00:28day just back home you traveled yesterday today is the your sleeping day no you know we still have
00:37a game today the rose they don't have an off day i know that but i'm saying jalen has to
00:43travel and
00:43he had yeah there was there's just there's some stuff going on in jalen's life he's back from the
00:47capital uh did you go did you go hang out in the uh ufc ring outside the the white house

00:53throw some blows or anything like that no no i did not go and do that uh i i saw

01:00it was pretty big and it looked pretty cool yeah yeah all right royals didn't have that cool of a
01:07a start to the week there they dropped the series they salvage it uh in the final game but jalen

01:12start with a move that was made yesterday we led the show with this uh randy adobnik coming from the
01:18mariners uh we said he's the the guy you formerly know is the foo man shoe mustache that pitched for
01:23the cubs uh for a couple years there if i'm not mistaken about that that's him uh get sent to
01:28omaha they got him for cash considerations uh this is far from a royals or buyers type of move
01:34so what does it mean they just need more arms you know they need they need more arms and at
01:41least
01:41to be able to be in triple a he's on the 40 going to be on the 40-man roster
01:45just in case a guy like
01:48cole reagan's and chris boobish continue to uh work their way back from injuries and if they're still
01:55sidelined you need someone that you can probably call on if there's another injury to that pitching
02:00staff right now you're kind of thin with your starters after you're using uh steven colic when
02:07in the rotation had to go a bullpen day was that blue girl coming back from the concussion but he'll
02:13be pitching on friday so yeah you just need gotta get more depth wherever you can and maybe if they
02:20need them then they'll call them up but also probably might see them in the bullpen they need
02:25them there too so it's just another arm another piece to add to the puzzle because right now injuries
02:32just contain them out for this team you know when you look at the royals and and the needs of
02:39of what
02:39they of what they have you know it can be kind of frustrating for the average fan if if what
02:46would
02:46your advice be to the average royals fan right now who feels that frustration i feel it i've been
02:52telling tj i feel frustrated just as well so what would you tell the average fan right now with the
03:00situation the royals are in what they're trying to do do they have the right plan are they trying to
03:06do the right thing from what you can see are they going after the right position players or pitchers or
03:13what what are the royals doing that's right is there anything in your view they're doing right or would
03:19you rather see them tweak what their overall plans are yeah paul i if i was to tell any royals

03:26about being frustrated i think they have every right to be frustrated you you look at this team
03:33they had real expectations this year and they missed the mark there's no running from that there's no
03:39sugarcoating that they plain missed the mark this year oh wow didn't get better in the off season
03:46they they kind of ran it back with the same team made a few adjustments on the margins as they
03:52say
03:52and it just flat has not worked so it's totally fair to be frustrated if you are a rose fan
03:59it's
03:59totally fair to to wonder why can't the team get a big bat why can't the team go out and
04:07get a
04:07difference maker to go along with what they already have remember when this year started they were going
04:13to count on their core four of bobby wood jr michael garcia vinnie paspatino salver perez
04:18and then they're going to allow their pitching and hope the young guys of carter jensen and jack
04:24was going to carry them forward and they thought that was going to be enough to get them potentially
04:29in the al central divisional race and to potentially be a post-season club right well injuries happen
04:38and underperformance happen and this is what you have so i just think the worlds have the right
04:46mindset and approach you're seeing the growth like i said of carter jensen and jack hagleon you're
04:52seeing some young pitchers like steven kolik and now luendo avila step up so they're going in the
04:59right direction but i think that this team really needs to look at what they have offensively this
05:08off season and really really evaluate what can we do to pour into this because you pour into your
05:15pitching with great trades and great signings right but you haven't done that with your offense
05:20and that is the issue and that is what's holding this team back okay let's ask one more here then
05:25we'll switch over to manhattan kansas from kansas city uh cole reagans is on the 60 day il uh per
05:31the
05:31release yesterday i can't even remember what it was at this point was it there was like uh some elbow
05:37pain that he said it wasn't tommy john because he's had that before and he didn't think it was that
05:41is this still the same injury have we seen him pitch since that yeah it's the same injury the veo
05:46the
05:47big velgris uh extension overload he had a rehab start and he looked pretty well but then the pains
05:56kind of was was still there he still had discomfort in his arm so now he tried to throw a
06:02bullpen and he
06:03did that then he was going to throw another one and play catch but his arm still didn't feel right
06:08so he's going to meet with another doctor to see what exactly is going on but is he going to
06:16pitch
06:16again this year is he going to pitch again this year i think he will but it's just going to
06:23because
06:24it's just going to come down to what exactly is it what's what's causing this discomfort when he
06:30gets to a certain point he pitches and then it comes back again is it something that
06:35it needs to be fixed structurally we don't know that yet but it is concerning for sure that you
06:42get to a point where you can pitch again in games you can throw bullpens but if your arm doesn't
06:47feel
06:47right and the discomfort still there you can't really proceed for it okay i appreciate it jalen uh

