00:00...of Kamara.
00:01Now, Chris, you made a good point.
00:02Тire warmers are non-existent.
00:04We saw that even in hot temperatures,
00:05it's hard to get these hard tires in.
00:07So, ideally, Kamara, if he wants to take the lead,
00:10he needs to come out of the pits about two, three,
00:12maybe four seconds ahead.
00:14That time loss is a time loss to actually get out on pits,
00:17but then there's an additional slight amount of time loss
00:19in terms of getting those hard tires up to temperature.
00:22Yeah, I've got to say, I have no idea how he's taken it this far.
00:2516 laps was our max last season.
00:28And Kamara is now going on to lap 20.
00:31This is an absolutely superb job so far.
00:34Fittipaldi coming in.
00:35The second of the pink Alpine cars is Dunn.
00:39He's now catching Belinsky.
00:40The other Alpine is Maini.
00:42Ahead of that, we've got Bennett and Dirksen.
00:45They still need to make compulsory pit stops.
00:48Dunn has made his,
00:49and so we'll want to get by as quickly as possible,
00:51but they're not exactly going to get out the way for him, Piers, are they?
00:55There's absolutely no need or incentive for these drivers
00:57to get out of the way of Dunn.
00:58They're on the alternative strategy.
01:00If anything, they want to hold up the drivers who are pitted
01:03so that they can give themselves an advantage
01:05and bring them closer to them
01:06for when they make their pit stop
01:08and put on the faster soft tire at the end of the race.
01:11Because don't forget,
01:11those drivers who started on the hards
01:13have still got that fast soft tire to come.
01:15Now, Stentron has just used two jokers,
01:18if you like, on track limits
01:19in the space of about two minutes.
01:22Let's look back at what Colton Herta's up to.
01:24Outside of Turn 12.
01:26Nice little cutback.
01:27Does that put him on the inside of 13?
01:29Haven't seen many moves here.
01:31I think Herta did that on the inside of Solov,
01:34wasn't it, earlier on in the race?
01:34Was it Solov?
01:35Yeah.
01:36He also did an interesting move yesterday into Turn 7,
01:39so Herta feeling confident wheel-to-wheel battling.
01:42Stenshawn still making moves,
01:44despite that front wing damage,
01:45as he makes his way past Mary Boyer,
01:47who is...
01:47Mary Boyer is at all-out scene this weekend.
01:49No pace, it seems, with him.
01:52No, no.
01:52Kramer really struggled.
01:53Right, Alex Dunn is behind Roman Belinsky.
01:56Kamara continuing to go around.
01:58Oh, Belinsky runs wide.
02:00Well, that will help Alex Dunn.
02:01We'll just go straight through.
02:03And now, ahead of him,
02:04he's got Miney and Bennett.
02:06Next, he's got Bennett and Dirksen.
02:09Also, Cush Miney in that pink Alpine livery.
02:12A real example of how one wheel off the racing line
02:16can really cost you dearly
02:18as a gift for Dunn,
02:20as Belinsky picked up a lot of rubber.
02:22And now, looking to get through Gabriele Mini,
02:24as I think Belinsky's still struggling
02:26with that dirt he picked up on his tyres
02:27at the last corner,
02:28showing that one small mistake
02:30can be really costly
02:31as we've got three Alpine cars together.
02:33We'll try and make sure we get the right one.
02:34That is Mini, then Dunn, then...
02:36Sorry, Miney, then Mini, then Dunn, isn't it?
02:38Yeah, I think they've done it on purpose.
02:40Cush Miney into Turn 5.
02:43Alex Dunn just behind him,
02:44our sprint race winner from yesterday,
02:46Cush Miney, very pleased for that.
02:48We've given him a big confidence boost.
02:50That ART car looked very, very quick
02:52in the sprint race yesterday.
02:54Alex Dunn needs to get by as quickly as possible
02:56because Camara still yet to come in
02:58and the gap is hovering at around 31 seconds,
03:02which is your average pit time loss
03:04here at Barcelona.
03:06Down the inside, Alex Dunn will go through,
03:09so he'll be happy to get through there
03:10before the final second.
03:12Does this not show you how important clear air is, though?
03:14Yesterday, no one could live with the pace of Mini
03:17in the ART, yet today he's falling down the order.
03:20Now, I think that Victor and Camara
03:22are using that information
03:24and deciding that while they can still match
03:26the pace of those in the hard tyre
03:28with the softer as Miney comes in
03:30to his compulsory pit stop,
03:32that that potentially means
03:33that they are going to have an advantage
03:35because all the while that gap stays at 31 seconds,
03:37every lap we get closer to the end
03:38is one less lap that Camara has to do
03:41on his hard tyres in battle with Dunn.
03:43It's not confusing at all, isn't it?
03:45Two Alpine juniors and their names are Miney and Mini.
03:48There you go.
03:49When they're right together as well.
03:51And then just throw a big Dunn in the mix there as well.
03:54Exactly.
03:55Right, that's Kush Miney into the pits for ART.
03:57Yesterday's sprint race winner, ART,
03:59did such a good job yesterday.
04:00Miney got away from the line well,
04:02got himself qualifying.
04:03What's Solov got to say on the radio?
04:04Just for the last month or cut us, OK?
04:09Yeah, well, Solov is looking good in second place.
04:13We'll have to make a compulsory pit stop towards the end.
04:16But look at the gap over Alex Dunn still.
04:21They're saying don't let him undercut.
04:22Of course, he'll come out.
04:25The average time loss, 31.
04:26At this stage, he'd come out, what,
04:28around 10 seconds, I'd say, behind Alex Dunn,
04:32and then would have to try and make that gap.
04:33Right, here we go.
04:34Rafa Kamara.
04:35We're looking at Alex Dunn in seventh place.
04:38He's currently the lead of the drivers who have stopped.
04:41Rafa Kamara now coming in on the same strategy.
04:43He's gone 22 laps.
04:47Absolutely superb stint from him.
04:48Where does this now bring him out to?
04:50Yeah, we'll keep an eye.
04:50Let's have a look at the stop.
04:51First of all, the stop needs to be good.
04:52We come back to Dunn as he's still finding his way through traffic.
04:56That is the trident ahead of Alex Dunn,
04:58of John Bennett, who still hasn't stopped either.
