00:00:01МУЗЫКАЛЬНАЯ ЗАСТАВКА
00:00:39Just days after the chequered flag in Monaco,
00:00:42it was time for sprint race Saturday here in Barcelona,
00:00:46round three of the Formula 3 championship.
00:00:50Down towards the first corner,
00:00:52we had James Wharton leading the way,
00:00:56coming past Gerard G.
00:00:58An incident out of the final corner you saw there
00:00:59with Ernesto Rivera.
00:01:01Plenty of overtaking drama
00:01:03when championship leader Ugo Ugachuku
00:01:05spun coming through turn three,
00:01:08but out front it would be James Wharton
00:01:10who took the win for Prima Racing,
00:01:13a first podium for him this season
00:01:15and his second win in Formula 3.
00:01:18Well, welcome, everyone, to Grand Prix Sunday.
00:01:21It's time to go racing once again
00:01:23in the Formula 3 championship.
00:01:25Full 25 points available to your winner today.
00:01:29This is how they start.
00:01:31This is how they finished in qualifying.
00:01:34That's what the grid is going to look like today.
00:01:36My name, Chris McCarthy.
00:01:38Piers Pryor alongside me.
00:01:40Piers, we saw James Wharton taking the win
00:01:42from Freddie Slater and Gerard G yesterday.
00:01:45Behind, though, there were some penalties in the race.
00:01:48Yeah, we had some in-race and post-race penalties
00:01:51and changes as well.
00:01:52We saw during the race
00:01:53that Maciej Gwadish got an out-of-position penalty.
00:01:57Also, Matteo Di Palo and Christian Ho
00:02:00followed Maciej Gwadish up one grid slot
00:02:03higher than they should have done
00:02:04after we saw Matteo Colnaghi come in the pit lane.
00:02:09So they all received penalties.
00:02:10It wasn't a good day for Christian Ho.
00:02:11Three penalties, unfortunately.
00:02:13Out of position at the start,
00:02:14then jumped the start
00:02:15and then also got a gaining an advantage penalty
00:02:17by cutting turns two and three,
00:02:19as did Nando and Berenbakti.
00:02:21Nicola La Corte also jumped the start.
00:02:23And then during yesterday's sprint race,
00:02:24we saw contact between Brando Badawer
00:02:27and Ernesto Rivera at the last corner.
00:02:30It's what we saw in the highlights there.
00:02:32Yeah, exactly.
00:02:32Yeah, that contact we saw in the highlights.
00:02:34Yeah, so basically, unfortunately,
00:02:35a technical issue for Rivera
00:02:36meant that Badawer had nowhere to go.
00:02:38That penalty was applied during the race,
00:02:39but then the stewards reviewed it
00:02:41and I think rightly found,
00:02:44found that Brando Badawer had nowhere to go.
00:02:46So that he actually did finish 10th on the road
00:02:48in the end after the amended results
00:02:50and gained a point for that position.
00:02:52Yeah, I think rightfully rescinded that penalty.
00:02:55As you saw, a technical issue for Ernesto Rivera.
00:02:58We had Hugo Ugachuku spin.
00:02:59Matteo Colnaghi retired from the race as well.
00:03:02Okay, let's go through the grid.
00:03:03This is how they qualified on Friday.
00:03:06Jin Nakamura, an incident for him in qualifying.
00:03:09He's at the back.
00:03:10Ricardo Escoto making his debut this weekend,
00:03:12replacing Brad Benavidez, who has an injury.
00:03:16Yevan David and Wu-Khan Shin will be on road 14
00:03:19and then it is Mexican driver Jose Garfias
00:03:22and Finn McLaughlin, the Red Bull junior.
00:03:25Fernando Barrichello is on road 12.
00:03:29Pedro Claro next to him.
00:03:31Let's see how he can go in this one.
00:03:33He's ninth in the championship.
00:03:35Noah Stromstad, 11th in the sprint race from 22nd yesterday.
00:03:38Christian Ho will just be looking for a clean race.
00:03:41Nandavud Birubakti picked up a track limit penalty.
00:03:44That could be one to watch during the race.
00:03:46Matteo Di Paolo is alongside him.
00:03:48False starts for Nicola Lecorte.
00:03:50He's going to be on row nine.
00:03:52Three-place penalty for Maciej Gwadish,
00:03:54which he picked up in qualifying.
00:03:57Louis Sharp and Mattia Kulnaghi will be on row eight.
00:04:01Points for Louis Sharp yesterday.
00:04:03Then we have Canato Lee and Williams Jr.
00:04:06Alessandro Giusti.
00:04:08Gerard G now has three-point scores and two podiums.
00:04:13He's alongside winner from yesterday, James Wharton.
00:04:16Freddie Slater was on the podium yesterday.
00:04:18Back-to-back podiums for him, Tuka Tappanen.
00:04:21A solid result for him in the sprint race yesterday.
00:04:24Enzo Deligny, fifth in the sprint race.
00:04:26He's going to be on row four with Ernesto Rivera,
00:04:29who retired from the sprint race.
00:04:30Bruno Del Pino, the home hero, he is on row three
00:04:34with Taito Carter, who came from the pit lane to 15th yesterday.
00:04:38Brando Badawer is on row two, our Monaco feature race winner.
00:04:42And Hiyu Yamakoshi, who was seventh in the sprint race,
00:04:45picking up his first points of the season.
00:04:47An all-campus racing front row.
00:04:50Ugo Ugochuku, we saw him spin through turn three.
00:04:54And Teofield now, a record-equalling third consecutive toll for him
00:05:00in Formula 3, matching the records set by Logan Sargent.
00:05:04And Rafa Kamara looking for his first win of the season.
00:05:09And off they go for the formation lap,
00:05:11Piers, before it will be 25 laps of feature race action.
00:05:14As you mentioned, Chris, 25 laps of feature race.
00:05:17We had 21 laps in the sprint yesterday,
00:05:19and we saw that the tyre management of these Pirelli tyres yesterday
00:05:22in the baking sun was not easy.
00:05:25Some drivers falling away towards the end in terms of pace.
00:05:28However, conditions are actually quite different this morning.
00:05:31It's only 8.40 in the morning local time,
00:05:34so the sun hasn't had a chance to bake the circuit.
00:05:37Air temperature still a balmy, 22 degrees,
00:05:39but track temperature 31 degrees, which is not cold.
00:05:42However, it's a good 10, 15 degrees cooler than yesterday,
00:05:46which means these Pirelli tyres will last just that little bit better
00:05:49than we saw yesterday.
00:05:50I reckon time management is going to be about similar
00:05:52to what we saw in the shorter race yesterday.
00:05:54A great qualifying for Hiyu Yamakoshi,
00:05:56picking up his best results of the season.
00:05:59He's behind in all campos front row.
00:06:01Let's hear what the top three had to say after qualifying on Friday,
00:06:05starting with Hiyu Yamakoshi.
00:06:10Of course, that's the plan.
00:06:13T1 is quite wrong from the start point.
00:06:16You know, many times I saw a P3 guy going to P1 on the start,
00:06:22so that's my plan, basically.
00:06:26Yeah, not really much discussions yet.
00:06:30Of course, try to keep it clean as much as possible in the first lap,
00:06:33and then I think it'll be a case of, you know, whoever has better pace
00:06:38later off in the race is ultimately going to come down to get the win.
00:06:44From my point of view, I would just try to stay calm, clean with Hugo.
