00:0054% of Londoners say that they are feeling less safe generally in the city, but that half of people
00:06belies that there is a real gender division in the perceptions of safety in the city.
00:10So six in 10 women are feeling less safe. And that compares to just under half of men.
00:16And I guess that the not particularly surprising, given some of the high profile stories that happened to women, even
00:22from positions of authority like within the Met.
00:24So I think the kind of key takeaways from the poll are this growing sense that London is becoming less
00:31safe for the people that live here.
00:33There are a number of breakdowns that we can look at to understand who is maybe feeling that the worst.
00:38So women are definitely groups that are struggling a lot. But men, too, are complaining that they feel that the
00:45city is becoming less safe for them.
00:47Another really key thing to take away from it is that it's not just about whether or not the city
00:51is safe for you on a personal level.
00:53It's also how you think the city is doing overall. So people that say that they feel safe themselves are
00:59still saying that they find the city to be becoming less safe overall.
01:03A huge part of the experience of a general sense of unsafety comes down to the things we see in
01:08the news, the things we hear about from our friends.
01:10So while it would be very important to target women specifically, I think it's very important that the Met and
01:15the government in London do start thinking about how they can make the city feel safer as a whole,
01:19because that will have a huge knock on effect on how people are feeling.
01:23So let's see.