05:01Bennett pops in.
05:02That's going to be good for Dunn
05:03because he's got a clear run through 14.
05:04He'll probably have the DRS,
05:06but he will have DRS as well down the start, finish straight.
05:08Where is Kamara on the exit?
05:11There he is.
05:11You can see the yellow Invicta to the left,
05:13and in the pink Alpine, that is Dunn, who has gone by.
05:16However, he has done a lot more laps on those tyres,
05:20as Alex Dunn.
05:21He's just gone by Gabriele Mini in the number nine there
05:26as they head around turn three.
05:27So, Kamara is going to be behind now,
05:30but will have fresher tyres.
05:32I expected them to be a little bit closer together.
05:35I'm not too sure if he was delayed in the pits there,
05:38but Alex Dunn ahead of Rafa Kamara.
05:41So, this is your effective battle for the lead now,
05:43even though they are actually not fighting
05:46for the overall lead at the moment
05:47because we've still got a fair few drivers.
05:49Solov, Van Hoop and Dirksen haven't pitted yet.
05:52Dirksen right ahead.
05:53Dirksen's about to get past, I reckon.
05:54It's Dunn, you know, Dirksen decides he wants to defend.
05:57Whether that's wise or not, we'll tell later
05:59because I don't think they're actually racing for position.
06:01It sounds like Solov's thinking about boxing.
06:03Let's have a look at the Kamara pit stop,
06:05see if it was a good one.
06:06Here we go.
06:07So, car goes up, tyres going on,
06:11and I think, yeah, the front left was delayed there,
06:14so lost in a couple of seconds,
06:16and that can be a big difference in a race like this.
06:19But look at the two pink Alpines.
06:21This is your fight for the effective lead.
06:23Round the outside goes Gabriele Mini.
06:25Down the inside, fighting for the lead of the race here.
06:29And Alex Dunn just about holding on,
06:30but Gabriele Mini is piling the pressure on the road in driver.
06:34Meanwhile, Nikola Solov and Van Hoopen have come in,
06:37so Dunn will go into the lead of the race,
06:39but Solov and Van Hoopen will have those fresh,
06:42quick, soft tyres on the car.
06:44Solov now puts those soft tyres on as well.
06:46We joined that battle, didn't we, halfway through.
06:48Dirksen was getting passed by Dunn.
06:49Mini went one side, Dunn went the other.
06:51Now we've got a fight down towards turn one.
06:53That is your new race leader.
06:55So because we've had our hardest-paced hard tyre drivers pit now,
06:59this is your effective race lead and your overall race lead.
07:02Don't forget Kamara, though, six, well, five and a half seconds back.
07:05His tyres are at least seven or eight laps newer
07:08than the drivers he's chasing down,
07:10so we'll have a bit of a pace advantage.
07:12Solov now with Inthropuva Zak.
07:15So they're sitting down towards the back end of the top ten,
07:18but also will have the faster of the two compounds.
07:21So watch them start to claw their way towards the front.
07:23Watch for Nikola Solov.
07:25Here we go.
07:26This is the battle then.
07:28So Alex Dunn looking to the outside,
07:30trying to sell the dummy,
07:31and this was Gabriele Mini going side by side here.
07:33Great opportunist move from outside,
07:35and then Dunn on the inside.
07:37Dirksen has no ground.
07:39And then one side, one way, one side, the other.
07:43Don't forget these two, similar liveries, different teams.
07:46The green flashed helmet 15 that we're looking at now
07:48is Dunn for Rodin,
07:50and then the MP car for Gabriele Mini,
07:53who's currently now sitting in second place.
07:56So similar liveries, similar, same Alpine junior programme,
08:00but very much racing for position against each other on circuit.
08:04Dunn, this would be a great result provisionally,
08:06putting him up the order in the championship.
08:08Solov would be demoted,
08:09but I think Solov is going to be fighting his way forward.
08:12He's only a second or so behind Stenshawn,
08:14who has had the hard tyres on for what feels like forever.
08:18Watch Dino Viganovic.
08:19He's made a great strategy here.
08:21P12 for him.
08:22He came in earlier,
08:24and now he's charging his way through the field,
08:26trying to get past Rafael Villa-Gomez for third place.
08:3110 laps advantage on those guys.
08:33CP school.
08:35Through turn three, Dino Viganovic,
08:37can he get by Villa-Gomez?
08:40This battle is allowing Rafa Kamara to close in.
08:43Look, he's within a second in towards turn four.
08:46We go now.
08:47Will Viganovic try and go round the outside into turn five?
08:50Not close enough,
08:51but they're going down to turn ten next time.
08:53For now, it looks like Viganovic's early pit stop was working for him
08:57because he was a good few seconds in a few places behind Villa-Gomez
09:01before the first pit stops were effective.
09:03Villa-Gomez was fourth, Viganovic was seventh.
09:05But don't forget, it might look good now,
09:07but we've still got a good, what, 11, 12 laps remaining.
09:10So if you can't keep those tyres in a good window
09:13and maintain that pace till the end of the race,
09:15you might be making moves now and then losing them again at the end.
09:18So it's all plenty to go for.
09:19And then look at that yellow car who's got great pace.
09:22That is our early or mid-race leader, Rafa Kamara.
09:26Look at this.
09:27I mean, in theory, same tyre there,
09:29but you could visually see the grip that Kamara has.
09:32Not only does he have more grip because the tyre isn't as old,
09:34but he doesn't have to drive as carefully
09:37because he's only got 10 or 15 laps to do on those tyres.
09:41Rafa Kamara is going to drive his way into third place.
09:44You feel here out of the final corner.
09:46I don't think Villa Gomez is going to have any defence.
09:48TRS flap opens, and this will be Rafa Kamara going into third place.
09:53However, his eyes are on the two Alpine juniors out front.
09:58Through into third place, he goes.
09:59Keep it cool, is what his engineer said to him.
10:02Now it's head down and get after Gabriel and Alex Dunn.
10:07Alex Dunn is doing good pace here.
10:09Look at the gaff he's put between himself and Mini.
10:11It's almost two seconds now.
10:13Yeah, keep it cool was, I think, good advice
10:15from the Invicta team to Kamara.
