00:14and 56-year-old M. Sarawana are accused of robbing a 65-year-old woman of a gold necklace
00:20worth more than 32,000 ringgit at a morning market in Brickfields on June 5. The charge
00:27was framed under Section 395 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20
00:33years and may also include a fine or whipping upon conviction. The prosecution did not offer bail.
00:40However, defense counsel appealed for lower bail, telling the court that both accused are the sole
00:46breadwinners of their families. The court granted bail of 10,000 ringgit with two local sureties to
00:52Sarawana, while Nagorkani was denied bail. Both men were also ordered to surrender their passports
00:58to the court pending the disposal of the case. The case was fixed for mention on July 8.
