00:00I think these are two of the most fascinating markets that are still on the board here, Tom.
00:04The American League Cy Young, you and I have talked about this.
00:08We felt it was wide open last month.
00:12Schlittler's had a couple of rough outings.
00:15Dylan Cease, what a battle he just had.
00:18Jacob deGrom, where are we looking here now for value in the Cy Young market?
00:23You know, that's a really good question.
00:26At this point, it's tough to say, given where the top of the board lies.
00:31But Cease missing a little bit of time.
00:32He came back, like you said, he had a great outing versus the Phillies this past week.
00:36Schlittler hasn't been amazing.
00:37It really comes down to what happens this weekend with Terrick Scubill coming back for the Tigers.
00:42Because he pitched the other day.
00:44He had a rehab start.
00:45He looked good.
00:45We know the upside that Scubill can bring.
00:48If he's healthy and can string together old Scubill-type starts,
00:52he's going to be vaulted right back to the top of this leaderboard before we know it,
00:55especially with these other players faltering.
00:57I'm always concerned about DeGrom not being that he's not going to be good,
01:01just the volume that he'll have, where they may ease back on his innings.
01:05And we may just see other pitchers, like Dylan Cease,
01:07push past him in terms of total strikeouts, total innings pitch.
01:10And that will always be an argument for some people.
01:13So the top of the board is very interesting.
01:14I still have belief in Brian Wu, just because I think the talent is there for him.
01:18I know it wasn't the best start for him yesterday.
01:19But I think he's an option you all should be considering as a much longer shot.
01:24Tom, the Cy Young Award market to me, and man, I hate to say this and throw this on there,
01:29but I mean, this is about health for me because I can't pick a winner
01:33between Christopher Sanchez and Jacob Mizorowski.
01:35So it's like whoever is healthy the entire season and makes every start,
01:38I think, wins the NL Cy Young.
01:41I liked Otani, you know, about a month ago,
01:44but it just does seem to me that they are still going to handle him a little bit more carefully.
01:48His numbers may be better than these guys just statistically at the end of the year,
01:51but the innings for Sanchez and Mizorowski piling up.
01:54I can't pick a winner here.
01:56No, I would say the same thing.
01:57And, you know, Otani did leave last night's game with knee inflammation.
02:00They said it's not serious, but I was always under the assumption
02:03that they would back off of Otani in terms of volume.
02:06And they said, oh, he's going to get a day off.
02:07He's not going to hit when he's pitching.
02:08Then he's going to have the next day off, et cetera, et cetera.
02:10So I was never on board with Otani winning the Cy Young.
02:13The MVP is obviously a different score.
02:14But between Miz and Sanchez, it's a coin flip at this point.
02:17And I have to say that it's one of those things you have to be ready for the schedule
02:21where if one has a bad outing and the next is going to pitch the next day,
02:26you want to be looking to buy in and out as the pitcher has a bad outing
02:29before that other pitcher has a good outing
02:31because the market's going to change so fluidly
02:33as they have good outings and bad outings on the day in and day out or week to week basis.