10:17We'll come back to that in a second
10:18as we look at a replay for Van Hoopen into turn 12,
10:21which is not normally an overtaking opportunity,
10:23but on this occasion, around the outside,
10:24can he do two?
10:25No way.
10:26No way.
10:27Lawrence Van Hoopen, two around the outside of 12.
10:29It doesn't matter what time.
10:30That's a wonderful move.
10:32Now, Nikola Solov there in the red ball livery.
10:36He's three seconds quicker than Rafael Villa-Gomez.
10:39He's two seconds quicker than this driver here.
10:42Watch for the red ball junior.
10:44He is absolutely flying out there.
10:46He's doing personal best laps.
10:48And the Campos racing driver,
10:50if he keeps that pace up,
10:52could be fighting for podium positions
10:55come the end of the race.
10:57Colton Hurta is next on his list.
10:59We'll keep an eye on that.
11:00Rafa Kamara, meanwhile,
11:02the battle for second is about to develop, isn't it?
11:04The gap's come down by around half a second on this lap,
11:07if not more,
11:08and he's almost within DRS of Gabriele Mini now.
11:11Yeah, I was just about to say
11:13that the radio message to Rafa Kamara a few laps ago
11:15is keep it cool,
11:16which is basically let the race come to you.
11:20An inexperienced mistake would be
11:21to use all of the grip of that newer hard tyre,
11:24go out there,
11:25set purple sectors,
11:26go really, really fast,
11:27and then kill the tyres
11:28by overheating them so early in the heat cycle.
11:31Same with Nikola Solovas.
11:33Now defensive has to go.
11:34Villa-Gomez on.
11:35Buganovich is looking to the outside.
11:36What was going to happen here?
11:38Is it going to...
11:39Buganovich looking around the outside of turn three.
11:41We've seen a few drivers try it,
11:42some successful, some less so.
11:44Dino Buganovich on board.
11:46With him we go now.
11:46Noel-Leon has just gone past Martinius Stenshawn as well.
11:52Both campos is going on that alternative strategy,
11:55and Solov is now within DRS of Colton Hurta.
11:58This is the battle for fourth.
11:59Villa-Gomez up ahead.
12:01Dino Buganovich trying to get by.
12:04Camara has already gapped them by three seconds now
12:07and is within DRS of Gabriele Mini.
12:10Fight for second is incoming.
12:11Here they come up towards turn nine now.
12:13Gabriele Mini there in second.
12:15Rafa Camara will have DRS down to turn 10.
12:18If he doesn't make the move there,
12:19it'll be down to turn one next lap.
12:21Surely look at the pace in that Invicta car.
12:24The Ferrari Junior is flying.
12:26We're looking at a grandstand finish to this race
12:28as I'm keeping half an eye on the timing screens.
12:30Solov still very, very quick.
12:32Solov was on a 31-second lap that last time.
12:36These two are 32s at the moment,
12:38but this is going to be our first opportunity
12:40at a move between Camara and Mini.
12:43Camara needs to get this done quickly and efficiently
12:45if he wants to go after Dunn.
12:47Yep, out of the final corner,
12:49and this could just be a drive-by for Rafa Camara.
12:53DRS open.
12:54Gabriele Mini, will he have anything in defence?
12:57No, and he's not even going to fight it.
12:59Rafa Camara goes through into second.
13:01That's another step complete.
13:03Now it is eyes on Alex Dunn in the lead.
13:06Meanwhile, we look back.
13:07Dino Biganovic still trying to get by Rafael Villagomez.
13:11Soon they could be joined by Nikola Solov
13:13with the pace he's showing.
13:14He's put a second and a half between himself and Hertha.
13:17Next for him is Nico Verone.
13:19Rafael Villagomez defending for all he can
13:23on Dino Biganovic in the fight for fourth place there.
13:26And Solov is within DRS of Verone now.
13:29OK, Solov on board now.
13:31A reminder, he's on that newest part,
13:34so softer compound tyre.
13:35So he's got a lot of grip.
13:36Does he got the inside of turns?
13:37Yes, he does.
13:38Exactly what Hertha did yesterday.
13:40So an opportunist move
13:42and allows him to continue to use the grip of that soft tyre.
13:44A reminder, looking at the timing screen,
13:47Solov's last lap are 30.7 leaders, 31.9,
13:50over a second, a lap faster,
13:52and still with nine laps to go.
13:55Gap is about nine seconds, Chris.
13:57Yeah, Solov is right behind Nico Verone.
14:01Here he is coming down.
14:02You can see the black and orange colours of Verone.
14:07And Nikola Solov is going to go down the inside here.
14:10He'll just be wanting to lose
14:11as little time as possible in these overtakes.
14:14That's P6, two and a half seconds to Dino Beganovic.
14:18Under 10 seconds to the leader now, Solov.
14:22The chase is on to try and get into the podium places.
14:25Meanwhile, the chase is on for the lead as well.
14:27Rafa Kamara has already caught Alex Dunn.
14:31Kamara has DRS.
14:32Alex Dunn is struggling now.
14:34Alex Dunn says,
14:34I can't do more than this,
14:35as we see a battle that's continued,
14:37continues on between Beganovic and Villegomers.
14:39And finally, Beganovic gets ahead,
14:41but can he stay within track limits on the exit?
14:44I think he managed to get that move done.
14:45But this is our battle for the lead.
14:48Dunn saying over the radio,
14:49I can't do much more.
14:50I've pushed as much as I can.
14:52The tyres are falling away.
14:53This is the difference in pace here
14:55because Kamara was able to stay out for so much longer
14:59on that first in with the softer tyre.
15:00I wonder if that's the case of,
15:02shall we just settle for second place here
15:04and just let him go?
15:06Because he's saying he can't do much more.
15:09We'll see what the road and engineers say in return.
15:11But Rafa Kamara,
15:12there may be no defence here
15:15because Kamara,
15:16the pace he's showing,
15:17he's even going quicker
15:18than Nikola Solov
15:19through some of the sectors.
15:20Out of turn nine.
15:21DRS open.
15:22Down to turn 10.
15:23Are we going to see him go through?
15:25He's showing himself
15:26in the mirrors of Alex Dunn
15:27and I think down to turn one
15:29next time we could see a change of lead.
