00:09Pero ngayong umaga, we're going to look at a different side of fatherhood. Panorin po natin ito.
00:21Tuwing Hunyo, ginugunitan natin ang Father's Day.
00:54inner child.
01:21Together with his daughter, Skye.
01:24Good morning. Welcome to Rise and Shine, Pilipinas.
01:25Good morning po.
01:27Good morning, Skye.
01:34How cute. Ilang taon na ba ikaw ngayon, Skye?
01:37How old are you?
01:38How old are you now?
01:39Five.
01:41Wow.
01:42Very vivo rin siya sa mga videos.
01:44Tsaka ngayon parang i-enjoy niya.
01:46Oo.
01:47Kahit na ang agay niyong gumisin.
01:50Daddy Jiraya, we saw your TikTok bio, mini dad things in your 20s.
01:55Can you tell us more about this and also your content?
01:58Yeah, of course.
01:59I mean, the mini dad things started off as my journey.
02:03Being a young dad, navigating through life, balancing fatherhood and family.
02:10And the content that we do primarily revolves around Skye.
02:14There's still angel right here.
02:17And it's just really centered on family, what I've been learning as a dad
02:21and how I've been moving in and out in life, factoring in my 9 to 5, and then just being
02:28a dad overall.
02:29Okay.
02:30So, you became a dad at the age of?
02:3421.
02:3521?
02:35I wonder pa paano yung naging adjustment mo?
02:38Kasi syempre, at ngayon yung mga 20s, 21, iba-iba pa yung mga priorities.
02:43But ikaw, you're at the age of 21, you had Skye already.
02:45Paano yung naging adjustment mo?
02:47I have to be honest, it's very hard.
02:49I mean, having a child isn't easy, especially in this young age.
02:53But I guess I have to thank my parents because they gave me a stepping stone growing up.
02:58And the practices and the modeling that they've done for me enabled me and empowered me to truly be present
03:04with Skye.
03:05And so, the adjustment was a bit hard.
03:07The responsibilities was definitely a sacrifice that I had to make.
03:12But overall, I think as she grew older and our relationship became stronger and deeper,
03:18it allowed me to be happy and to see that all the sacrifices that we've made, that I've made, is
03:26enough.
03:27And it's being rewarded through her.
03:29I'm just very proud of her.
03:38Kailangan always present, like Daddy Jiraiya.
03:42Grabe.
03:47Oo.
03:48Of course.
03:48Kasi mahirap naman talaga magiging isang tatay at nanay.
03:52Well, tell us about those dad moments na ginagawa mo.
03:57Together with Sky and also may bunso ka.
03:59Yes, yes.
03:59What's the name?
04:00Jeremy.
04:01Jeremy.
04:02Yes.
04:07I think it's very important for both parents, to be honest, to be present.
04:13And I think us parents now, we tend to be focused on providing financially.
04:18While that is important, I've learned as a dad, as a young dad, that being present matters a lot.
04:25And one story that I can think of is me and Sky, we would normally just have a conversation.
04:31I work from home.
04:33And sometimes while I'm working, she would come up to me randomly and ask me a question.
04:39One thing that stands out is she would ask me a question about Transformers.
04:42We love watching Transformers.
04:44And she would ask me,
04:45Dad, who's your favorite Transformer?
04:47And I would tell her, Optimus Prime.
04:49And then she would say, who's your favorite Transformer?
04:51Who's your favorite Transformer?
04:53So she's a pink motorcycle from an older version of Transformers show.
04:59And we would spend 30 minutes just conversing through it.
05:03And why Optimus Prime is my favorite Transformer?
05:06And why RC is her favorite Transformer?
05:09And what we would do together to defeat Decepticons?
05:12And it's pretty much the bonding that we've been doing.
05:14And as we continue to do that through time,
05:16I realized that it became a very valuable moment.
05:20because being present allowed her to be comfortable,
05:24to be comfortable in the way that I can come to my dad.
05:28And I think, as parents, it's very important for us to allow our kids
05:33to be comfortable, to be confident that I can come to my dad,
05:37I can come to my mom anytime I want because they are there for me.
05:41And without any fear.
05:42Yes.
05:43So it's like a mark.
05:44That's it.
05:45I wonder, let's ask Sky.
05:47Sky, what's your favorite bonding moment with your dad?
05:52Playgrounds.
05:53Playgrounds?
05:54What do you do sa playgrounds?
05:56Rock climbing in him sometimes and also signing him.
06:00Wow.
06:01Ang sarap kakwituhan ng batang ito.
06:03Ano, matahil dal siya.
06:04Hindi mo.
06:05Bumutin na kami ka, no?
