00:00In Falcón State, the town of Tucacas is one of the areas most affected by the double earthquake
00:06that hit Venezuela on June 24th. Rescue teams are still working to free trapped people.
00:12Our correspondent Luis Alberto Matos brings us more detail from the scene.
00:20Good afternoon, studios. I'm right now starting in La Mar Suite. This is located in Tucacas.
00:27Falcón State is one of the most affected areas in this state after the back-to-back earthquake that
00:32took place on June 24th. Behind me, you can see that one of the buildings of this complex was
00:37completely brought down. The earthquake completely brought down that that building. It collapsed
00:42in its entirety. There are other damages around this complex but it's only superficial. We were
00:47speaking with the mayor of Silva earlier and he was telling us about the figures. They have rescued
00:53three people. These three people were rescued alive on Wednesday, June 24th. And on that same day,
00:58also two people were brought out of the robo dead. And in total, since that moment until now,
01:03there are six people dead. Currently, there are six people. There are other six people that are
01:07currently trapped behind the robo on the robo as rescue workers have continued to work tirelessly
01:13for the last 72 hours. We have had reports here that the governor of the state was in the first
01:18hours
01:19here in leading the rescue operations, seeing, monitoring how everything has been done. We also,
01:24before we got here, we drove by Boca Aroa, another place that was impacted by the earthquake. Although
01:31the town itself, not much damage was seen, but in a place called Cayo Mar, the 80, over 80 households
01:37had to be evacuated because it was severely damaged by the earthquake. So right now, work is being done to
01:42see what is done with those families, where they can be relocated. The governor, the mayor of Silva,
01:47also told us that electricity has been resumed in most of the area. There's still that area in Boca,
01:53in Cayo, in Cayo Mar, where is the most affected. Work is still being done to try to bring back
01:58the
01:58service. But currently, this is what is happening right now here. Rescue operations continue trying to
02:03find and rescue a lot of the six people. It's a race against time as 72 hours have passed since
02:08the
02:08fall. Both earthquakes hit Venezuela on June 24th.
02:11So now, we have to go to the next day.
02:11I think it's a race against the absorber.
02:11This is what I'm going to do when I'm working to see.