00:06:49We need some good points for the team, for the championship,
00:06:52for him, for me as well.
00:06:54So, yeah, I mean, like we did in Melbourne,
00:06:57so that was a clean race.
00:07:01Precisely that, Teofil Niall is fifth in the championship, Piers.
00:07:0616 points back from Ugo Ugachuku.
00:07:09Just needs a good run.
00:07:10He could really do with a race win.
00:07:12If he picks up the win with the fastest lap,
00:07:14he could half the gap to his teammate in the championship.
00:07:17Yeah, Niall's had a pretty good start to the season,
00:07:19all things considered, sitting fifth in the standings.
00:07:22But as you mentioned, gap two, our two leaders,
00:07:24of Ugachuku and Slater, does need to start to come down,
00:07:28especially considering Niall's been on pole
00:07:29for every feature race this season, including this one.
00:07:32So, therefore, he needs to convert eventually.
00:07:34But we heard in his interview yesterday
00:07:37that he's not in a rush to get a race win.
00:07:40But, you know, ultimately, he'll be starting to ask questions
00:07:42if he keeps getting polled without being able to convert them.
00:07:45And we're getting into the meat and potatoes of the season now,
00:07:48so some wins wouldn't go amiss
00:07:50for a championship challenge from our Campos driver number one on pole.
00:07:54Yeah, three Aramco pole positions for him now,
00:07:57and a long run, as Hiye Yamakoshi said,
00:07:59peers down towards the first corner.
00:08:00Interesting that Yamakoshi there relaxed in the interview,
00:08:03but he's a driver that is definitely looking to try
00:08:05and get another win on the road.
00:08:08Unfortunately, he took that win on the road in Monaco,
00:08:09and then that was snatched away from him
00:08:11after a post-race amendment.
00:08:13But he'll be looking to try and get involved.
00:08:15The VARs were strong yesterday,
00:08:16all three of them inside the top ten, weren't they,
00:08:17after the chequered flag.
00:08:19And Yamakoshi, a very, a bit of a smiling assassin, isn't he?
00:08:23He's always relaxed and chatty behind the scenes,
00:08:26but an absolute confessor on the circuit.
00:08:28He'll be looking to try and make use of that.
00:08:30Long run down towards turn one off the line.
00:08:32The start, the launch, is going to be critical.
00:08:35F1 point style, 25 going to the winner.
00:08:3725 laps ahead of us in this feature race.
00:08:39To the left of screen, Ugo Ugochukwu to the right.
00:08:42Your pole sitter, Teofil Nile.
00:08:44We'll go for the feature race in Barcelona.
00:08:47Great launch from Higgyu Yamakoshi.
00:08:49Off the second row, he's gone straight into second place
00:08:52and now looking to make the attack on Teofil.
00:08:55Now down towards the first corner.
00:08:57Here comes Higgyu Yamakoshi round the outside.
00:09:00Is he going to go to the lead of the race?
00:09:02No.
00:09:02Has to take to the escape.
00:09:04Does not take the proper rejoin, though,
00:09:06and it's gone into the lead of the race.
00:09:08That could be looked into.
00:09:09Nile is second on the road for now.
00:09:11And then we have Ugo Ugochukwu next
00:09:13as Higgyu Yamakoshi lets Teofil Nile go through.
00:09:17Interesting, he's letting him back through.
00:09:18We've got a big dive up the inside.
00:09:19Oh, Nagi, turn four and round the outside.
00:09:22That's one of the ARTs going together.
00:09:24But yeah, great start from Yamakoshi.
00:09:26Couldn't hold it around the outside.
00:09:27Down towards turn five we go for the first time.
00:09:31We've got the red and black ART.
00:09:33One of them going round the outside there
00:09:35as they head downhill for the first time.
00:09:37That's Taito Kato trying to pass
00:09:39the red and white frame of James Wharton
00:09:42down through seven and eight
00:09:43and up towards turn nine for the first time.
00:09:46So a clean start then.
00:09:48All 30 cars circulating so far
00:09:51as they head downhill for the first time.
00:09:53This is where they'll have DRS next time, Tiss.
00:09:56Defensive goes to Katafelen.
00:09:58The orange MP is round the outside.
00:10:00Looks to go Noah Stromstead.
00:10:01Stromstead's got that done,
00:10:02and he's got good grip at this early stages.
00:10:04He's now already pressuring the back of one of the VARs
00:10:07and now actually back up the inside.
00:10:08Looks to go the MP of Tukatafelen side by side.
00:10:12What a busy first lap
00:10:13as the 11 of Maciej Gwadish goes side by side
00:10:16with the seven of Matija Kornnagy through 13 as well.
00:10:19You might have seen a white and black rodent in the background.
00:10:21I think Christian Ho, that is,
00:10:22has had a poor start to the race
00:10:24and has dropped down at the field
00:10:26as they now make their way across the line for the first time.
00:10:30Finn McLaughlin, likewise,
00:10:31a bit of a difficult start for him.
00:10:33In towards the first corner,
00:10:34this looks like Freddie Slater in the Trident
00:10:36going round the outside of Enzo De Ligny
00:10:38and that is a move made for Slater.
00:10:41P7, it is for the Trident drive.
00:10:42That was a lovely move from Slater
00:10:44and also for Slater,
00:10:46he did that without DRS.
00:10:48DRS will be active for this first time
00:10:50on this lap down towards turn 10.
00:10:51Slater already past one
00:10:53and attacking a second this lap already.
00:10:55I'm looking forward to getting a look at the start again
00:10:57because actually, in my mind, Di,
00:10:59Yamakoshi probably was entitled to the space on the outside.
00:11:02He was ahead.
00:11:02Unfortunately, Christian Ho's weekend yesterday,
00:11:05three penalties and now into the pit,
00:11:07what looks like a puncture repair.
00:11:09Real shame for Christian Ho
00:11:11into the pit lane a weekend to forget for him.
00:11:14We'll be back for another doubleheader in two weeks' time.
00:11:18Great, sir.
00:11:18It's not my friend.
00:11:20Now, yellow flag is out somewhere
00:11:23so I wonder if we have someone in trouble
00:11:25through the first sector.
00:11:26Let's call it as we see it in picture for now
00:11:28and that is Niall leading Yamakoshi by Ugechiku
00:11:31and he is threatening to break DRS here.
00:11:34Yellow flags have now been rescinded
00:11:37so we are green on track once again
00:11:39and Tearfield Niall has one second over Yamakoshi
00:11:42so Yamakoshi could be in real trouble
00:11:45coming down towards the first corner next time.
00:11:48Yamakoshi is just half a second behind here.
00:11:50They come out of the final corner
00:11:51and Yamakoshi is able to regain that DRS
00:11:54as we come over the line to start lap three.
00:12:25That was critical in the race for Yamakoshi to get that DRS.
00:12:26which are further down the order.
00:12:28Woo Hyeon Shin is in the pit lane as well
00:12:29so I wonder if there's been a coming together between those two.
00:12:32Freddie Slater and Tuga Tapanen have been noted for leaving the track
00:12:35and gaining an advantage
00:12:37and as you've just spotted Piers, yellow flags out there
00:12:41as we now see.
00:12:42This is Woo Hyeon Shin and Yevon David
00:12:45so he's lost his front wing
00:12:46and Woo Hyeon Shin, I think they've got a tyre ready to put on
00:12:50so I wonder if he had the puncture there as well.
00:12:52I think actually the back of that board, Chris,
00:12:54it was a slippery or a change of surface flag
00:12:56with red and white stripes.
