00:00Trinidad and Tobago will be sending seven athletes to compete at the Pan American Championships
00:05in Brazil.
00:06One of the coaches of the team, Dale Ali, outlined the process for selection.
00:11We had all the athletes try out, it was a real tough weekend, and at national championships
00:15everybody would have had to attain the score to qualify to get to Pan Ams.
00:19He says it's a historic achievement.
00:21In the history of gymnastics, this is the first time we've had a full five athletes
00:26forming a full team for senior athletes.
00:30It's a feat that has never been done before in Trinidad.
00:34The athletes are ready for the tournament.
00:36Well, for this competition, I really just want to do my best.
00:40I'm not really planning to really beat anybody because I know this is really just my second
00:45experience in Pan Ams, so I'm just going for more experience and learning new things and
00:51learning how to better my training.
00:52I don't have very high expectations, I just hope to gain new experience to help me with
01:00my road to Olympics.
01:02The younger athletes are also hopeful that they will do well.
01:05Training has been going good.
01:07My expectations for the competition is to at least beat 30 people, at least, more like
01:1550 aiming for, and just do my best all around and try to win some medals.
01:21My hopes is just to go for experience and to hopefully medal on any apparatus.
01:28Daily for the competition on Friday.
01:31Sergio Dupo, TV6 Sport.