15:31Yeah, Dunn doesn't want to fight this too hard.
15:33As much as Dunn fights for every position,
15:35he will know and be told by the team
15:36that there are fast drivers on soft tyres
15:38like Solov who's in the back of shot there.
15:40And if they fight hard
15:41and lose time here for the lead,
15:43they could bring Solov very much into this.
15:45Yeah, you saw Solov in the background as well.
15:47Make a move into turn 10 on Villa Gomez.
15:49So he's up to P5
15:50and will have DRS on Dino Viganovic.
15:52Down the start-finish straight we go.
15:55Rafa Kamara stayed out long on those soft tyres
15:58and now he's being rewarded for it.
16:00Through he goes
16:01and back into the lead of the race.
16:03The pole sitter,
16:04the number one,
16:05leading the way on Grand Prix Sunday
16:08in the feature race here at Barcelona.
16:10And Alex Dunn could do absolutely nothing in defence,
16:12but will it be over there?
16:14Because Nikola Solov is on a mission.
16:17Five seconds to the podium.
16:19Place is now seven to go.
16:21Qualifying laps for Nikola Solov now
16:22to try and close that gap.
16:24It was Kamara who took the lead
16:25to the applause of the crowd
16:27that is filling the grandstands
16:28and banks of this circuit
16:30to Barcelona-Catalunya circuit.
16:32But this is the driver that we need to watch.
16:35Can he catch Mini?
16:37Can he catch Dunn?
16:39Maybe.
16:40Kamara,
16:40oh, it's going to be tough going
16:42because Kamara's pace has been excellent,
16:43but look at this move.
16:44Regulation.
16:46Such was the overspeed of Kamara.
16:48The DRS closed a couple of times
16:49as he tried to keep Dunn on the outside.
16:52He's over a second quicker
16:53than every single driver ahead,
16:55including that yellow car there.
16:56Rafa Kamara, Nikola Solov.
16:58This is going to be close.
17:00This is what it does to the championship.
17:02Rafa Kamara needs a race win like this,
17:05really,
17:06just to boost himself back up the stand-in.
17:08Seventh coming in to this race.
17:10Third as it stands,
17:12but there still could be some changes.
17:14Nikola Solov,
17:15who's second in the championship
17:16coming into this,
17:18is on a charge.
17:19We'll give you lap times
17:20as they cross the line next time.
17:22Kamara,
17:22look at that.
17:23He's nearly for two seconds
17:25between himself and Alex Dunn.
17:27Mari Boyer
17:28stayed out in hope of a safety car.
17:30He's had to do a wing change,
17:31in fact,
17:32we're hearing,
17:32so a damage it was for Mari Boyer.
17:35A tough weekend goes
17:36from bad to worse,
17:38but Solov,
17:39can he do it, Piz?
17:40Yeah,
17:40that was Boyer pitting late.
17:41He was purely hoping for a safety car.
17:43What a fast,
17:44personal best lap
17:45from Solov,
17:46a 30.4,
17:47plays a 31.4,
17:49from Kamara.
17:51Gap over the line
17:52was,
17:53what was that,
17:54three, four, five,
17:54six seconds
17:55with six laps to go.
17:56It's still doable,
17:58but it's a long shot
17:59as we see Boyer
18:00just getting out of the way
18:00of everyone
18:01as his race day
18:02does not go to plan.
18:04Second looks on the cards
18:06for Solov,
18:06but for the lead,
18:08it could be a possibility
18:09if he keeps up this pace.
18:12Right,
18:13we're watching
18:14Colton Herter here
18:15being passed around
18:16the outside
18:17by Laurence Van Hoopen,
18:18who's putting in
18:19some really good moves today.
18:21He's deciding to go
18:22around the outside
18:22more than the inside.
18:24Laurence Van Hoopen,
18:25what a drive.
18:25Yeah,
18:25and that's the thing,
18:26when you've got more tyre grip,
18:27you can afford to go
18:28the longer way around the corner
18:29and look how much rubber
18:30there is off the racing line.
18:31You can see the pickup
18:32flying off the inside right tyre.
18:34Drivers now,
18:35if they go off the racing line,
18:36are going to really struggle.
18:43Awesome,
18:44transformation of what we were thinking.
18:46Solov versus Kamara.
18:48They might be split
18:49by a few seconds.
18:50Look at the gap difference there.
18:511.1,
18:52two seconds,
18:531.6 as well.
18:55This is the race now.
18:57Solov needs to get by
18:58Mini and done
18:59as quickly as possible
19:00and get after
19:01Rafa Kamara.
19:02Two drivers who fought
19:04for the Formula 3 title
19:05last year,
19:06now fighting for race wins
19:08in Formula 2.
19:08It's great to see
19:10this different ebb and flow,
19:11different strategies.
19:12Formula 2 feature race
19:13brings so much
19:14with the terms of the strategy.
19:16We've had wheel-to-wheel
19:16racing for position.
19:17We've had wheel-to-wheel
19:18battling for different strategies.
19:20Now we've got
19:20the end of the race converging.
19:22We've got the drivers
19:23who pitted early for the hards,
19:25the drivers that pitted
19:26later for the hards,
19:27and we've also got Solov
19:28who pitted for the soft tyre
19:29as well as now.
19:30Around the outside,
19:32looks Noel Leon
19:33fighting with Nico Verone
19:34who's in a good run of form
19:35at the moment
19:36and look who's trying
19:36to get involved there.
19:37The tried and the 24
19:38of Laurence Van Hoopen.
19:39Can he go around the outside
19:40once again?
19:41He's looking.
19:41He's looking, Chris.
19:42Laurence Van Hoopen
19:43trying to get himself
19:44up the order.
19:46We've got Noel Leon
19:47in the white campus
19:47there trying to get by Verone
19:50and he's going to send it
19:51down the inside
19:52at turn five.
19:53Lovely stuff
19:54from Noel Leon.
19:55That's P7.
19:56That's what's known
19:57in the business
19:57as a block pass.
19:58Get up the inside,
19:59show the driver
20:00on your outside,
20:01the side of your car
20:02so they have nowhere to go
20:03and unfortunately for Verone,
20:05two corners,
20:06two places lost
20:07and you can see the wheels
20:07spin.