00:12:57We've got a virtual safety car.
00:12:58I imagine we saw a yellow flag track sector seven
00:13:02which is down through turns six and seven.
00:13:04I imagine there was probably contact between those drivers
00:13:06the previous lap with pieces of debris and bodywork on circuit
00:13:10which we just saw the great marshalling team here at the circuit
00:13:13to Barcelona-Catalunya retrieving.
00:13:15The big movers so far, Slater looks like he's got good early race pace.
00:13:20We saw Niall got a good start, Yamakoshi's looking pretty good at this stage
00:13:23and actually this virtual safety car will give Yamakoshi an opportunity
00:13:27to just cool off his tyres and maybe go again to try and stick within DRS.
00:13:32It could be ending any moment now.
00:13:35Two things we did saw yesterday is track limits could be a thing
00:13:38and also tyres as well.
00:13:40You've got to keep the tyre wear down as it looks like VSC is now ending.
00:13:46Down towards the first corner we go and we await to go green once again
00:13:51in this feature race and off we go and straight away
00:13:54and that looks like Bruno Deltino right behind Ugachukwu
00:13:59and here's Matteo DiPaolo, one of the tridents going down the outside of
00:14:04Nando Mourinho, back to him, whoa!
00:14:06Five cars all together there fighting away, one of the dams cars going wide.
00:14:11That's the battle that Matteo DiPaolo is in and he now leads that one
00:14:14as further up the road Matteo Kilnaghi having to defend from Alessandro Giusti
00:14:19coming down to turn four.
00:14:21Oh, Stromstead around the outside of four. Stromstead is looking good as well.
00:14:24These tridents are able to fire these Pirelli tyres up pretty well
00:14:27and oh, two of the grass sliding sideways.
00:14:29The 17 there going through turn five.
00:14:32Clairo, we saw him again racy yesterday once again today looking for that move
00:14:37that we've seen a couple of times outside of four turning to the inside of five
00:14:40but given no room on the exit but coming from position behind the driver ahead
00:14:44means that, you know, it's a bit of a high-risk manoeuvre. Yamakashi just clinging on to DRS.
00:14:49It looked like absolutely the limit of one second as he came through turn nine
00:14:53but the DRS helped him stay within touch of Niall but Ugachuku now looking like he's coming on strong
00:14:58as we see Louis Sharp side by side with Clairo making the outside line work there.
00:15:04We haven't seen that work so many times this weekend so good move from Sharp.
00:15:07Louis Sharp up to P16. Teofield Niall has an eight-tenth of a second margin over Yamakashi.
00:15:13with Slater looking like the one to watch for Trident flying through the field.
00:15:17Next on his list is Badawer. He's tied for the lead in the championship with Ugachuku
00:15:22and so we'll have his eyes on that white Campos but first it's on the red of the white and
00:15:27black
00:15:28Rodin of Badawer right ahead of him through the first corner we go and Slater right behind
00:15:35the Rodin driver as the fight for the podium positions intensifies this.
00:15:39Campos van Amersfoort. Campos van Amersfoort Rodin as it stands right now.
00:15:45Niall looking good at the front of the field just controlling the pace at this stage I would
00:15:49suggest. Ugachuku is going to come on strong mid to later in the race I think at the pre-season
00:15:54test we had here in conditions almost identical to this. Ugachuku had a tenth or two on the rest of
00:16:00the field as the tyres fell away. He was very good at keeping these pro-ready tyres very much operating
00:16:05at a high
00:16:05speed throughout a longer run. Might well just be biding his time you know just taking stock it
00:16:11not a huge amount he could have done he got not as quite as good a launch as Yamakoshi off
00:16:15the line
00:16:15don't forget it was Ugachuku on the inside off of the normal swept racing line so Yamakoshi making the
00:16:21most of the slightly cleaner side of the grid but we haven't seen the van Amersfoort maybe being the
00:16:26pace setters at any stage of course they may have taken steps forward since that pre-season test but
00:16:31Kampos with their home race very much the team to beat teams champions in this division last year as
00:16:37well and it seems like they've taken even another step forward experienced driver line up with Niall and
00:16:42Ugachuku at the front of the field and don't forget Rivera not far back he's in seventh place but this
00:16:47front few drivers still very much in a DRS train although it looks like Niall is just keeping Yamakoshi at
00:16:54arm's length for now he is down towards the first corner Yamakoshi has that DRS both down this start
00:17:02finish straight and down to turn 10 as well plenty of battles within the top 10 as we look back
00:17:08now at
00:17:09the race start this yeah perfect start from Niall and also great start from Yamakoshi on the outside of
00:17:14uh on the outside of row two in the 14 that's how we got straight away past the Gachukka we
00:17:19saw
00:17:19Tuka Tapanen two was in the glass but look at this Yamakoshi gets ahead by the apex and then gets
00:17:24forced off we haven't heard in radio there but if I was a driver I'd be saying I'd be calling
00:17:28foul
00:17:29there because I think Yamakoshi if he feels like he could have stayed within track limits and was only
00:17:34forced off by Ugachuku sorry not by Taito Phil Niall then potentially is entitled to keep that place but
00:17:40maybe just playing the long game decided to just drop the in behind and let it play out on circuit
00:17:45that was
00:17:45big wheelspin from Taito Carter which is why he dropped down a couple of positions off the grid
00:17:49we're on board with Ernesto Rivera Colnaghi now the other red ball junior round the outside of two
00:17:54is that Slater without Stromstead taking an early exit through turn two yeah they think that was uh
00:18:00Noah Stromstead wasn't it as uh they now make their way through three up towards turn four with Mattia
00:18:07Colnaghi will be hoping for a clean race as he dives down the inside uh here but this is on
00:18:13Canato Lee Mattia Colnaghi trying to get through oh and dripped in through the corner that appears
00:18:19such car control don't forget they're all in the dirty air there the turbulent air means the cars
00:18:23move around more than they would normally cooler tires than we're used to ah that was the course that
00:18:28was Wuxian Shin was Wuxian Shin clattering into the side of both of the IAC's there and this was
00:18:33Freddy Slater's lovely slip up the inside uh as he went down towards the turn one one of his earlier
00:18:39moves
00:18:39on the number three of Ernesto Rivera so Slater looking to try and put himself in a position where
00:18:44he can go back to back podiums here in well it'll be three podiums in a row this this uh
00:18:49this championship
00:18:50but we'll be back to back podiums this weekend he's within touching distance of the leading group
00:18:54still in fact all of the top well top 14 really down to Gerard Shee still very much nose to
00:19:01tail now
00:19:02Slater is under investigation uh for leaving the track and gaining an advantage as you picked up
00:19:08here's a turn one instant Niall and Yamakoshi noted for forcing another driver off the track now the
00:19:15race direction team the stewards will be looking at that this notice are not under investigation yet
00:19:19but noted normally means it's on their list of to do oh big dive from Pedro Claro at turn seven
00:19:24excellent move who did we see do that in formula two yesterday it was uh Colton Hurta was one of
00:19:28the
00:19:28the only drivers that made a move there but Claro taking a leap out of her to his book and
00:19:32lovely
00:19:33little move there and that's actually taken the seven uh by surprise of Matea Colman I can give a
00:19:39bit of space as we've got an inter-dam's battle that could go three impressed that's going to end in
00:19:43tears and it does the number 30 Nandavudbidambakti uh goes round uh and we've got the other dam's car
00:19:50going off of Nicola LaCorte uh it looks like his race possibly coming to an end he's just trying to
00:19:56uh get on an escape road but Nandavudbidambakti doesn't look like he's going any further in this
00:20:01race does he just about gets going again could be a long trip back to France for the dam's team
