00:10to assume and I know sometimes you get in trouble for assuming but I'm sure you knew Jim before you
00:14became the Orioles manager yeah I interacted with him uh first of all how you guys doing he uh Jim
00:20was uh always he's a big fan of the game big fan of the Orioles I think everything you got

00:26in mind is Jim loves the Orioles okay he wants them to do well and um he was great with
00:32me I um
00:33you know when I got there I thought it was very important because of the stature that these guys
00:37had and they had something to bring you know I'm talking about Palmer and Cal and Billy Ripken and
00:42Rick Dempsey Scott McGregor Flanny was a great resource for me BJ and Hoyles and uh Brady Anderson
00:50was almost a right-hand guy Bordy was outstanding in our minor leagues Boog Paul was great he was
00:55around all the time Tippi you know I keep naming him you know it was very important to the fans

01:01to these guys that the Orioles did well and they helped me a lot I you know I remember Mike

01:06me to understand the layers as he put it of Baltimore Mike Flanagan he used to come in my office
01:11one o'clock every day and get a cup of black coffee and quite frankly I would let him smoke