20:07His tyres are just falling
20:08away at this late stage
20:10and Verone's going to do well
20:11and force you to hang on
20:12to a points-paying position
20:13as Hertha and the rest
20:15of the cavalry
20:15are coming to claim
20:16those final points positions.
20:18Points down to 10th remember,
20:19same as Formula 1.
20:20Now Rafa Kamara is in clear air
20:22appears.
20:23He's responding to Nikola Solov.
20:25He's matching him
20:26on this lap
20:27through the sectors
20:27so he, of course,
20:30stayed out a long time
20:31on those soft tyres.
20:33Went 22 laps
20:34in comparison
20:34to Arvid Lindblad
20:36doing 12 last year
20:38and now he is starting
20:40to respond
20:41in terms of lap times.
20:42However,
20:43this is fights
20:43for the podium positions
20:45and Solov is right
20:47behind Gabriele Mini now.
20:48Here we go.
20:49Four and a bit laps
20:50or four and three-quarter laps
20:51remaining on this one.
20:53Solov almost certainly
20:54going to make his way
20:55past Gabriele Mini.
20:57Again,
20:57championship rivals.
20:58They are one and two
20:59in the championship
20:59at the moment
21:00but it seems like
21:01a foregone conclusion.
21:02Resistance may well
21:03be futile for Mini
21:04but he'll put up
21:05a good fight
21:06because he knows
21:07that if he can hold
21:08Solov up
21:08that will mean
21:09that Solov can't go past
21:11and potentially
21:11won't be able
21:12to go and get done
21:12and certainly won't be able
21:13to go and get Mini
21:14so this is going to be
21:15a defensive drive
21:17from Gabriele Mini
21:18despite the fact
21:19that he may well
21:19get past eventually.
21:20It works into
21:21his championship favour
21:22if he can hold Solov up.
21:25Nikola Solov
21:26downhill.
21:27DRS Soam
21:27coming up next
21:28through this right-hander
21:30uphill
21:31at turn nine.
21:33Gabriele Mini
21:34will he be able
21:34to do anything
21:35to hold off Nikola Solov?
21:36I don't think so.
21:37Nikola Solov
21:38has such good pace
21:39and likes the move
21:40here down at ten.
21:41Thinks about going
21:42down the inside.
21:43Gabriele Mini
21:44just coming across
21:45to cover
21:45but on the exit
21:46Nikola Solov
21:47is just going to
21:48wave at him
21:48as he drives by
21:49and into third.
21:50That was an example
21:51of how much more traction
21:52and more grip you get
21:53especially under
21:55traction conditions
21:56at slower corners
21:57from those softer
21:57newer tyres.
21:59The move wasn't
22:00actually done
22:01on the entry.
22:01That was more
22:02just to put
22:03Gabriele Mini
22:04off
22:05and put him
22:05off the normal
22:06racing line
22:06and then
22:06Solov turned it
22:08tighter
22:08got on the gas
22:09and blasted past
22:10and now he sets off
22:11after the road
22:12and driver of Dunn.
22:13We've still got
22:13four more laps
22:14to go now.
22:15Dunn
22:161.2 ahead
22:16by the end
22:17of this lap
22:17Solov will be
22:18within DRS
22:19so again
22:19potentially
22:20foregone conclusion
22:21as to whether
22:22he can get past
22:23but if anyone
22:24can hold him back
22:24it's done.
22:31Yeah well he's
22:32saying that
22:33because the gap
22:34between the two
22:35of them
22:35has now stabilised
22:36at just over
22:37six seconds
22:38over the last
22:39two laps
22:40so his race
22:41is now
22:42to get done
22:42in second place.
22:44The pendulum
22:44of pace
22:45was all the way
22:46up on Solov's side
22:47his tyres
22:47are still good
22:48but they're swinging
22:49away from
22:49the optimum pace
22:51whereas Kamara
22:52now is swinging
22:53back as his tyres
22:53are coming
22:54into a good window
22:55those hard tyres
22:55we heard earlier
22:56in the race
22:56and there's the
22:57live driver
22:58standings at the
22:59bottom
22:59this would be
23:00good enough
23:00for Solov
23:01to take the
23:01lead of the
23:01championship.
23:02It would be
23:02and he and
23:03Mini have been
23:04rivals throughout
23:05the championship
23:06so far
23:07in a very close
23:08fight
23:08so to put a
23:09car between
23:09himself
23:11and Gabrieli
23:12Mini would give
23:13him not just
23:14the championship
23:14lead
23:15but a few
23:16points advantage
23:17with it as well
23:18so this would be
23:18a really crucial
23:19move for Nikola
23:21Solov
23:21you don't have to
23:22to win them all
23:23podium places
23:24will go a long
23:25way
23:25and Nikola Solov
23:26now just lining
23:27this one up
23:28ready for that
23:29start finish line
23:30where the DRS zone
23:31is the second
23:32on the circuit
23:33out the final
23:34corner
23:34we're looking back
23:35from Rodin's
23:36Alex Dunn here
23:37he said earlier
23:38he couldn't do
23:39any more than this
23:40and I don't think
23:41he's going to have
23:42enough here
23:42to hold off
23:43Nikola Solov
23:44who's closing in
23:45closing in
23:46Alex Dunn
23:46is going to give it
23:47a go though
23:47he's going to go
23:48defensive
23:48Solov's going to
23:49take it to the
23:50outside
23:50side by side
23:51they go
23:52and Alex Dunn
23:53wants to fight
23:53here
23:54he wants to
23:55hold on to second
23:55Alex Dunn
23:56might think
23:56well the soft
23:57tyres
23:57they might be
23:57more grippy
23:58but they'll be
23:58falling away
23:59soon
23:59but can we go
23:59all the way
24:00around the
24:01outside of
24:01turn three
24:02there's been
24:02the undoing
24:03of Campos
24:03drivers twice
24:04this weekend
24:05Solov still
24:05side by side
24:06we head
24:06towards four
24:07in towards four
24:08then on board
24:09with Nikola Solov
24:10going around
24:11the outside
24:12has that more
24:13grip
24:13with those
24:14soft tyres
24:15and that takes
24:15him into
24:16second place
24:17great racing
24:18between the pair
24:19good clean
24:20driving throughout
24:21all four corners
