00:04Experts have long been looking for a way to reverse the effects or totally cure the debilitating disease Alzheimer's.
00:10Now researchers say they've effectively been able to do the opposite, transferring the disease to a healthy young host.
00:16Something they say is helping them better understand the illness.
00:20The international team of researchers used a microbiota or fecal transplant to pass the Alzheimer's from an old rat to
00:25a young healthy one.
00:26And in just 10 days, the rest that received the Alzheimer's-laden transplant already began testing more poorly on cognition
00:32and memory tests compared to the control group.
00:35They say this is finally the definitive proof they were looking for with regards to the gut's microbiome and its
00:40contribution to cognitive diseases.
00:42With the researchers writing in their study that this opens up a whole new world, not just for treating dementia,
00:47but also for detecting it before symptoms even arise.
00:51With neuroscientist Yvonne Nolan saying about it, quote,
00:53Understanding the role of gut microbiomes during prodromal or early stage dementia before the potential onset of symptoms may open
01:00avenues for new therapy development or even individualized intervention.
01:05And while preventatives are always the best way to treat any illness since Alzheimer's currently has no treatment, it's even
01:10more paramount.
01:12Thanks, brother.
01:12Thanks
01:17Keep this really happy.
