00:0550 years ago, a family car arrived in America with a big idea.
00:10To move expectations.
00:12And drivers were ready for something new.
00:15In 1976, the Honda Accord debuted.
00:19Offering something rare at the time.
00:21Efficiency without compromise.
00:23Quality without excess.
00:24And reliability you could trust.
00:27Accord helped transform the industry by proving that fuel-efficient cars could succeed in the U.S. market and reshape
00:33consumer expectations.
00:35In the early 70s, there was a gas crisis, which had really changed the types of vehicles people wanted, the
00:40types of vehicles people expected.
00:42There was a time and an opportunity for something new, and the Accord brought that.
00:46Through the decades, Accord became more than a car.
00:49It reflected American life.
00:51Built here.
00:52Designed for here.
00:54Driven everywhere.
00:56Building it in America are critical to the identity of what Accord is.
01:00Accord really is sort of our heart.
01:02And it's our soul in America.
01:03So having it be a vehicle that's produced in America is something that's really special to us.
01:08Frankly, every generation of Accord has some sort of breakthrough technology or some sort of significant thing.
01:13One of my personal favorites is the 1986 Accord, which was the Accord with the pop-up headlights.
01:19I think that really pushed the boundaries in the market in terms of styling.
01:23By 1989, the Accord reached a major milestone, becoming America's best-selling car and signaling
01:30a new era, one in which a Japanese nameplate claimed the top spot.
01:34With every generation, Accord introduced new advancements, raising safety and performance
01:39in the industry.
01:40Our new in-car entertainment technology, things like navigation that maybe we take for granted
01:45now.
01:45But in 2003, when that came out on Accord, that was a really significant feature to offer
01:50on a mainstream, mid-sized sedan.
01:53The Accord, for a very long time, has been a really fun car to drive.
01:57It's really engaging.
01:59It has, you know, the soul of a sports sedan wrapped in this family sedan package.
02:04There's something great about driving a sedan, hustling around corners, having something
02:08that can get you back and forth to work, get great fuel efficiency, but then also something
02:12that you can enjoy driving if you go on a road trip or even just a pleasure drive.
02:15I think it's a combination of the fun to drive, the styling, the simplicity, and then also
02:21the value for money, right?
02:22So there's something really great that we're able to offer with our sedan products.
02:26And that's another hallmark of Accord over time, is value for money.
02:29Today, Accord stands at the intersection of legacy and tomorrow, combining performance,
02:35efficiency and innovation for a new generation of drivers.
02:39Everything that a regular consumer looks at, they've nailed the brief.
02:43As Accord moves on, it's going to kind of continue to grow up and become even more of a sophisticated
02:48sports sedan.
02:49I think you're going to see an increased emphasis on the sporty side of it as we go forward
02:53and Accord continue to be something really exciting in the future.
02:5750 years of Accord in America, built on trust, craftsmanship, and forward thinking.
03:04Eyes set firmly on what comes next, still chasing the road ahead.
