00:00The spectacle, of course, was the presence of the president, Donald Trump,
00:03who became the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game.
00:50You heard Mike Francesa say it's on Shine Time yesterday,
00:55and you heard Mike Breen say it during the broadcast.
00:59Donald Trump, longtime Knicks fan, and the president attended Game 3 for his hometown team,
01:06and the team that he has been in attendance for, Madison Square Garden,
01:10throughout his entire adult life, at whatever walk of life he's been in,
01:14whether it's an entrepreneur, celebrity apprentice, you know, his real estate businesses,
01:20and he without question got booed.
01:22And then took a nap.
01:24He went to sleep.
01:26And, you know, obviously he was not interested in paying attention to the Knicks in the second half of the
01:34game.
01:34I mean, there was a social media video, there was Diet Coke in his hands.
01:38Madison Square Garden is a Pepsi arena.
01:41I always want a Diet Coke over a Diet Pepsi.
01:44So anytime you have a D.C., especially one that's a fountain, a little bit of ice, that's a big
01:49win.
01:50You know, Trump after said, you know, he heard a ton of cheers.
01:54You know, he's playing to the crowd.
01:55Clearly, you heard it right there.
01:58I mean, that was a loud chorus of boos.
02:01And usually, if you have followed what Trump has done going to sporting events,
02:07he's been supremely intelligent playing the home crowd advantage.
02:13He's been in the South.
02:15He's been in college football games.
02:17He has been in Army-Navy games.
02:19He goes to SEC, goes to the national title game.
02:24UFC, obviously.
02:25That's one that I think, you know, he'd get a different reaction, and he already has, right?
02:30Now you take a look at last night.
02:32I mean, that was the expectation in New York that he was going to get booed.
02:38And you saw the watch parties.
02:40He was booed in the garden, outside the garden.
02:43Of course, there was that element of inconvenience, right, where it took, you know,
02:49people a long time to get into the arena.
02:51The press took a long time.
02:53It's the Secret Service.
02:54Everyone's going to be there, obviously, as they should be,
02:57protecting the president of the United States.
03:00So the watch parties still existed.
03:02They were just in different locations.
03:05I talked to a bunch of people, fans, who were in attendance last night.
03:09They were online for a while, but the buzz was so palpable in that arena.
03:16And MSG from all reports and people I talked to, once you got in,
03:22and it really started moving around 630, it was business as usual.
03:26So I was a little surprised.
03:29And again, Trump was invited by James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks, right?
03:34And they've been friends for a very, very long time.
03:39Trump is usually one of those who kind of, you know,
03:42sticks his finger out the window to see where the wind is blowing.
03:46Mildly surprised that he picked Madison Square Garden and New York City
03:50to make that appearance.
03:53Certainly, you know, Knicks fans not happy that something, obviously,
03:57at the end of the day, you know,
03:58curbed the enthusiasm for the team and stopped the 13-game winning streak.
04:03Listen, Donald Trump didn't, you know, control the officiating
04:06or, you know, how Mikkel Bridges or Karl-Anthony Towns ultimately going to show.
04:11Listen, having the president in the building added to the intensity
04:15and the feel last night, no question about it.
04:18But no surprise that Trump got booed, and that was not a light boo.
04:23You know, he said after he heard some cheers,
04:27I did not hear what he heard last night.
04:29Donald Trump booed during the Knicks game.
04:32That was obviously the most predictable result.
