00:11Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're counting down our picks for the 10 hardest levels in Rayman games.
00:24Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe
00:28and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:33Desert of the Qunarin, Rayman 3, Hoodlum Havoc
00:44This lengthy labyrinthian level is going to test your Rayman prowess. Even if you don't happen to get
00:50lost in the seemingly endless hallways and rooms, you will be greeted by some challenging platforming
00:56sections and combat areas. It's one of those levels that just kind of feels like it keeps on going,
01:01never letting up on the tension. Rayman will need to contend with various environmental hazards,
01:07often in tandem with tricky platforms, grapple sections, and even using his rocket ability to
01:13find just out of reach parts that need to be triggered. If you manage to survive all of that,
01:18you are greeted to a tough gladiatorial boss battle against Reflux.
01:27The Prison Ship Rayman 2 The Great Escape
01:36The prison ship is a tricky two-parter that, while quite short overall, is rife with trial and error.
01:43Set aboard a crumbling and on-fire pirate ship, Part 1 sees Rayman sliding down the wooden beams and
01:49rafters as everything falls willy-nilly around him. It requires super quick thinking, as this sliding
01:56level changes on a dime with little warning. Then, Part 2 sees you hop atop your rocket-powered vehicle,
02:02the thing that you basically fly around through this twisting corridor. It's both disorienting and
02:07confusing. While both sections are linear, the combination of reflex-based movements and things
02:13falling apart around you leads it to feeling more obfuscating than it really is.
02:25Mr. Dark's Dare Rayman Advance
02:34Housed within the Candy Chateau area of this game lies Mr. Dark's Dare, itself a three-parter level
02:40that is both brisk and challenging. This sugar-drenched level starts out simply enough,
02:45as Rayman slides about on some frosting on a cooking pan. However, once that brief opening is
02:51over, the heat gets turned up as you run through a brutal platforming gauntlet,
02:55all while a dark version of Rayman closes in on you. Then, once you reach the respite of safety,
03:01Mr. Dark reverses Rayman's controls as you attempt to navigate another platforming section,
03:07where your nimbleness and adaptability will be your best friend.
03:16Mecha No Mistake Rayman Legends
03:26The industrial hijinks of Mecha No Mistake is enough to send shivers down your spine. Grinding gears,
03:33rotating pipeworks, protruding platforms, smashing pistons, and mischievous robots all the way at
03:40Rayman in this brutal level. There's just so much to deal with in such a short span of time. Oh,
03:46and yeah, I forgot to mention the bubbling lava. So much lava in this franchise, seriously. Mecha No Mistake
03:52is a difficulty spike in an already punishing yet endlessly enjoyable platformer.
04:05Sanctuary of Stone and Fire, Rayman 2 The Great Escape
04:18What is it with ancient, long forgotten structures that make for tough video game levels? Especially
04:24ones that feature loads of lava flowing all over the place. Well, such is the case with the Sanctuary
04:30of Stone and Fire in The Great Escape. One wrong step here can spell doom for Rayman. If the tight
04:35platforming sections across lava rivers don't trip you up, then the robotic, ostrich-like riding sections
04:42I guess surely will. I'm not really sure what it is. No two areas of this large level really ever
04:47feel
04:47the same. You're constantly moving forward ever slowly, doing your darndest to avoid the many
04:53pitfalls and hazards that await you. The Cave of Scops Eat at Joe's, Rayman
05:11The OG Rayman for PS1 is often cited as one of the hardest 2D platformers of all time, and for
05:18good
05:18reason. One of those reasons is the level Eat at Joe's. Yes, it's a strange name for a level, but
05:24I
05:24mean come on, it's Rayman after all. If the initial section of this level didn't scare you off as you
05:29try to navigate a pitch black area with only a single spotlight on Rayman, then the rest of the parts
05:35surely will. They might not be covered in darkness, but they sure as heck have enough cheap deaths and
05:40pop out of nowhere hazards and enemies to ruin your day. Also, is it just me, or is the music
05:46in this
05:46level way too laid back, chill, and melancholic for how intense the level can actually be?
06:02The Tower of Leptis Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc
06:12The Tower of Leptis is the real deal, a doozy of a stage that tests your combat prowess,
06:18your agility, and your vertical platforming expertise, often all in tandem with one another.
06:23All of it then culminates in an on-rails vehicle section that actually helps release the tension
06:28from all of the challenges you just facedown. You see, this towering structure of the baddies in
06:33Hoodlum Havoc tosses you into myriad combat arenas, where goons pummel you over and over again.
06:40When you think you earned a breather, you are forced to clamber up tower spires,
06:44all while red glowing electricity stuff rises. It's a lot to handle, for sure. Best of luck.
06:58Land of the Livid Dead Rayman Origins
07:09While not as hard of a game overall as Legends, Origins still managed to feature a bevy of tricky
07:15levels. So in this case, we are opting to showcase Land of the Livid Dead, since although it's super
07:21duper short, stands out as the toughest of the bunch in this great game. The cemetery theme is
07:26perfectly on point here, since you will find yourself sent to your early grave more often than
07:31you probably like. Really, the only way to beat this grueling gauntlet of pain is through sheer
07:36memorization, born out of trial and error. This level gives a whole new meaning to pushing up daisies.
07:51Picture City, Space Mama's Crater, Rayman
08:02Surely a land filled with office supplies and writing tools can't be that harrowing, right?
08:07Well, clearly you haven't played Space Mama's Crater from Rayman for PS1.
08:12Within Picture City lies this strange level, one where sentience has invaded even the humblest
08:17of office tools, things such as pencils, pens, and erasers, and a bunch of other stuff.
08:23Where Eat It Joes previously was uber challenging, given it often felt cruel and cheap with its layout
08:28and obstacles, Space Mama's Crater is all about platforming skill through and through,
08:34culminating in an off-the-wall boss battle. If you haven't yet mastered Rayman's platforming skills
08:39by this point, then you are going to have a doozy of a time here in this fever dream of
08:43a level.
08:51Living Dead Party Rayman Legends
09:028-bit retro-inspired madness. That's what you are in for here. Do you want to constantly be moving about
09:09through tough as nails Rayman platforming levels to be remixed with CRT fisheye filters?
09:15How about muddy pixelated graphics so you can't see where you're going?
09:18What about the screen image cutting in and out, sort of like you need to adjust the antenna
09:23atop your old school TV? Well, how about a final level that tosses all of this and even more into
09:29a kaleidoscopic smorgasbord of color, music, and mayhem that will test every ounce of your sanity?
09:35Yep, that's the entirety of Living Dead Party in a rock hard nutshell. Good freaking luck.
