00:00I don't like Bryson this week. I don't.
00:04And because I don't like his iron game out here.
00:07Yeah.
00:08It seems a little bit more of a Lynx type of iron play.
00:12Like you need to be able to hit shots.
00:14Bryson struggles to hit shots.
00:16I know he's, from what I've been watching of highlights I've seen on Live,
00:20he's been able to work, I think, the right flags, right to left win.
00:25Like some guys have solutions for that.
00:27You hold shots, you take more club, you add spin.
00:29Bryson didn't seem to have solutions for that.
00:32I was seeing him hit more of those shots over the last couple events that he's played,
00:36so maybe he's been able to figure that out.
00:38But his approach stats weren't good here when he played here the last time.
00:41And so based on what we've seen in the trend in his game,
00:44the short game has kind of let him down at the majors of late.
00:47It's a big reason why he contended at other major championships
00:51and why he won two U.S. Opens.
00:55But what he did so well at Pinehurst, and I watched a lot of him that week,
00:59of course he drove it incredibly.
01:00I mean, it was just high bombs.
01:02But he played so conservative to the middle of the greens all week.
01:06So if Bryson's able to have a game plan in which he doesn't get to where he's chasing a little
01:13bit too much,
01:15he's got to be able to hit a number.
01:16If he can't hit a number, it doesn't matter.
01:20It comes down to distance control, right?
01:21It's like, can you – if that number is the number and you've got wind and everything else,
01:26you can hit the center of every green at Pinehurst if you are hitting your number.
01:30That sounds so stupid and simple, but that's really what it kind of boils down to for him.
01:33And you might get a sense of this too because you've played the golf course.
01:36I walked it.
01:37I felt like there was a mix of flat lies and then a mix of ball, blow your feet, ball
01:42above your feet, downhill, uphill.
01:44But I think the flatter a lie is, the better it is for Bryson.
01:49The more the lies are changing, I feel like the more difficult it is for him and the single length
01:55irons
01:55and then also conditions that might make it tough.
01:59I think that's well said.
02:01I mean, for me, it's like there are – again, it's a strategy thing,
02:06which is why it just fascinates me to just start watching guys play as a competition.
02:10But you can lay up to certain spots where you're going to get a flat lie,
02:14but if you push it on certain holes, you're going to be closer, less club in your hand,
02:19but it's going to be a little bit uncomfortable.
02:21And I think – and I think, by the way, I think that's the best possible scenario for a major
02:26championship test.
02:27Yeah.
02:27And why William Flynn – I mean, this piece of land is just – the way that it rolls in,
02:33you know,
02:33unique sort of ways, the 9th hole we left so much, 45, you know, yards uphill.
02:38But the sandy base where it drains, you know, well so it remains firm for the most part, even if
02:43you get rain.
02:43Yeah, when it's firm, you just got to put a little ketchup on it, you know.
