02:26welcome back to CM Reap Cambodia. I am just now on my way to go and pick up our tuk
02:32tuk which we're renting for the next month or so while we're here in Cambodia from a company called tuktukrental
02:43.com. We used them in Sri Lanka two years ago and had the most epic time. They've recently opened a
02:52branch here in Cambodia and we thought what better way to see a
02:57country than in a tuk tuk. I'm gonna go pick up the tuk tuk. I'm gonna have a chat with
03:01the people there who have really helped us plan our trip. We're gonna be in Cambodia for a little over
03:07a month. We actually extended our visas because as soon as we got here and got to CM Reap we
03:13realized that 30 days just isn't enough time to see everything.
03:16So I'm gonna go and have a bit of a chat to them and also just have a bit of
03:21a talk about the general safety here in Cambodia because there's a lot of stuff in the news and a
03:27lot of stuff going on at the moment.
03:29To be honest, I think a lot of people have been scared of coming to Cambodia and having been here
03:37for almost a week now and spoken to a lot of locals and a lot of expats that live here,
03:43they've assured us that it is completely safe and honestly Cambodia relies on tourism.
03:50So we're hoping this series is going to open some people's eyes to the fact that Cambodia is safe and
03:58maybe we can help bring some tourism to the area which is much needed because they do rely on tourism.

05:53I mean, I think I'll remember as soon as I start driving, but I need a refresher.
05:57In the meantime, I thought I'd ask John just about like safety and traveling to Cambodia right now.
06:05Because there's been a lot of stuff on the news and in social media about traveling to Cambodia.
06:11And yeah, he's going to explain the situation a little bit better.
06:14You said this has been going on for 800 years, the border conflict, right?
06:17Yeah.
06:17So it's nothing new.
06:18No.
06:18I mean, I remember when I was in secondary school, grade nine, sitting in the classroom
06:25and there's no social media, no Facebook.
06:28They heard it from my teachers.
06:30Oh yeah, we have a fighting going on in the border.
06:33Okay.
06:34And then now it happened again for me in my life.
06:37That's the second time.
06:38Yeah.
06:39And then quite normal.
06:40Everyone's, you walk around and people still smile.
06:43Mm-hmm.
06:44And it's nothing new, right?
06:45People just smile.
06:46Yes, it's sad for people at the border.
06:47And it's, but super safe, right?
06:51People, people now, they're displaced from where they used to live across the border.
06:57Now it's like over 50 kilometers away from the border.
07:01So it should be 50 kilometers away from the border.
07:03It's safe along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
07:06Mm-hmm.
07:07And all the Cambodians are very friendly.
07:11And they're not going to bother you when you're traveling around Cambodia,
07:14but they definitely help you if you need.
07:17You know, everyone will come and help you if you need.
07:20They help.

07:23And so that's the same as what I've been hearing from other locals and expats
07:27who've been living here.
07:28Basically, it's just a border issue.
07:30We're not going to be going anywhere near the border and the rest of Cambodia
07:35is completely safe.
07:37And I actually was talking to an expat yesterday
07:42and she said the worst thing that might happen is somebody might invite us over for dinner
07:48and invite us to come into their home and enjoy a meal with them.
07:53And that's probably the worst thing that will happen, which sounds pretty good.
07:55I hope that's shed some light for you guys
07:57and you can see that it is still safe to travel to Cambodia.

14:09And yeah, honestly, when we first booked this trip, I was a little bit apprehensive
14:17just because like our Sri Lanka tuk-tuk trip was so much fun, but it was also like kind
14:25of chaotic, you know, a lot of stuff happened.
14:28It's not a very developed country.
14:31So there were some hard things about traveling through Sri Lanka, but Cambodia just feels easy.
14:40So I think we're going to be fine and we're not going to rush or anything.

14:50And I'm excited to get home and show Mandy the sports box.

27:53Some of the local people found it and they were absolutely awesome in helping us locate it and get it

28:00It was pretty crazy.
28:01Lloyd ended up jumping on the back of a motorbike and going with one of the local guys to go
28:06pick it up from the security office that it had been turned into.
28:10I was just left with Lila in this floating village and they were so beautiful.
28:15They brought us into their home.
28:17They were offering me a chair to sit on and just like playing with Lila and everyone was so excited
28:23that we were there.
28:25I think it was a huge testament to how safe Cambodia really is.
28:31You know, that Lloyd was able to just like leave me in this local area with my daughter and I
28:36felt completely comfortable.
28:37Yeah, it was pretty crazy.
28:39It did end up being both mine and Lloyd's fault.
28:42I ventured off the path a little bit.
28:44I was following us with the drone, but I did venture off a little bit and the coordinates that we
28:51got were actually the coordinates back to where we had originally launched the drone from, not where it had last
28:58been.
28:58So that's where the confusion was and that's why it ultimately ended up doing the emergency landing.
29:03So we won't have a drone for a little while.
29:06Lloyd's seeing right now if he can fix it or if it's going to charge.
29:11I've had it plugged in for about an hour now and it's not turning on or anything.
29:17I'd say the battery's probably toast.
29:20We'll see if we can get it fixed.

29:27Um, with the current situation that's going on with Thailand and Cambodia anyway, probably not the best idea to be
29:33flying the drone too much.