00:20:07there could be yeah yeah it was a looked an ambitious move uh from LaCorte I think that might
00:20:12have been on the inside but uh LaCorte has come to a stop this could be a safety car or
00:20:17a virtual
00:20:17safety car the good news is LaCorte is parked right by a uh a gap in the barrier where he
00:20:22could get
00:20:23retrieved quite quickly however unfortunately LaCorte was going up the inside of his teammate
00:20:27bringing back in they both break so late they were then on the inside of uh is it Escoto I
00:20:33think so
00:20:34yeah actually LaCorte took to the inside the runoff on the inside of the corner to try to avoid contact
00:20:38but let's have a look again so the 28 going up the inside that is LaCorte Escoto so LaCorte going
00:20:45up
00:20:45the inside bin and back D and then contact between them and uh he was almost off the circuit on
00:20:50the
00:20:51inside let's here we go this is it again Piers so the 28 yeah up the inside yeah and I
00:21:01think they
00:21:01just both broke so late that they had no chance choice but to go to the inside of the AIX
00:21:06ahead
00:21:07and then they just three into one doesn't go Chris and unfortunately the contact was between the two
00:21:11teammates and we heard that LaCorte not exactly very pleased with that uh virtual safety car for now
00:21:17because they think the race direction team think that they can get that car retrieved fairly swiftly
00:21:22in fact there we are evidence great job with their marshals how quickly it pounced upon that
00:21:25an absolute army of them ready to to guess is racing once again but once again we've got a virtual
00:21:30safety car restart coming to an end fairly shortly Yamakoshi again only just just within DRS but I think
00:21:39he needs he needs to stay within DRS as soon as he loses the DRS he could fall down the
00:21:44order fairly
00:21:45quickly Uga Chukwu has been noted for driving erratically as well so a few investigations uh
00:21:50going on a few things on the list for the stewards as we are now back green here in Barcelona
00:21:55round three
00:21:56feature race of Formula 3 Teofil Nile in search of his first win Yamakoshi in search of a first podium
00:22:02and
00:22:02then we've got our championship leader Uga Chukwu who is tied on points with P6 Freddy Slater this is the
00:22:08look
00:22:08on board of Ernesto Rivera points to your top 10 we've got Tapanen behind and Taito Kato four
00:22:14start for him off the line he's dropped from fifth to tenth place as they head through turn four now
00:22:20and it looks like we have a five second time penalty for Freddy Slater for leaving the track and gaining
00:22:26an advantage and I think that might have been the first lap didn't see that actually so maybe if we
00:22:33can get
00:22:33another look at that that would be great but for now Slater's just going to have to push on but
00:22:36that'll make
00:22:37it very hard for him if that penalty remains to get that third podium in a row and not exactly
00:22:42ideal
00:22:42for his championship hopeful hopes as he's now what currently still tied for the lead of the
00:22:47championship and 43 points with Uga Chukwu who's just up the road ahead we've got a bit of a break
00:22:52in
00:22:53the group at the front of the field haven't we it's and it's a Linghi that's basically backing up the
00:22:56the rest of the pack and then you've got now looking at the two ART drivers Kanato Lee being chased
00:23:03by
00:23:03his teammate of Maciej Guadish and that looks like Wichun Shin coming into pit lane just ahead in the
00:23:10high-tech car is down towards turn one Hiyu Yamakoshi is piling the pressure on Teofield now he's looking
00:23:17very quick and then the other Van Amersport there of Del Pino trying to get a podium on home soil
00:23:22Slater just now needs to make as much time as possible uh and Badouer does not really need to
00:23:27fight him and he will almost just allow Slater to go through knowing he has a five second penalty
00:23:32Slater's on the move got good pace at this stage the gap that's opened up behind Slater and what is
00:23:38now
00:23:39Badouer is going to help Slater because if he can drive into the space ahead of him that's going to
00:23:43push him
00:23:44further and further forward and away from that group which will be critical for his point score
00:23:48at the end of this feature race um we're looking at Tuka Tapanen now as he heads through turn five
00:23:54that's that sort of second cluster of cars this is Slater the driver that's under investigation
00:23:59here we can have a look at the replay here let's have a look he has a penalty for leaving
00:24:03the circuit
00:24:04gaining an advantage that's the trident there isn't it there he is just rejoining the circuit
00:24:08is that Slater yeah yeah it's okay so it wasn't it wasn't it was Slater so maybe he didn't give
00:24:14up
00:24:15any of the positions he gained but we're now looking at Strongstead going around the outside
00:24:18of Mattia Kolonagi what just about getting that done that was pretty much what Yamakoshi tried to
00:24:23do at turn one and then a bit rude from Strongstead's out there I would say Mikol Nagy was fairly
00:24:28well
00:24:28alongside on the exit of two wonder if anything will come of that yeah well we saw it there Slater
00:24:35running wide through turn one and the stewards feel he gained an advantage in doing so so he has
00:24:42a five second penalty one thing though is with this circuit big gaps can build you can already see that
00:24:48it's happening we see a lot of tyre degradation at this circuit and with that we can get big gaps
00:24:54filling up so Slater can still score himself some points today just needs a clean race to the end now
00:25:01and hope that there's no safety car that's a very good point Chris you mentioned the tyre management
00:25:05yes track temperature a bit lower than yesterday
00:25:07to start put pressure on him
00:25:11Rivera getting the hurry up from the team time to push they're saying but uh you mentioned tyres
00:25:16there Chris yesterday we saw the tyres especially the front left and rear left going away a lot
00:25:20has unfortunately been McLaughlin having a trip through the pits means that that's the end of his chances
00:25:24of any points today but Ugachuku fastest over the long runs seems quite happy to have seen the front
00:25:30two drop away at the moment maybe Ugachuku just getting himself some clean air getting the turbulence
00:25:36of his front wing to have a second push towards the end of this race that gap what just under
00:25:40two
00:25:41seconds that is surmountable for Ugachuku he can gain that back if he keeps his tyres in good check
00:25:46actually the safety car restart wasn't ideal for Ugachuku he was the biggest loser i think out of that
00:25:51Yamakoshi got it it's a good safety car restart but i'd be keeping half an eye on that final podium
00:25:55position because i think that gap could come down virtual safety car infringement uh there as well
00:26:01for Jin Nakamura uh so uh that's uh a disappointing race so far isn't it for Hightech they've had
00:26:08Wukun Shin come in Finn McLaughlin come in and now Jin Nakamura under investigation as well a bit of a
00:26:14weekend to forget for Hightech is out the final corner and down the start finish straight uh we are still
00:26:20neck and neck with Niall and Yamakoshi Nicola Lakorte he's back in the pit lane
00:26:26Nanda Vudbin and Bhakti he came together with coming down to turn 10 which brought out a virtual
00:26:31safety car Lakorte retiring from the race little detail though another virtual safety car um
00:26:38we'll keep you updated with what that is when we see it but a little detail there that i noticed
00:26:42Yamakoshi's DRS closed before he braked so that says to me a little bit of lift and coast actually
00:26:48deliberately not getting too close to the back of Teofil Niall's car through turns one two and three
00:26:54so he wants to stay within DRS but he's not trying to get right under the rear wing because the
00:26:58closer
00:26:58you get to the car in front the more dirty air the more turbulence off the back of that car
00:27:02there is
00:27:02the less your front wing can keep that front tire pinned to the road which means the more
00:27:07temperature goes through it so quite heads up driving there from Yamakoshi he's keeping that gap very
00:27:13much under control these very young drivers but thinking drivers spoke to here Yamakoshi at
