The Hunter Region's win in the latest state budget! After years of advocacy, the Broadmeadow Precinct and Entertainment Centre are finally set to receive a significant funding boost of $14 million.

Beyond this major win, the budget also allocates funds for crucial road infrastructure projects across the region, including the Musselbrook and Singleton Bypass, Hillsborough Road, and the Inner City Bypass.

While stage one of the John Hunter Hospital has seen some investment, the vital funding for stage two remains elusive, despite strong appeals from local stakeholders concerned about hospital capacity and infrastructure.

00:00Hi, I'm Jess Falzicki and we're here in Sydney for the state budget.
00:05So after years of asking, the Hunter has finally seen some funding for the Broadmeadow Precinct.
00:11Today, the state government announced that we'll see $14 million for the Broadmeadow Precinct
00:17and the Entertainment Centre. So what else have we seen some funding on this year? Well,
00:22there's been some funding for major road projects as well, so that includes the Musselbrook and
00:28Singleton Bypass, Hillsborough Road and the Inner City Bypass. Stage one of the John Hunter Hospital
00:36has also seen a little bit of a funding boost, but we still haven't seen any funding for stage two
00:43yet.
00:43This is despite a lot of Hunter stakeholders asking for that funding, saying it will help with capacity
00:49and infrastructure issues at the hospital. To follow along with our coverage on the budget,
00:57you can go to the Newcastle Herald website.
