Another day in court for former army chief Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, who on Friday (Jan 23) faced two fresh money laundering charges totaling RM145,000.

This comes just one day after he pleaded not guilty to four other charges involving more than RM2.1 million.

00:00Another day in court for former Army Chief Tanshri Muhammad Hafizuddin Jantan, who faced two fresh money laundering charges totaling 145,000 ringgit.
00:12This comes just a day after the 58-year-old pleaded not guilty to four other charges involving more than 2.1 million ringgit.
00:20The two new charges allege that Hafizuddin received proceeds from illegal activities.
00:25115,000 ringgit in one transaction and 30,000 ringgit in another.
00:31Both amounts were allegedly deposited into his bank account at a branch in Ampang Point between February 2024 and May 2025.
00:41The charges were brought under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, which carries severe penalties, a maximum jail term of 15 years,
00:49and a fine of either five times the amount involved or 5 million ringgit, whichever is higher.
00:56Hafizuddin pleaded not guilty after both charges were read out before Judge Datuk Muhammad Nasir Nordeen.
01:03In a move to streamline proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mahadi Abdul Jumaat requested that the two charges be transferred to Sessions Court 9 in Kuala Lumpur,
01:13where the previous four charges are being heard.
01:17Judge Muhammad Nasir maintained the bail condition set yesterday by Judge Azura Alwi, 250,000 ringgit, with two sureties.
01:27Hafizuddin must also report to authorities once a month during the first week
01:31and has been ordered to surrender his passport until the case concludes.
01:36The defense, led by lawyer Aizul Rohan Anuar, did not oppose the transfer request.
01:41The case has been set for mention on March 30 at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, where document submissions are scheduled.