24:22and it's Nikola Solov
24:23who comes out ahead
24:24in second place
24:25and now has a car
24:26between himself
24:27and Gabriele Mini
24:28that will give him
24:29the championship lead
24:30and an advantage
24:31with it
24:32yeah that's a good
24:33driving from Solov
24:34to get that done
24:34but fair play to
24:35Alex Dunn as well
24:36because ultimately
24:38Solov is second
24:39a lap faster
24:40at this stage
24:40with more tyre grip
24:41but still managed
24:42to put up a fight
24:43Dunn will now
24:44be just trying to
24:45cling on to the back
24:46of Solov
24:47to try and fend
24:48off Mini
24:48but really interesting
24:50to me
24:50let's have a watch
24:50on board
24:51so we're on the
24:51outside of three
24:52more grip
24:53he has with the tyres
24:54but Dunn squeezes
24:55but then all that
24:56pick up
24:56you can see
24:57the bits on the
24:58tyres of Nikola Solov
25:01means that he
25:01struggles with grip
25:02and then round the
25:02outside of four
25:04turns to the inside
25:04of five
25:05it was inevitable
25:06eventually I think
25:07but Dunn put up
25:08a good fight
25:08but so interesting
25:09to me
25:10that all these
25:11different strategies
25:11are converging
25:12at the end of the race
25:13and Nico Verone
25:14is that Nico Verone
25:15that's Villa Gomez
25:15Villa Gomez
25:16in the second
25:17in the leading
25:18VAR
25:18just getting wide
25:20at seven
25:20and then falling
25:21back down the order
25:22but it's so interesting
25:23to me
25:23that three different
25:24strategies
25:25all converging
25:25on the podium
25:26we've got Camaro
25:27took a soft tyre
25:27long
25:28and we've got
25:28more battling
25:29further down
25:29yeah
25:30this is one of
25:31the trident cars
25:32of Van Hoopen
25:33going into the top
25:34five
25:34he's having a really
25:35great race today
25:36Van Hoopen
25:36Cushmaine
25:37trying to go by
25:39the Van Ammer
25:39Sport there
25:40of Raphael Villa Gomez
25:41who seems to be
25:42really falling away
25:43with those tyres
25:44and Cushmaine
25:45looking to go by
25:47that's ninth place
25:48for him
25:49if he could hold on
25:50but Villa Gomez
25:51has stayed ahead
25:52on the exit
25:53of the corner
25:53and will now
25:54get out the way
25:55to allow him
25:56to go through
25:56just wants to
25:57avoid a penalty
25:58one and a half
25:59laps to go
26:00is there still a fight
26:01I wonder
26:01here it is
26:02between Dunn
26:03and Mini
26:04they're still
26:05pretty close together
26:06aren't they
26:06yeah
26:07the gap is
26:07pretty much
26:08on the cusp
26:08of DRS
26:09we'll have a couple
26:11more DRS zones
26:12available for
26:13Mini to have a go
26:14at Dunn
26:15Mini if he could
26:15get that move
26:16on Dunn
26:18would be good
26:19for the championship
26:20a gain of a few
26:21extra points
26:22in reducing
26:23the deficit
26:24to Solovar
26:25as we leave
26:25Barcelona
26:26and head towards
26:27Spielberg
26:27yes
26:28whether he can
26:29just grab that DRS
26:30down the start
26:30finish straight
26:31like you said
26:32they're coming
26:32through this section
26:33now so
26:34Mini will just
26:35want to get
26:36a couple of
26:36tenths out of Dunn
26:37then he can have
26:38the DRS
26:38and I think
26:39he's done it
26:39I think he might
26:40be within DRS
26:42we're on board
26:42with second place
26:43here
26:43Nikola Solov
26:44let's see if that DRS
26:45opens
26:45yes it does
26:46on to the final lap
26:48and Gabriele Mini
26:49has done a great
26:50last sector
26:51he's given himself
26:51a chance
26:52of getting third
26:53he has given
26:53himself a chance
26:54it's still a long
26:55shot because
26:55ultimately
26:56we won't get a chance
26:57to fight down
26:57towards turn one
26:58next time by
26:59but we've seen
27:00moves at turn 10
27:01we've seen moves
27:02at turn 12
27:02if Dunn's tyres
27:04are falling away
27:05then Mini might
27:06have an opportunity
27:06we'll keep an eye
27:07on these two
27:08who are doing
27:08battle
27:09similar liveries
27:09but again
27:10Rodin plays MP
27:11Dunn and Mini
27:13Gabriele Mini
27:14will be putting
27:16the pressure here
27:16on Alex Dunn
27:17who will be able
27:18to see that
27:19in his mirrors
27:19he'll be able
27:20to see
27:20Gabriele Mini
27:21is closing in
27:23but Alex Dunn
27:24is a multiple
27:26podium finisher
27:27Gabriele Mini
27:28will think championship
27:29as well
27:29he won't do
27:30anything silly
27:30in terms of moves
27:31he'll go for it
27:32if it's there
27:33down towards turn 7
27:35we go for the final
27:36time
27:36they'll have one more
27:37DRS zone
27:38down to turn 10
27:39but what a drive
27:41out front
27:42it has been
27:43for Rafa Kamara
27:44played the long game
27:45with those soft tyres
27:47took it a long way
27:48and then was rewarded
27:49when he switched over
27:51to the hard tyres
27:52you can hear the crowd
27:53cheering
27:54Rafa Kamara
27:55Grand Prix Sunday
27:56at Barcelona
27:57belongs to him
27:58he won the F3
28:00feature race
28:00from pole position
28:01here last year
28:03and now he will win
28:04the Formula 2
28:05feature race
28:06here at Barcelona
28:07as he comes across
28:08the line
28:09to take his first win
28:10in Formula 2
28:11a superb drive
28:13from Invicta Racing's
28:14Rafa Kamara
28:15Campos racing
28:16on that alternative
28:17strategy
28:18finishing second place
28:19with Nikola Solov
28:20and Alex Dunn
28:21will hold on
28:22to take third
28:23ahead of Gabriele Mini
28:25celebrations
28:26they're back
28:26on the top step
28:27your reigning champions
28:29Invicta Racing
28:30yeah the question
28:30at the start of the race
28:31was Kamara
28:32he's got one lap pace
28:33can he do it
28:34over a race distance
28:35absolutely he can
28:37winning by nearly
28:3710 seconds
