04:58point right in a lot of things uh that need to happen in college sports and i think this one
05:04especially is going to be a case that we're going to look at uh from everybody outside of texas tech's
05:08realm uh of like well they messed up here and we should not have this discussion you know
05:16this guy should not be granted injunction to play college football uh when he's been betting on
05:21games and everything else for the last three four years so what can happen from a big 12 standpoint

06:05the conference i could see them outside of football saying we'll not play you in any other sport you
06:11know i could see them putting some sort of pressure uh you know like we're not going to do that

06:37feeling the big 12 teams there's gonna be a lot of teams who are not scheduled to play texas tech
06:41who are gonna be like i don't want tech in my schedule they're you know they're playing quarterback
06:45that was suspended should be suspended for gambling right now um so i think we'll see a lot of that

06:52like it'll have ramifications other sports more so than anything at least right now um and theoretically
06:58i guess you could have a team or two that'd be like i just refuse to play tech give us

07:02you know and that sends a real message you think k you would be willing to take the forfeit
07:11uh this is this is an interesting one let's we put it like this earlier in the show so the
07:15uh the the hand down i'd slap on the wrist if you want to call it that that the ncaa

07:20you uh which basically they took down a banner and put some asterisks next to wins and aren't the
07:27winningest program anymore i don't think because of i don't know if they are now or not uh but they
07:31had to lose that title if that's what the ncaa can do like what happens if they play the season

07:38and they they go to the national championship game somehow and then they have the hearing in february
07:44and they say actually he shouldn't have played the entire time those wins are all vacated does that
07:48matter from somebody that covers ku that happened to them they had to take down a final four banner
07:53yeah it absolutely matters right i mean you know vacating wins is a big deal in college sports you
07:59can't i mean obviously you can't change the emotion of winning a national championship or going to the
08:02national championship but like vacating and making this entire season for not is a big deal in my end
08:09and i mean like you know obviously in the moment uh i felt like punishment k you got was relatively
08:16tamed for how much it was made it out to be for years right we didn't know what it was
08:19but
08:20they talked about it but like losing the all-time winning record uh you know self getting suspended
08:26for a little bit like all that stuff like that stuff matters you can't sit there and downplay
08:30the all-time uh win record being taken away because of like ineligibility from a player that they might
08:38have played for not even really played but you know look i i think it absolutely is a big deal

08:46say these wins are vacated your natural champions are vacated if they get to that point do you think
08:53tech so here's the other part of it that i think we got to step back and consider is tech

09:00the fire a little bit here if they cut soresby he'll sue them doesn't he have the same precedent
09:06like they would they would be damaging his future and all those and that's how he won the case to
09:11begin with is tech kind of being held hostage here like what's the chances of that i mean i think
09:19there's a better chance they're just like winning above everything but i do think it's not so simple
09:24as for them to now just say sorry we don't care what you said judge you can't play i mean

09:30come out and already support him in the statement well they did but what choice do they have
09:35they always have a choice there's always a choice if he's but can't he sue them yeah but then they
09:40can counter sue guys this is america they'll just go back and forth and who's gonna sue who's not
09:44gonna sue i mean like come on there's no way the ncaa is already appealing yeah exactly exactly i mean
09:49there's no jurisdiction to end this what like these are all like we are entering territory that's not
09:54been happened before and now we're figuring out how much we can get away with and we can not get
09:59away with so like if they wanted to take a stand and say brent source but you are not going

10:05a quarterback next year figure out your own life they could absolutely do that and they knew about
10:09this stuff beforehand it's not like they didn't right like if they had any sense of like uh you
10:13know we care about the integrity of the game they would end for bottom in the first place right so

10:21fact that they didn't and they said okay we hope we get away with it and we hope it doesn't

10:26out publicly and it did come out publicly for years you know i think there were sour grapes
10:29something from the cincinnati side that's why it came out or whatever from what i read or what i
10:33understood um you know they were just hoping this would go away with no issue in my mind tech cody
10:41campbell saying oh you know like this is a broken system i didn't expect this outcome is just saving
10:46face it's complete bs i think this shows to me texas tech has winning over everything and that's what
10:53college athletics it is it is i mean like i'm not going to sit there and say there are plenty

10:57schools that wouldn't do the exact same thing i think tech is just the one that is the one caught
11:02in the the crossfire here right now is it like the is the butterfly effect the right word to use
11:08on brendan soarsby and jalen daniels both throw for 500 yards in a game in september and now college
11:14sports is about to just burst into flames i it may be it might be that's probably was the game

11:20made everybody think yeah this guy's premier he's premier quarterback 100 i don't think we've
11:26talked enough about uh the viral video of and the question of did tj cleland's drop in the end zone
11:34of a time i don't know if shrius knows about that when soars whenever that game happened i was in

11:39end zone shooting it on the field and soarsby overthrew receiver by 10 yards and just smoked me
11:44right in the face basically i tried to catch it and i dropped it and so i said maybe in

11:49couldn't have been a more catchable ball and so now the question arises after we know all the
11:55stuff we know now is that did he throw that ball away on purpose was he shaving and i dropped

12:00i i mean you miss out an opportunity to cancel or catch a ball from one of the most hated
12:06men in
12:06america that's right oh my god he's i i can't imagine walking down the street and being him now
12:12like this is it's it's gonna happen we give me give me uh shrius we've got the legislations out
12:20there it's bipartisan i know the sec and the big den don't like all of it but this this moment

12:25soarsby is sort of opening their eyes a little bit the lawmakers swear up and down this legislation
12:31would have prevented this i don't you know some lawyers disagree with that but what do you think
12:36the chances this legislation makes it through we know the president will sign it we're at a midterm
12:42election everybody's looking for brownie points right now the entire country has an appetite for
12:48this are we better than 50 percent that this piece of legislation gets through yeah i think so candidly
12:55i think the swordsby thing probably pushed it through more than anything right people want change
13:00and they want something this thing they want some level of control in college athletics
13:03swears be showing that there is no control it's just chaos and whoever has a better lawyers
13:07so i absolutely think legislation is about to go through and i mean i don't know it feels like
13:14every like two years something changes in college athletics i it's like hard for me to keep up
13:18sometimes because i'm like this change and that change and the waiver change and um we'll see if it
13:23has any real effect in the long run in the long scheme of things but yeah all right there's shrius