00:27:17pre-season testing and he had a he had i think it was a i think we were there on
00:27:21i was it wednesday
00:27:21or thursday and he had an exam on the monday so that's exactly an example of how young these drivers
00:27:26are but they're still doing exams in school but they're able to race at this extremely high level
00:27:32and and also be thinking drivers as they are as actually at this stage Yamakoshi once again on the
00:27:38safety car restart closing the gap to Teofil Niall so either he's absolutely maxing out those safety
00:27:43car restarts or or Niall's not getting as much as he should out of them and you say that uh
00:27:48we actually
00:27:48have christian home missing the in-season test due to exams uh and we also have the turn two incident
00:27:53which you talked about pierce stromsted kilnaghi that has been noted for forcing another driver
00:27:59off the track as well down the start finish straight comes Higu Yamakoshi uh and Teofil Niall closing in
00:28:06uh with that DRS Teofil Niall just weaving to try and break the toe now Higu Yamakoshi saying hello
00:28:13in the mirrors there as uh they head in towards the first corner gap then back to Ugachuku no longer
00:28:20has DRS uh and that is allowing bruno delpino to put the pressure on you can see the bankings
00:28:26already full around the circuit and they will all be cheering on spaniard delpino as he heads into
00:28:32turn four delpino the driver in the championship this year the only one that scored in every
00:28:37single race keeping up that momentum at the moment five circle penalty for gin nakamura i
00:28:41imagine probably for that contact it was the i think that was the virtual safety car oh yeah
00:28:45the virtual safety car infringement yeah yeah good good good call chris but um interesting that was
00:28:50telling down towards turn one from our lead two Niall trying to break the toe and then Yamakoshi flashing his
00:28:55car in the mirrors it doesn't look like a lot but that will be a signal to Yamakoshi that Niall
00:29:00is feeling a
00:29:01little bit under pressure if Niall was completely comfortable he would have just sat directly on
00:29:05the racing line there so Niall not exactly feeling like he's able to pull away and manage the gap as
00:29:12quite as much as he would like although this lap from Niall has been much better the gap's gone from
00:29:16about six tenths to nine tenths in the middle sector and Ugachuku just starting to crawl his way back to
00:29:23our
00:29:23front two tell us about the mind games that goes on when you're in a battle for the lead like
00:29:27that in both
00:29:28positions you see Yamakoshi just always showing himself in the mirrors isn't he Niall trying to
00:29:32break the toe what's it like in the car do you know what chris it's really interesting i love
00:29:36seeing the little telltale signs like that from an outside perspective there's such the little
00:29:41movements of the car they make seem like nothing but the drivers are so in tune with what other
00:29:46drivers are doing in the race situation and they've raced against each other a lot before the
00:29:50little movements little slides Yamakoshi will be studying the attitude of Niall's car in every single corner
00:29:55sussing out where he's strong finding out where he's he's good where there are opportunities going
00:30:00forward how the body language of the car is as well i mentioned at the start of last lap
00:30:04little little jinx to try and break the toe says to Yamakoshi i'm putting pressure on here and he's
00:30:10feeling it absolutely that now we also have uh turn five incident between shin and david that was when we
00:30:17saw shin go into the back of yam and david coming down to this corner here that's under investigation
00:30:22for causing a collision any post-race penalties worth noting will if they are to turn into grid
00:30:29penalties they will be served in the next feature race so uh it's something that will be told to all
00:30:35the drivers now the likes of Jin Nakamura you've got to finish the race serve your penalty so it does
00:30:40not be converted into a grid penalty for the next feature race and that's been a real change for this
00:30:45year and you know chris to explain you know why why would they rather serve a penalty now why would
00:30:49they
00:30:49not just take it later if you've had an incident and it's taken you out of the points paying positions
00:30:53you would then rather get a penalty from a non-points paying position to a non-points
00:30:57paying position as we see Jin Nakamura trying to fight back is this the virtual safety can
00:31:02infringement or is that just an overtake i think that might just be might just be an overtake yeah
00:31:07the drivers you know who are out the points in this race due to incidents who may have
00:31:10penalties looming over them they never know they might have a good qualifying and be well
00:31:14inside the points next round and then to have that taken away from them if they hadn't
00:31:18served the penalty this round would be then the tactical player and that's why you often hear
00:31:22over the radio the team saying to the drivers make sure you finish the race we need to sell the
00:31:27penalty today and talking of penalties chris yeah we continue as a 10 second penalty for causing that
00:31:31collision and he's 29 so uh he's gonna have to now take the checkered flag so that does not convert
00:31:37into a grip penalty all come through pit lane and serve it okay rounds turn three up towards turn four
00:31:45this is the battles a little bit further back we've got Ernesto Rivera in the red bull livery leading
00:31:51this train of cars fighting for eighth place tapping in behind carto behind points to top 10
00:31:55so Wharton trying to get himself inside the points and then two more ART cars queuing up behind and in
00:32:01fact they're side by side now we've got the likes of uh uh Guadish and Canato Lee fighting away with
00:32:07each
00:32:07other Guadish in the 11 just ahead Canato Lee trying to get through i think that all started when uh
00:32:13Guadish sorry Canato Lee went wide at turn three didn't he we saw the dust being kicked up and then
00:32:18he would have had dirty tires the grit and marbles on the tires would have meant he had less grip
00:32:22and
00:32:22then Guadish's teammate taking advantage of the lack of grip and now also you can see the number 12
00:32:27they're just falling back into the clutches of Gerard Shee our podium sitter from yesterday
00:32:32Gerard Shee the the the sole uh unfazed dams remaining in this in this race he'll be completely unaware
00:32:39of the inter-team um disagreement that's gone on um but he's still pushing on trying to get himself in
00:32:45the podium positions as we've actually that's Del Pino going through ahead of Ugochikou change for
00:32:49the podium places Bruno Del Pino it must have been a poor exit you can see the dust in the
00:32:54background
00:32:55there appears Ugochikou must have run wide out the corner and that's allowed Del Pino to go through
00:33:00into third place yeah your your spidey senses are the same as mine Chris i reckon there has been a
00:33:04mistake at that last uh that last corner from Ugochikou and ultimately i i thought Ugochikou was
00:33:09the one that was going to be closing the gap but clearly not as comfortable as the Campos were hoping
00:33:14in this race we saw Niall feeling the pressure earlier let's have a look oh he got wide he got
00:33:19wide in the middle of turn one he lost that quite early in the corner so potentially from Ugochikou
00:33:24just turning in a bit later an early corner snap put him off of the racing line and we've spoken
00:33:29about that this weekend already and this is Kanatoly and Gwadish we're on board with Gwadish that's
00:33:34Kanatoly on our left teammates at ART this was after Kanatoly went wide at the turn three and then
00:33:39nice little move around the outside of turn five from Gwadish little lock up but unloaded
00:33:43tyre that won't do him too much harm as we cut back to our leaders Niall keeping Yamakoshi exactly
00:33:49one second for now no further investigation for leaving the track and gaining an advantage for
00:33:55tapping it Ugochikou has really struggled because of that hasn't he he's lost DRS
00:33:59to Del Pino and Slater is closing in as well Slater is carrying a five second penalty remember