07:58thoughts on this well texas tech needs to get past this and their fans don't seem to want to
08:04um they feel like they were slighted when uh they were simply asked to kind of follow the rules that
08:11everyone's followed basically in the history of sports uh but it's best that it went down this way
08:18soarsby declaring for the draft and moving on i think they put themselves in an untenable position
08:24through absolutely atrocious public relations just handled this miserably um and it's best for
08:32the conference to get past this but they're not going to because let's be blunt here it's time for
08:38cincinnati to get a look what did they know when did they know it and did they violate conference rules
08:44by playing a guy that they knew was betting on sports specifically even college football so i don't
08:51think the soarsby thing is is done from terms of fallout you know that's one of the things that
08:58just drives me crazy is you know who gets away with all this stuff are the gambling sites drives me
09:03crazy i mean now you got to have control and how you how you go about you know you throw
09:10away a five
09:11million dollar payday because you can't control your gambling i feel bad about that but you know what
09:17can you do with the gambling sites is there anything that the that that colleges can do and somehow get
09:24a control of this maybe one way or another with them through the players i don't know this is a
09:29complicated deal and let me just tell you you think it's this is a bad thing i'm telling you i

09:36feeling that soarsby's the tip of the iceberg i agree i agree and here's here's the thing is how
09:43soarsby was handled was the exact format for making this worse you have to put your line in the sand

09:52has to be an ultimate punishment the death penalty for sports participation oh you want to gamble
10:00you're out oh they just have to go to that but here's the problem paul like everything else in college
10:07sports they can shop around and find a judge that will just disagree with the sky being blue
10:13and rule in their favor and that's exactly what happened in this case the ncaa college sports all
10:20of sports need to understand what this judge just did and try to get a hold of it because this
10:26could
10:26really taint athletics because it's really not the gambling sites it's the gamblers that will start
10:33seeing some odds they really like and find an athlete that's in debt needs a boost need some money
10:40and take advantage of that and it might be simply as throwing a stat not getting your over on passing
10:47yards hitting the under or throwing a game but you can't have a chill down my spine using the word
10:53death penalty remember smu and what it did to them the death penalty i'm telling you tim you put a

11:00down my spine just then yeah it's there has to be an ultimate punishment for college athletes to fear
11:07or they're going to take the risk you're going to borrow a buddy's phone use a different name
11:12bet underage doesn't matter if they're if they're going to do it they're going to do it and they need
11:17to end their career it's so easy to do that's what we talked about is joe schmo can find a
11:21phone and you
11:22can have an account in 30 seconds uh and it yeah i don't you know there's going to be a
11:27lot of stories
11:27about this and that's why this was such a big deal fits it wasn't so much of the fact of
11:32uh i get that
11:33there's the integrity of the game and things of that sort but in the soresby case you know if he's
11:38telling the truth about what he bet on and if he bet indiana to win every game he never had
11:43ulterior
11:43motives and you can make the argument which i'm sure texas tech was trying to do uh and all this
11:47stuff that and a little bit of me is like well there's kind of a point about that but the
11:52bigger
11:53point that i it could not happen is because it can't say well he bet on his team and he
11:59was allowed
11:59to play what about the next person that does it uh and he bets against his team or he bets
12:04a a number
12:05that he he throws the game for and yada yada yada because that's the slippery slope that it would
12:09take you to is their pride of tim fitzgerald in the ncaa or more specifically probably the big 12
12:16in the fact that they put their foot down that's the first thing that we've seen in college athletics
12:20if somebody put their foot down on and say no that's crazy talk we're not going to do that
12:25yeah and i can't wrap my mind around what tech's thinking their fans are just obsessed with winning
12:30and and you know out texasing texas and they they can't see what's really going on and it's sad to
12:37watch this happen to a great fan base uh but you just have to have that penalty you have to
12:42have
12:43um that ultimate um lack of prize the punishment and i'm going to say this bluntly
12:51if there if you want evidence that brennan storesby is a awful gambler betting on indiana
12:58to win is exactly it that was defense usually he didn't win very many of the bets uh fitz let's
13:04ask one question about k-state on the way out we're actually starting to get some newsmakers it's been
13:08a bit of a slow time uh they're recruiting everybody it doesn't matter if you're committed
13:12or not they're doing something uh should we be excited yeah extremely aggressive uh pushing the top
13:1825 in college recruiting rankings which is far beyond what kansas state's done in the past
13:23four two four stars and about six really high three stars that are pushing four um so you know they
13:31still got ways to improve this recruiting down the road but this class is a major step forward
13:36i think they want to get up to 25 as soon as they're done with this recruiting period so they
13:42can focus on
13:43the team at hand and focus on the 28 class because you're already behind in that class you were way
13:49behind in the 27 class and then another class down the road you're still behind but you can try to
13:55catch up a lot of high school recruiting uh that was one thing sorry paul to cut you off here

14:00was one thing that colin klein talked about is that he wants to do it the old school way and
14:04everybody
14:04said is there even room to even do things the old school way is this the old school way of
14:09getting
14:09a bunch of high school kids yes it is but the timing is certainly not the old school way for
14:16kansas state it's always been put off to a little bit too late and he's getting way ahead of the
14:20rush
14:21right now it's pretty impressive what they're doing there you go tim fitzgerald says to be excited
