender falling back to earth over the last
05:10months and now you've got the cubs coming in here and then right before the all-star break you got

05:16kansas city royals here this to me is a huge huge pocket for the orioles to get this thing rolling

05:54that i even consider the fact that he was the only american black player on our team and to be
06:02perfectly honest with you you know he's a major league ball player and maybe i'm naive but at 73 years
06:09old um we're never ever ever going to get rid of racism until we stop making everything racist
06:15and uh i don't think obviously it had anything to do with it and i just wanted to i just
06:22wanted to
06:22weigh in i don't think i don't think like i don't know if people are pointing out saying it's racism
06:27that he went down um maybe they are a little bit because of a couple calls that did allude to

06:32but like my thing about this is and and i i see it kind of i don't want to say
06:37similarly but like
06:38if you look at the numbers if you take away all the take away the names and just put the
06:42numbers up
06:42once you look at kobe mayo against left-handed pitching he's not going anywhere because this
06:47team struggles against left-handed pitching he's going to be in the lineup every time
06:50jackson's not a great defensive player right he's not and you move more and plays a lot of positions
06:56but he doesn't play any one of them extremely well trades and then the only other option in my
07:00opinion would be sending tyler or sending releasing tyler o'neill which i would have been fine with
07:05but it's not like jackson's replacing him in the outfield but you did just get dylan beavers back
07:09so how how how much do you need tyler o'neill at this point i think i don't want to
07:13say the majority
07:14because i don't even know if i'm representing that i think many many people like this they're not
07:19accusing the orioles of having an act of racism by demoting him i think it's just
07:25disappointment because he's the only american black player on the team uh with i think you know
07:32you know the situation of baseball you know all those things you know the facts but that still
07:36does not relieve you of the disappointment you have because he was demoted to triple a norfolk