00:34:07so for him he will not want to get involved in any real battles he's all about just trying to
00:34:12put as
00:34:13much distance between himself and the rest of the field but he has bad aware still for company
00:34:17in P6 as we head down to turn one on lap 70. So that gap we can see the back
00:34:22of shot that's helping
00:34:23Slater because he's his five second penalty is falling further and further up the order he's looking
00:34:29like he's still on for points if things continue without a safety car interruption safety car
00:34:33would be hugely detrimental for Freddie Slater with that five second penalty but interesting
00:34:38isn't it Chris how we saw uh the car we're looking at right now the number 12 of Kanatoly make
00:34:42that
00:34:43error at this corner turn three a couple of laps ago run wide lose grip picking up the marbles then
00:34:47lose a position Ugochikou the same situation wide just one car width wide at the racing line picking up dirt
00:34:54on his tires losing time but then also subsequently losing more time as the tires were dirty and that's
00:35:00a feature of this Barcelona circuit used so much throughout the season for testing and racing and
00:35:05loads of categories so the racing line very rubbing in and grippy as soon as you get one car wide
00:35:10then
00:35:10you end up picking dirt on your tires and then you're on the back foot for the next few laps
00:35:14and out
00:35:15front Piers the DRS has been broken we've got Terafil now that's the first time really in this race that
00:35:21he's broken DRS to Hiyu Yamakoshi you saw them coming down the start finish straight last time and there
00:35:26was no flat open for Yamakoshi meanwhile this looks like Taito Kato in the red and black ART firing down
00:35:34the inside of Tuka Tapanen this a fight for the lower point scoring positions ninth place Taito Kato
00:35:42trying to get by Tapanen who appears to be struggling with his tires a little bit two points versus one
00:35:47point for these positions currently Tuka Tapanen but Holden to two points although it may become
00:35:51more if they can stay within five seconds of Slater but that still still has to play out in this
00:35:56one
00:35:56but Kato confident very from very early on in pre-season testing as a rookie this season fighting
00:36:03with the most or the highest seeded driver from last year's Formula 3 championship Tuka Tapanen who's
00:36:09chipping away at the results but not had the absolute excellence that he was hoping for this season
00:36:14he'll be hoping to push on at the next event of the red ball ring but for now he's going
00:36:19to have to
00:36:19settle for the lower end of the points paying positions and we're trying his absolute best to
00:36:23hold on there's your live championship and does that take into account into account Chris
00:36:28the penalty for Slater I don't think it does no correct that's a good spot Ugeciku uh has
00:36:35caught Delpino back as well hasn't he he's got Slater with him uh and he's also uh got Badawer with
00:36:43him as
00:36:44well within a second rounds turns seven and eight this is going to be a four-way battle for third
00:36:51it looks like Delpino at the front of this train starts with the struggle
00:36:57yeah the gap has just really come down hasn't it Slater has that five second penalty Badawer could be
00:37:04one to watch from P6 but uh Ugeciku is going to be putting a lot of pressure under Delpino we
00:37:10could see
00:37:10a change down to turn one next time and is it a coincidence or is it something more that both
00:37:16of the
00:37:17VAR's second and third Yamakoshi and Delpino it looks like their pace has just switched off a
00:37:23little bit in the last couple of laps at the same time now the two Van Amersport racing drivers Yamakoshi
00:37:27and Delpino will be running roughly the same setup roughly the same tire pressures from the team
00:37:33so therefore whatever happens to one is likely to happen to the other if they've been driving
00:37:37similarly you can see Delpino he knows he's not in he's got the he's not got the pace at this
00:37:42stage
00:37:42of the race defensive actually I would say more than he needed to into turn one which is going to
00:37:46put
00:37:46him under increasing pressure from both Ugeciku and Slater right behind it's his home race and he'll
00:37:53want to get on the podium a podium here would mean more to him than anything else of course we've
00:37:59got
00:37:59Madrid coming up later in the season as well but I'm sure this is certainly Bruno Delpino has been
00:38:06doing not only many times in racing but spectator wise as well and this would mean a huge amount to
00:38:12him
00:38:13to get a podium here he's got Ugeciku behind Slater just trying to build that gap to the rest of
00:38:18the
00:38:19point scorers behind him we've got Baddoware next Enzo Deligny is looking pretty good in P7
00:38:25actually the third of the Van Amersports could be one to watch but Freddy Slater will want to clear
00:38:32Ugeciku and Delpino as quickly as possible peers and then hope they get into a battle
00:38:37this group's coming together as well that last lap Slater was the fastest of the front group
00:38:42actually no it wasn't Baddoware was even quicker so this is all coming together at this late stage of
00:38:47the race it's going to be five more as we go over the line this time Slater looking pretty good
00:38:51Baddoware just off the back of this group as well the Van Amersports late race pace not as strong as
00:38:57it was
00:38:57earlier on but for now things looking pretty stable and uh Van Amersports also have got of course
00:39:02Delingy at the back of this shot as well so if this all kicks off Delingy could get involved too
00:39:06here we go possible change of third incoming to the right of screen there Ugeciku is going to go
00:39:11around the outside uses the DRS to go straight by Bruno Delpino and that's a change in the podium
00:39:18places Ugeciku back into third and now Delpino who really appears to be struggling a little bit
00:39:24with those tires is going to have to deal with Freddy Slater behind Slater's going to be trying
00:39:28to make a clinical move he'll want to do exactly what Ugeciku did that time by next time around
00:39:33because he can't afford to get in a dice side by side for a few corners because any time lost
00:39:38for
00:39:38Slater is realistically positions lost further down the order that five second penalty at the moment
00:39:43would take him roughly to about eighth ninth tenth that Tapanen-Carta-Rivera battle uh I think
00:39:49somewhere slotting in let's have a look at this again this is actually between Tapanen and Carto
00:39:54side by side into one Tapanen giving Carto no space but Carto wasn't ahead at the apex so therefore I
00:40:00would say fair game on this occasion yeah down the inside Tapanen there lovely ART of Taito Carto
00:40:10round turn nine and into ten and currently Slater will drop to P8 on the road as oh that's a
00:40:20big
00:40:20lunge down the inside is it from Gerard G on Kanato Lee and Gerard G too wide and in fact
00:40:27that's going to be
00:40:27two places for one is it for Noah Stromsted who goes around the outside here at turn 12 almost contact
00:40:33but
00:40:33Noah Stromsted through great driving from the Trident driver that was a great example of how you have to be
00:40:38aggressive but slightly too aggressive you can see you go one up two down is that Slater that's lost
00:40:42positions I think it is yeah someone's gone wide there it is it it is Slater isn't it because
00:40:47Badawer has gone through and you saw all the dust in the background again same thing we saw with the
00:40:52Gachuku and Slater is now going to have to try and make that progress again was building a gap
00:40:57to the rest of the field we'll have a little bit more work to do as Tapanen is under all
00:41:02pressure here
00:41:03from our winner yesterday James Wharton James Wharton's got past Taito Kato on that last lap in that final
00:41:08sector maybe DRS down towards turn 10 that's been away from the camera shot there now Wharton yesterday's
00:41:14race winner he had good late race pace didn't he was able to ward off the attacks of the drivers
00:41:18behind
00:41:19now he's applying the pressure on the back of Tuka Tapanen as this is the battle for the final points
00:41:25playing positions what happened to Slater same thing exactly the same thing as Ugachuku got off