06:07Ito, Sir Jiraya.
06:15I think it's very, very important to all the dads out there.
06:18We tend to view fatherhood as a form of providing financially.
06:23While that is important, dads, it's also important for us to be present.
06:27Let us not underestimate the power of being present
06:30because that can truly shape how our children view themselves
06:34and the world around them.
06:36And honestly, one of the things that I've learned to do with Sky, admittedly,
06:41is learning how to take accountability.
06:43There are moments that I get frustrated and I can raise her voice on there.
06:47And I can see from a far view that she felt hurt.
06:51And during those times, I would come up to her and say,
06:54Sky, I'm sorry, and I would explain why I was wrong
06:57and that I shouldn't have raised her voice
06:59and daddy might have been going through something at work.
07:01And through that type of practice, now she learned how to say sorry.
07:07And when she does make mistakes, she would just randomly come up to me
07:11and she would say, Dad, I'm sorry that I did that.
07:14I know that's wrong. I should have never done that.
07:16And I think the accountability aspect plays a huge key role
07:20with our children's emotional intelligence.
07:23And as they grow up, she will not be afraid to take accountability
07:26and that it's okay to say you're sorry because truly, it's your fault.
07:32But overall, I think as parents, it's very important on what we model
07:36since our children learn from what we model more than just what we say.
07:40And that's what I've learned with being a dad and being with her.
07:44That's one of the most of the millennials dads.
07:47It's not just like that, it's not like that we're still in the back.
07:52It's also like, sorry, Papa.
07:54Sorry, Papa.
07:57But in the accountability, I feel like that there are also so many things
08:03that you've learned before.
08:04Sky, what's your message to your daddy on this upcoming Father's Day?
08:10He's the best.
08:13What do you love most about your dad?
08:16He plays with me a lot.
08:18Oh, that's the present.
08:21But maybe this is because the other kids, of course, you don't have to leave.
08:26Yeah, that's the park.
08:27Correct.
08:28That's different.
08:29That's different.
08:30Yes, that's different.
08:31Because I think it's really priority for his family and child.
08:36How do you balance that?
08:37I think one of the things that I've learned now that I'm a dad is you lose a lot of
08:43friends along the process,
08:45along the journey of being a dad.
08:47And to the dads that are watching today and might be going through the same thing and you have children
08:52and you're willing to sacrifice your old life to be present with your children,
08:56I have to salute you because that's very hard to do.
08:59But that's also an important thing to do because you are the reason how your children may become
09:0410 years from now, 20 years from now.
09:08And how you become present will truly shape how they are and how they navigate the world.
09:14So, okay lang yan dads.
09:15You know, me personally, I used to go out a lot.
09:17I'm a young dad and part of what I do is spending time with friends, going out to drink,
09:22all these millennial stuff that we normally do.
09:25But overall, through time when I first had her, I realized, okay, I have to decline this a bit and
09:31just be present.
09:32And because I've been doing that, I see the reward.
09:35And the reward is more intimate moments, more fun moments with her.
09:39Just being a dad and daughter time.
09:41Wow. So important talaga. You know your priority.
09:44Correct.
09:45Lalo na pag may pamilya na.
09:46Happy Father's Day.
09:47Happy Father's Day.
09:48Thank you so much, Paul. Thank you.
09:51Ba tingin nyo naman si mommy.
09:52Oh, yeah.
09:53Is mommy watching right now?
09:56Say hi to your brother.
09:57Say hi to your brother.
09:59Hi, mommy.
10:00Hi, Jeremy. Also.
10:02Ang cute.
10:03Parang artista na talaga siya.
10:05Your social media accounts, please.
10:07Yes, it's my social media po.
10:09It's at TJ Raya.
10:11And I just want to say, you know, in national TV, while I have Sky, if that's okay.
10:15Of course.
10:16You know, Sky, in front of everyone, I just want to thank you.
10:20Because you come up to me every time.
10:22You converse to me every time.
10:23And you make me laugh every time.
10:25You taught me the meaning of patience.
10:27How to become a better dad.
10:29And ultimately, you're one of the reasons.
10:31You're the reason why I am called dad in the first place.
10:34So, thank you. And I love you. I'm so proud of you.
10:37It's so nice to hear that from your father.
10:41Yes.
10:41Anong response mo doon?
10:44I love him.
10:45Oh!
10:46Happy Father's Day again!
10:48Happy Father's Day!
10:49Happy Father's Day!
10:49Thank you so much po.
10:51Nakakaiyak.
10:52Oo.
10:53Nakakatsunol.
10:53Yes.
10:58Daddy, Jiraya Torres, and of course, Baby Sky!
11:01Thank you po.