28:39in the end
28:39he was the only driver
28:40on that strategy
28:42Invicta
28:42giving Kamara
28:43the car to
28:44to romp away
28:45at the front of the field
28:45and he kept
28:46those soft tyres alive
28:47go on
28:51Rafa
28:52wow
28:53wow
28:54wow
28:54oh Brazil
28:56Ambrisca Catalonia
28:58ha ha
28:59oh good job
29:01good job
29:02nice one
29:04nice one to finish the weekend
29:07it would have been really tough for him
29:09wouldn't it
29:09at Monaco
29:10when he was
29:11fighting for the lead
29:12win wide
29:12at turn one
29:14had to walk back to the pit lane
29:15but that's how you bounce back
29:18what a nice job you did
29:20mate
29:21what a nice job
29:22you did an amazing race again
29:23very happy
29:24good effort mate
29:25good effort
29:26see you in the championship
29:27vamos
29:27thank you guys
29:29this is a good weekend
29:30and we managed to execute it
29:32well
29:33double podium for the first time
29:34for me as well
29:35so
29:35thank you boys
29:36I really appreciate the work
29:38right now
29:39wow
29:40huge congratulations
29:41what a point soul
29:42for Nikola Solov
29:43this weekend
29:44and gives Campos Racing
29:45a home podium
29:47as well
29:47yeah
29:48great result for Campos
29:49they're looking pretty strong
29:50Solov
29:51again just banging in the results
29:52that's what he's been doing so well
29:53this season
29:54consistently
29:55consistently strong
29:56unfortunately
29:56had that little dip
29:57didn't he
29:57Montreal didn't have the best weekend
29:59then the win last time out
30:01and then again
30:02another podium in the feature race
30:03I think he'll look back
30:04at this weekend
30:05as
30:06job nearly done
30:07you know
30:079 out of 10
30:089 out of 10
30:09because to get second place
30:10is a good result
30:12they made the alternative strategy work
30:13but Kamara was the one to beat
30:15mate I have no words
30:16that was an
30:17absolutely
30:18spectacular
30:19pace
30:19and tire management
30:21enjoy everyone
30:22long time coming
30:24good job
30:25thank you guys
30:26thank you so much
30:28it was a good one
30:30I've said it a couple times
30:31I'll say it again
30:32Arvid Lindblad
30:3312 laps
30:34he came in after
30:35last year
30:36the most we saw anyone go
30:37last year on the soft tyre
30:38was 16 laps
30:40he went 22 laps
30:42Piers
30:42that is absolutely
30:43outstanding
30:44at a track where tyre degradation
30:46is one of the biggest
30:48talking points
30:48Rafa Kamara
30:50there was absolutely
30:51none of that
30:51for him
30:52today
30:53yeah
30:53I mean
30:53Rafa Kamara
30:54he's looking to
30:56make his claim
30:57in Formula 1
30:57he's already on the Ferrari
30:58Junior Driver Development Program
31:00he's got links to the
31:01to the top
31:02and there's
31:03there's things that the team
31:04teams will be looking for
31:05pace
31:06absolutely
31:06tick tick tick
31:07polls in Formula 3
31:08polls in Formula 2
31:09now
31:09tyre management
31:10now
31:11big tick
31:12for Kamara
31:13so he's putting himself
31:14very much in the shop window
31:15as well as putting himself
31:16in the championship
31:17hunt as well
31:19normally softly spoken
31:20very reserved character
31:21very under control
31:22but you heard
31:23how much it meant to him
31:24on the radio
31:25screaming over the radio
31:26that's how much it means
31:27and also taking his first
31:29FAF 2 win
31:30he'll remember this
31:31forever
31:31it might be a pivotal moment
31:32in his career
31:33I've seen Rafa Kamara
31:35win a lot of races
31:36in Formula Regional
31:37in Formula 3
31:38this is certainly
31:40the most impressive win
31:41I think I've ever seen
31:42him take
31:43and look
31:43Ferrari
31:44very very impressed
31:46with what they saw
31:46a masterclass
31:47in how to manage tyres
31:50and then also
31:51keep his head as well
31:52just comes through
31:53and he knew the race
31:55was going to come to him
31:57once he'd done the work
31:58in that first
31:59he just had to
32:01stay patient
32:02and the race
32:03was going to come to him
32:03and in the end
32:0410 seconds clear
32:06of anyone
32:07that is absolutely super
32:09I think
32:10class of his own
32:11in this race
32:11it's fair to say
32:12because he was literally
32:13in a class of his own
32:14not only on pace
32:15and tyres
32:16he was the only driver
32:17on the soft tyre
32:18that went as far
32:19as everyone else
32:20was done with it
32:23in 12 seconds ahead
32:25of Dunn
32:25who was on the same strategy
32:27and we've talked a lot
32:28about Victor Racing
32:29and how good they've been
32:30in the pit lane this season
32:31I think that another
32:32example of that
32:33they just said
32:33just keep going
32:34if you have the pace
32:35and that's what he did
32:36it wasn't all just about him
32:38though
32:38Nikola Solov
32:39driving like a championship
32:41leader isn't he
32:42right now
32:43absolutely
32:43just being able to
32:45make an alternative strategy
32:46work
32:46make the moves as well
32:47because it's a higher
32:48risk strategy
32:49if you have to rely
32:50on making those moves
32:51towards the end
32:52of a race
32:53because you know
32:54there's all sorts
32:54that could go wrong
32:55alongside with Dunn
32:56that could have been
32:56an undoing
32:57we saw Ugachiku
32:58in a Formula 3
32:59his teammate spin
32:59trying to do exactly
33:00that move yesterday
33:01we saw Noel lay on
33:02his teammate spin
33:03doing exactly that line
33:05in practice
33:06and now
33:06the man of the day
33:07Rafa Kamara
33:09raises the number
33:09one board a lot
33:10to get the photos
33:11he'll be the one
33:12thinking
33:13maybe
33:14I mean
33:14in with a good shout
33:15here
33:15he was on the back foot
33:17wasn't he Chris
33:17after a couple
33:18of difficult weekends
