US President Donald Trump on March 23 said the United States would temporarily postpone planned strikes for five days against Iranian energy and electricity targets as talks with Tehran continue, expressing optimism that a broader agreement could be reached.

As for the US ally in the war against Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Trump saw a chance of reaching a deal with Iran, but he insisted that his government would ensure its military continue its operations in Iran and Lebanon.

00:01Good morning, Mr. President.
00:17We've had very strong talks, Mr. Witkoff and Mr. Kushner had them.
00:23They went, I would say, perfectly.
00:26I would say that if they carry through with that, it'll end that problem, that conflict.
00:34And I think it'll end it very, very substantially.
00:37We have very much in mind our partners in the Middle East.
00:40We've had great relationships with a lot of them, as you know.
00:43A lot of them were surprisingly hit.
00:46And I was surprised to see it, and so was everyone else.
00:49What are you speaking with, Mr. President?
00:51What are you speaking with in Iran?
00:52A top person, don't forget.
00:55We've wiped out the leadership phase one, phase two, and largely phase three.
01:00But we're dealing with the man who I believe is the most respected and the leader.
01:06You know, it's a little tough.
01:08We've wiped out everybody.
01:09Is that the Supreme Leader?
01:10The Supreme Leader?
01:11No, not the Supreme Leader.
01:12We don't...
01:13There's not much thought of it.
01:13Well, nobody's ever...
01:14Nobody heard of the second Supreme Leader, the Sun.
01:17Are these directly...
01:18Nobody...
01:18We have not heard from the Sun.
01:21Every once in a while, you'll see a statement made, but we haven't...
01:23We don't know if he's living.
01:25But the people that seem to be running it, and they seem that based on, really, fact,
01:31because things they've said have taken place.
01:34Mr. President...
01:43As I announced earlier, based on preliminary conversations between the United States and
01:49Iran over the past two days, I've directed the Department of War to temporarily postpone
01:54plans, strikes against major energy and electricity targets in Iran.
02:00They have very, very big, new, actually, and very expensive billions of dollars it cost
02:05to build them.
02:06One missile, one of our powerful ones, and it comes down to the ground like it was made
02:11out of dust.
02:12Now, Iran has one more opportunity to end its threats to America and her allies, and we
02:18hope they take it.
02:20Either way, America and the entire world will soon be much safer.
02:24And we'll be a much more secure planet.
02:27So we are now having really good discussions.
02:30They started last night, a little bit, the night before that.
02:37And I think they're, you know, I think they're very good.
02:40They want peace.
02:41They've agreed they will not have a nuclear weapon, you know, et cetera, et cetera.
02:45But we'll see.
02:46You have to get it done.
02:47But we'll see what happens.
02:48I think there's a very good chance we're going to end up in a deal.
02:51And so we're giving it five days, and then we're going to see where that takes us.
02:56And I would say at the end of this period, I think it could very well end up being a
03:00very
03:01good deal for everybody.
03:03As good as if we went all the way and just literally annihilated the place, which…
03:08Thank you very much.
