A tornado ripped part of the roof off of an elementary school and impaled houses with lumber in Blue Mound, Illinois, leaving townspeople with weeks of cleanup.

00:00I mean, it was hot and it was windy.
00:02The wind picked up and it just started swirling.
00:05And I heard something hit the house and I'd been taking some stuff to the basement.
00:09So I grabbed my puppy and we ran to the basement.
00:13And then I just heard stuff falling.
00:15We went to the basement when we got the alert.
00:18And then it was just a lot of noise and the whole house was shaking.
00:23We thought the house was caving in on us.
00:26Yeah, it was scary.
00:28The power got torn off from the house at the box and then three of my trees are causing
00:34the power lines.
00:35I know everybody's is.
00:36I was like, oh my God, because we just cleaned up from last Thursday night.
00:41We had trees on the roof and had to get them off.
00:45And now this, half the trees in the backyard are gone.
00:49I'm in shock.
