00:00Welcome to the Tuning Blog Video, where we take a closer look at the fascinating Honda Zero SUV Prototype.
00:13At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Honda took a glimpse into the future of electromobility with its new new series.
00:22The Japanese car manufacturer is presenting two more developed prototypes.
00:26A sedan and an SUV, which are set to hit the market in 2026 and will thus herald a new era in e-mobility.
00:36Honda had already presented initial concepts for electromobility in 2024.
00:41But the current models show how seriously the Japanese are pursuing their vision.
00:46The Zero Series will be the starting point for a completely new range of electric vehicles.
00:50By 2030, Honda plans to introduce a total of seven new electric models worldwide.
00:58To this end, the company is investing around 56 billion euros in research, development and the establishment of new production capacities.
01:06This includes a modern EV and battery factory in Canada.
01:10In Allison, Ontario, 240,000 vehicles are expected to roll off the production line each year from 2028.
01:17The Honda N0 SUV prototype, which is of particular interest to us today, stands out significantly from its predecessor, the Spacehub concept from 2024.
01:27With a striking SUV front, an illuminated Honda logo and LED lighting elements consisting of 15 small units on each side, the vehicle looks modern and close to production.
01:37The high, solid rear end is also homage to the predecessor concept, but nevertheless remains independent and forward-looking.
01:47The focus of this model is on the use of space.
01:50A promise that is fulfilled thanks to the flat battery in the underbody.
01:53Technically, the SUV is based on a new IV platform with two electric motors that together produce 313 horsepower.
02:02The front motor produces 245 horsepower, the rear 68 horsepower.
02:08The energy is supplied by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 80 kilowatt-hours, which enables a range of up to 500 kilometers.
02:16So far, Honda has relied on a 400-volt architecture for the prototypes.
02:22However, a switch to a more competitive 800-volt technology could be made for the start of series production in 2026 in order to further reduce charging times.
02:33Another highlight is the integration of the new Asimo OS operating system, named after Honda's famous humanoid robot.
02:40This software was developed specifically for autonomous driving and enables level 3 automated driving.
02:49This means that in certain driving situations, the driver no longer has to pay attention to the road and can instead devote himself to other activities.
02:58Self-learning artificial intelligence complements the system and is intended to take the interaction between humans and vehicles to a completely new level.
03:05Honda is convinced that the Zero series will play a pioneering role in enabling driving without eye contact with the road.
03:16The Honda Zero SUV prototype is initially scheduled to be launched in North America from the beginning of 2026, before being available in Europe a little later.
03:28This model is not only a milestone for Honda, but also a statement about how electromobility could be shaped in the coming years.
03:35Lightweight construction through innovative pressing processes and improved space utilization are just as much a priority as reducing production costs in order to make the vehicles accessible to a wider customer base.