33:19but very much
33:19back in the fight
33:20don't write off
33:21Rafa Kamara
33:22and well done
33:23Alex Dunn
33:23as well
33:24really good stuff
33:25to hold off
33:25Capri Eli Mini
33:26there at the end
33:27these were the views
33:28in Formula 3
33:29in the feature race
33:30last season
33:30he came across the line
33:31to take the win
33:32from pole position
33:33and he has done so
33:35again
33:35in Formula 2
33:37and in Victor Racing
33:38what
33:39what a race
33:40from him
33:41Rafa Kamara
33:43he's something special
33:44isn't he
33:45he's won
33:45back-to-back titles
33:46in Formula Regional
33:47and Formula 3
33:48now he's trying
33:49to do the same
33:50in Formula 2
33:50Oscar Piastri
33:51the only one
33:52to do that
33:53can Rafa Kamara
33:55do the same
33:56well
33:57let's hear
33:57from the man himself
33:59then
33:59he is down
34:00in pit lane
34:01with Naomi Schiff
34:07Rafa Kamara
34:08huge congratulations
34:09on your first feature
34:10race win in Formula 2
34:11how do you feel
34:12right now
34:13yeah I mean
34:13it was a very good race
34:14since they started
34:15we were managing
34:15very well the tyres
34:16and I think
34:17that allowed us
34:17to keep it quite long
34:18with the soft
34:20and then yeah
34:21after when we changed
34:22for the hat
34:22we were a bit far back
34:24but we had the
34:25advantage of the tyres
34:26and that was
34:26just
34:28I think a very good strategy
34:29we were able to be
34:30so much quicker
34:31than the others
34:31and finally getting
34:32the leads at the end
34:33as you say
34:34great strategy
34:35but at the same time
34:36a master class
34:37in tyre management
34:37I mean you managed
34:38to extend that first stint
34:39and just nurse your tyres
34:40through it
34:41and you controlled
34:41the race from there
34:42yeah it's true
34:43it was feeling very good
34:45today
34:46everything under control
34:47and we were able
34:49to put all together
34:50today
34:50so super happy
34:51a very big thanks
34:53to the team
34:53they did a very good job
34:54big stop
34:55everything was looking
34:56very good today
34:58and yeah
34:59now we keep our head down
35:00and focus for the future
35:01it also was a great
35:03hold of points
35:03for the championship
35:04and I would guess
35:04you could call it
35:05redemption for Monaco
35:06as well right
35:07yeah Monaco
35:08didn't went our way
35:10in the end
35:10but it was a lot of
35:12positives from the weekend
35:13we knew we were
35:14going to be strong
35:15and we came here
35:17we had down
35:18same approach as Monaco
35:20and we showed
35:20that we can be up there
35:22we are strong
35:23and the same thing
35:24for the future
35:25just keep working
35:26ourselves
35:26and it will be
35:27will be a good season
35:29fantastic
35:29well huge congratulations
35:30go and enjoy
35:31your celebrations
35:32thank you
35:32thank you
35:33he did that a lot
35:34in F3 last year
35:35didn't he
35:35he'd have a bad race
35:36he had one here
35:37in the sprint race
35:38and then he would
35:39just come back
35:39and take a win
35:40he seems so unfazed
35:41doesn't he
35:41one week ago
35:43battling with his
35:43championship rival
35:44in Formula 3
35:45trying to take a win
35:46it would have been
35:47his first win
35:48in FIA Formula 2
35:49big mistake
35:50devastation
35:51and then one week later
35:53do you know what
35:54I'm just going to go
35:5410 laps longer
35:55than everyone else
35:55on a pair of soft tyres
35:56on a set of soft tyres
35:58and take the win
35:58by 10 seconds
35:59yeah very very
36:00impressive indeed
36:01but great job
36:01for him Victor
36:02once again
36:02let's hear what
36:03the drivers have to say
36:03in the cool down room
36:18so he didn't pass you
36:19in the pits
36:19he just passed me
36:20in the track
36:20yeah he passed me
36:22during the hard step
36:24because he did like
36:2520 laps on the soft
36:32on the main straight
36:34a long time
36:35it was nothing
36:38quicker than me
36:39and I saw
36:3920 laps
36:40when I was hard
36:4120 times
37:0231 notes
37:04so you didn't
37:04I was laughing
37:0832 minutes
37:11not much to say
37:13but I think
37:13it was just
37:14one of those races
37:15wasn't it
37:15three drivers
37:16there I think
37:16is
37:17showing all the signs
37:19of possibility
37:20to go to Formula 1
37:21I mean these are
37:22your F1
37:22world championship
37:23leaders
37:24and world champions
37:25of the future
37:26and all three
37:27of those drivers
37:28direct links
37:29to Formula 1
37:29teams
37:30Rafa Kamara
37:31Ferrari
37:31Junior driver
37:32Nikola Solo
37:33Red Bull
37:34Junior driver
37:34Alex Dan
37:35Alpine
37:35Junior driver
37:36so putting
37:37themselves
37:37on the podium
37:38in front of
37:39the world
37:40and in front of
37:41all the Formula 1
37:42teams
37:42not a bad way
37:43to go about
37:44trying to get
37:44yourself a drive
37:45at the top level
37:46of the sport
37:46we're in for a good
37:47championship fight
37:48that's for sure
37:49it's round 5
37:50and 14
37:50let's celebrate
37:52the feature ace
37:53podium then
37:54coming out first
37:55he's starting to get
37:56some real momentum
37:57now which is dangerous
37:59for the rest of the field
38:00Alex Dunn
38:01another solid performance
38:03for him
38:04his day on the top
38:05step of the podium
38:06this season
38:07will come
38:07there's no doubt
38:08about that
38:09he's doing
38:09a really good job
38:10Nikola Solo
38:12for Campos Racing
38:13the Bulgarian driver
38:15is making a lot
38:17of noise
38:17back home
38:18with the performances
38:19he is putting in
38:20and Red Bull
38:21no doubt
38:21will be hugely
38:22impressed with
38:23what they're seeing
38:23Rafa Kamara
38:25out onto the top
38:27step
38:27he is now
38:27a winner