00:41:29the racing line just a half a car went wide onto the marbles and then that poor exit meant that
00:41:34Badawer
00:41:34can just slip through and again that's time lost for Slater a time lost drops him back with that five
00:41:40second penalties further further down the order now Slater having to come under pressure from Endo
00:41:44De Linghi as well yeah currently he would drop to eighth place so it's sort he's in a bit of
00:41:50a battle
00:41:51here with Ernesto Rivera isn't he so he will drop a back behind him will Freddy Slater down through
00:42:00the last two corners and De Ligny trying to line him up for what will be p6 on the road
00:42:05the Van Ammer
00:42:06Sport racing driver Slater will not have DRS so this should be an easy pass for De Ligny down the
00:42:13star finish straight we go and Freddy Slater just needs to try and make as much time as possible he
00:42:19cannot really afford too much battling but De Ligny is going to be sent around the outside and through
00:42:24goes Enzo De Ligny just about getting it stopped in time this is a weird mental battle for Slater
00:42:29here because ultimately he is fighting for position on circuit but that position means nothing to him
00:42:33because he's basically bracing these drivers here who are just beyond five seconds back from Slater
00:42:38at the moment and while they're fighting that's helping Slater but if Slater fights with De Ligny on
00:42:42circuit for a position that actually doesn't make any difference to him then he's going to fall
00:42:45further and further back as this battle is going to continue to go on as now Taito Kato looking to
00:42:52retake that position of yesterday's sprint winner in James Wharton that he lost a lap or so ago we're
00:42:57now on board with Macek Gwadish the second of the two ARTs in this train defensive from Wharton down
00:43:03towards five another lockup from Gwadish that car very stiff across the front able to pick up an inside
00:43:08wheel and not do too much damage to that front left tire in turn five no overtaking opportunity
00:43:13realistically in six seven and eight we head through turn nine this is the second DRS zone about
00:43:18to open up on this lap leaders matching each other for pace both 133.7s last time gap remains 1
00:43:25.3 here
00:43:26Yamakashi just needs a good sector just to get within a second and then he can put pressure on Niall
00:43:33and
00:43:33there we go he's just taken two tenths out of him top left you'll see it's come from 1.3
00:43:38to 1.1 is
00:43:39Yamakashi just saved a little bit for the end of this race I wonder Piers I wonder indeed it's
00:43:44an interesting to see this gap ebb and flow Ugachuku somewhat bounced back after his early race
00:43:49issues and also look who's bouncing back again Baddoware looking like he's got pressure on the back of
00:43:57it's Del Pino Del Pino yeah it's just we've got to about lap 16 17 didn't it and they they're
00:44:04the
00:44:04strong pace just just just just dulled a little bit and we're now three of press going down towards
00:44:08turn one Taito Kato can he go around the outside two drivers no but he can go around the outside
00:44:12of
00:44:12water that's an excellent move great driving that from Taito Kato goes through into P9 this is the view
00:44:19from his teammate Mace Gwadish whose pace has been looking good throughout the end of this race he's
00:44:25just behind uh Wharton here he had made a great overtake on his teammate here Kato Lee went round
00:44:31the outside at turn five can he do the same I wonder on James Wharton down towards that corner he
00:44:37go he's going to give it a go Mace Gwadish looking to the outside and Noah Stromstead now trying to
00:44:42go
00:44:42down the inside of him on board with Mace Gwadish all over the back of James Wharton Piers
00:44:47watch for the lunge but no Wharton Wise to it defending up the inside of seven not unusual
00:44:52overtaking opportunity but we saw Pedro Claro do an opportunist move there earlier in this race
00:44:56all the ARTs very close together Kato 10 12 for Gwadish 14 for Kanato Lee as wide out the turn
00:45:04nine
00:45:05goes Williams yes USD and that's is Claro isn't it getting involved there outside run down towards
00:45:11turn 10 can he keep it on the grippy part of the road looks like he can hold on to
00:45:15that interesting
00:45:16different line there from Tappanen through 12. and look at the gap between the two leaders Piers
00:45:21Niall and Yamakoshi it's now one second Yamakoshi is closed down meanwhile here's your battle for
00:45:27fourth place and Badouair will use the DRS to go straight past Bruno Delpino that's the effect
00:45:34Piers of the DRS that's what Yamakoshi is trying to chase wants to get within that now here's Taito Kato
00:45:40this your fight for ninth place goes around the outside of Tukatapanen the DRS looking more and more
00:45:45powerful as drivers are able to side by side between the ART and the 21 there of Wharton Gwadish
00:45:53having to take to this gateway taking the correct rejoin route and trying to go around the outside
00:45:59of the three from off the circuit I don't know whether you'd be allowed to do that as we get
00:46:03a black and white
00:46:04limit for uh the car 23 of Wuhan shin look at this though Gwadish all the way around the outside
00:46:11of
00:46:12James Wharton there great driving and now Noah Strongstead fancies a bit of the action as well
00:46:16down the inside of Wharton Wharton holding on around the outside it's not for the points but
00:46:22very entertaining stuff here uh this your fight for 11 so best outside the points if anyone of course were
00:46:30to get further penalties in the points and that 11th will become p10 as they head up through turn
00:46:37nine and down to turn 10 and Niall reacting on this lap and just getting a bit of a buffer
00:46:43over Yamakoshi
00:46:44this is really like a kart race Chris it's a big dive and justy going completely off the circuit Bale's
00:46:49left won't be able to keep that position but it's like a kart race Chris most of these drivers home
00:46:53their skills in karting as as teenagers around the outside goes Strongstead ironically Strongstead
00:46:58one of the only drivers that didn't do a huge amount of karting it's making the most of a move
00:47:01around the outside there but now we've got an inter VAR battle here Chris
00:47:05Enzo De Ligny going past Bruno Delpino in towards the first corner they go and that is Enzo De Ligny
00:47:12into P5 good point score for him and for the Van Amesvoort team they've got three cars in the top
00:47:18six
00:47:18positions meanwhile Matt Chekwadish is now going to get by to Katapanen or is he oh no they've both gone
00:47:25wide
00:47:26well who rejoins ahead is now the question there you've got Noah Strongstead queuing up just behind
00:47:32and he'll be rubbing his hands together he'll fancy a little bit of this yeah it looks like
00:47:36Gwadish has scarpered but I think he's probably well within his right because he was ahead at the apex
00:47:40and they both went off so he'll continue on up the road I'm sure it'll be noted investigated but
00:47:44Gwadish might may well get away with that it looks like the MP car of Tuukka Tapanen's tyres have just
00:47:50fallen away but we cut back to the leader I mean Teofield Nile what a what a drive from pole
00:47:55position
00:47:55Chris it's been an absolutely superb drive from Teofield Nile finished second place in the feature
00:48:03race here last year and the Campos racing driver who's taken all three pole positions so far this
00:48:09season is now going to convert one into his first win in Formula 3 out the final corner he comes
00:48:17and
00:48:17Teofield Nile is your winner on Grand Prix Sunday here in Barcelona Hiyu Yamakoshi finishes in second to
00:48:25get his first podium in Formula 3 and Ugo Ugochiku great points on the board for him in third as
00:48:32the
00:48:32battle continues Piers further back he's the battle for outside the points Tuukka Tapanen's tyres have
00:48:37absolutely fallen off a cliff and he's under pressure he's going to get overtaken even by Kanato Lee
00:48:41into the final corner of the final lap of the race and we've got more backing up so more battling
00:48:46further
00:48:46down the order in fact Giusti looking to make moves over the line wow what a race wow there we
00:48:52go
