The United States launched a second round of airstrikes on Iran into Thursday morning after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that Tehran would “pay the price” for stalled negotiations. Iran responded with strikes targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.

00:03For the second night in a row the United States has targeted Iran with airstrikes.
00:08Iran meanwhile has again targeted Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan with retaliatory drone and missile fire.
00:16All this is coming as a deal to try to reach an end to the Iran war seems further away
00:21than ever.
00:22There is still continued negotiation.
00:24We've heard that Qatari negotiators were in Tehran and left early this morning.
00:30Pakistan which has been a key mediator is also trying behind the scenes to get something together.
00:35But these attacks just show how dangerous the situation remains in the Middle East
00:39and how things have escalated since this past weekend when we saw Israel and Iran launch attacks against each other.
00:46Now we have seen this spread into the waters of the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the nearby
00:53Gulf of Oman.
00:54India says that three Indian mariners who are aboard a tanker that the US attacked for allegedly running the Iran
01:01blockade are dead.
01:03That just shows the danger to seafarers both from Iran and the United States at this point.
01:08Meanwhile we're also waiting to see how Iran responds to these latest attacks.
01:13It maintains that it will continue to make the region a hell for the United States.
01:19And Gulf Arab states surrounding Iran remain concerned that they could remain targets.
01:23And it remains unclear whether or not Israel could get back into the meds.
01:27We've heard Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu keep up his threats against Iran.
01:31And the Israelis are continuing their attacks against Hezbollah and Lebanon.
01:36That has been a major sticking point for Iran in these negotiations.
01:39So it just shows how dangerous the situation remains across the wider Middle East.