00:48:52Badouwer finishes in fourth you've got De Ligny in fifth Del Pino in sixth Rivera moves up to seventh
00:48:58with that five second penalty dropping Freddy Slater to eight and then the two ARTs of Carto and Guadis in
00:49:06the top ten
00:49:25he's come close to us on so many occasions second here last year second at Silverstone uh we saw him
00:49:31get a second in Monaco as well
00:49:34and Théophile Niall now now gets a win in the feature race and look what that does to his championship
00:49:41as well puts him straight up to second
00:49:43class the Frenchman plays the cool customer doesn't he he said in the pre-weekend interviews
00:49:49I'm in no rush to get a win you know ill come my pace is there got pole position but
00:49:54then you
00:49:55can see the outpouring of emotion how much it means to these drivers who dedicate their whole lives their
00:50:00being to going out there and winning races taking championships and Théophile Niall looking in a rich
00:50:05run of form at the moment he's had the one lap pace triple pole positions the only driver to take
00:50:10a
00:50:11pole position in a speech race this season wasn't able to convert until now and today he did everything right
00:50:31it was huge disappointment for Hiya Yamakoshi when he lost that win at Monaco through no fault of his own
00:50:36and now that's a way to bounce back isn't it just a week later he comes back and gets what
00:50:42is now his
00:50:43first podium in Formula 3 yeah now jump Hiya Yamakoshi quite high up the order he was uh in 18th
00:50:49position
00:50:49four points on the board ahead of this race and he'll now get what 18 points himself that put him
00:50:54inside the top 10 probably if you know this one is so well deserved so well deserved enjoy the podium
00:51:01thank you again
00:51:03can agree more with that Théophile Niall former Spanish F4 champion he's done a lot of racing
00:51:08racing around this country a lot of racing around this circuit and has been very patient as you said
00:51:14he hasn't chased that win too hard he's just let the pace do the work and let the win come
00:51:19to him almost
00:51:20do you know what's interesting is that mentality says to me i'm in it for the championship i'm not
00:51:25here just to take wins and take pots back to home i'm here to take the big one i'm here
00:51:29to take the
00:51:29championship and as you mentioned chris we saw the graphic on screen that win puts him is it second
00:51:34in the championship provisionally after this race hukuchuku won't be too disappointed with that one
00:51:39but he has just seen his teammate take that victory so he'll be resetting and hoping to reassert dominance
00:51:45when we go racing once again in a couple of weeks time yeah we saw hukuchuku we saw him spin
00:51:49in the
00:51:49sprint race yesterday but that did not affect him in that race at all today he knew the big points
00:51:53are in it today well done hiyu yamakoshi van aversport racing are having such a good season aren't they
00:52:00they've got such a good trio of drivers together but here's your winner tayophil nile has come close
00:52:07on many occasions but now now he will be the person the number one will go on to the top
00:52:13step tayophil
00:52:15nile climbs out of the car he fires himself right up the championship and takes his first win in formula
00:52:21three a hugely deserved victory a very controlled performance from him out front as well very
00:52:27controlled indeed everything went to plan there for tayophil nile got the the race start underway
00:52:32we saw he had to absorb a little bit of pressure a few times as the pace ebbed and flowed
00:52:36between
00:52:36the campos of nile and the van amas four of hiyu yamakoshi but ultimately the man that came out on
00:52:42top was the frenchman and campos celebrating once again here in spain a home victory for the team
00:52:47i'm sure there'll be plenty celebrations tonight and also they've got a a few more days to celebrate
00:52:52between now and the next event than they did from monaco celebrations with the team celebrations with
00:52:58adrian campos that'll mean a lot to the team as well the win on home soil for campos racing we've
00:53:05seen them do it a couple of times before and now another win for them the spanish team winning here
00:53:11looking in very good form campos racing campos we touched on it in practice didn't we chris they're
00:53:17looking exceptional in formula three they're in a great run of form in formula two as well
00:53:22so whatever campos have got going on in the in the factory and in spain is working for them right
00:53:28now
00:53:28and with the driver line up like they've got in in formula three as well as you can see high
00:53:32five
00:53:32between teammates there and it's it's working for them and they best keep doing it because they keep
00:53:37racking up wins like this then the team's championship may well be coming their way once again
00:53:41in 2026. teffield now was a driver who had a lot of confidence already mentioned he's a spanish
00:53:47shuffle champion michael grand prix winner bringing that to win back to michael for the first bringing
00:53:53that the cow win back to france for the first time in a long time and now gets a huge
00:53:57round of
00:53:57applause from the crowd they know they're looking at a very talented driver there's going to be a lot
00:54:02of f1 teams looking at him as well isn't that currently unsigned from formula one team to
00:54:07teffield now for how much longer will that remain teffield now coming over the line punching the air
00:54:12we heard the celebrations and that moment where he lifted aloft the number one board and got the
00:54:17adoration of the crowd from the grandstand across the circuit that will be a moment he'll cherish and
00:54:22remember for a very long time and add it to the the locker of good results and and and points
00:54:27he's
00:54:27racked up over the years it will add to even more confidence and a confident nile is a dangerous
00:54:32nile will we see him continue to fight towards the front of the championship so phil now your winner
00:54:39let's go to him and the rest of the corner yeah you say because i catch it up with uh
00:54:46no enough just
00:54:47like 800 left to lap yeah and with the vsc was better yeah but for me it was good for
00:54:56us you know like we
00:54:57don't have any safety car so we push the corner so if we have safety i think we had a
00:55:01big problem you know
00:55:04all right this was there
00:55:08how about goodness daniel will be happy no maybe maybe not really happy because uh
00:55:16join battle this year is not winning but anyway
00:55:21oh i think you will work with you yeah i think yeah i think so just uh just you guys
00:55:27are really
00:55:28personal in the inside corner you know the sector too i didn't catch up really so yeah
00:55:32i lost the other thing there but t10 you were good then yeah t10 was really good attraction every time
00:55:36even less even even you lost it up yeah
00:55:41yeah basically i didn't catch you in the drs on the back straight but i catch you a lot in
00:55:45t10
00:55:45only successfully and we got the others but like always like seven tenths on the board on the
00:55:50street so that's two things not enough to overtake you
00:55:58well done to teofil nile great to hear from him you go gachuku yamakoshi you always love the
00:56:05the discussion there and where where did you have the pace over me and where did i have the pace
00:56:09over
00:56:09you that's funny isn't it how a bit of adrenaline uh from a race can can wash away any any
00:56:15secrets
00:56:15that normally kept under wraps but interesting hiyamakoshi always once got cheeky smile uh hosting
00:56:22the cool down room that time yes and uh very very happy with his result clearly the var had good
00:56:27traction out of turn 10 is what we were hearing and the crowds great reception for them there was plenty
00:56:33of
00:56:33fans around watching ugo ugachuku on the podium once again driving like a championship leader isn't he
00:56:40hiyamakoshi gets that podium now we've seen him stand on there before
00:56:46had it taken away from him after the race but this one will be for keeps for sure for hiyamakoshi
00:56:51showing he can fight for podiums and for race wins but the race win today goes to teofil nile he
00:56:58is now a
00:56:58winner in fia formula three and does so for kampos racing in their home race
00:57:11so
00:57:16you
