01:09couch normally she would move like what's going on looking outside there's nothing outside like
01:13the hell and then i realized oh that's like thunder that's kind of i was outside chipping golf balls and
01:19i'm like sun's out but there is rumble there it was like a consistent rumble of thunder and i'm like
01:26this is going to hit comerica there is going to be a rain delay and then the ball was flying

01:31there yeah i guess uh humidity helps yeah because i i most of those home runs i'm thinking that's
01:38not typically a home run i don't think i mean uh riley green's opposite field that's going to get out

01:54tiger ace troy melton gave up four home runs that never happens

02:05the stat i think i saw he's giving up 10 home runs and 23 starts or something like that but
02:11four in this one yeah that's crazy yeah he uh he really you know look he's good truth is tosh
02:19bradley's good and he had probably he had problems with control and keeping the ball in the park
02:23um but overall good night for the tigers and uh you had dingler hit a bomb in the second dingler
02:30hit a bomb in the sixth you had double uh yeah double you had cary carpenter hit a two-run

02:44well i got fortunate on the torres hit sure the third baseman dove in front of the shortstop and
02:49if he doesn't dive it's a routine play for the shortstop but he dove and it kind of distracted
02:53the shortstop ball under his glove and went to the left field and that was good because glaber torres
02:59needed it he got off to such a hot start when he came back to the team and then was
03:03uh in a 0 for
03:0410 slump with eight strikeouts during this time so good for him to get that hit um i uh a
03:13lot to
03:13like what you saw then the bullpen is pitching outstanding lately and it's been 22 innings now
03:17of uh giving up just one run in the last 22 innings so what was it was four innings last
03:22night with five
03:23pitchers no runs a couple of hits and a couple of walks but you talk about you know the the
03:30marionette
03:30pulling the strings aj hinch working his way through the the twins in the back half of that game
03:35using five different pitchers in four innings and it it worked out i mean you looked at
03:42it was all along through the entire slump the one thing that was crazy is the starting pitching was
03:47actually keeping them in some games they were losing a lot of one run low scoring games
03:51and if the offense is coming around and the bullpen's coming around
03:58huh okay i'm not i'm not sure how to properly contextualize what we're seeing everybody will
04:03do it at their own level their own pace but they are now 11 games under 500 which is still
04:10pretty dramatically under right they're eight games out of first in the central
04:16they're now four and a half out of a wild card it doesn't seem that
04:22well that i mean as dawn it's certainly not as daunting as it was because winning six out of
04:27seven will do that to you um this goes back to one of my hallmark sayings in sports when you're
04:33on a
04:33losing streak you feel like you're never going to win again and we spent the better part of like a
04:37month and a half with that feeling we are a week and a day into this winning streak
04:44and it feels like yeah of course they're going to compete duh yeah because they didn't know that
04:51yeah i mean but the truth is always right in the middle but they're in the midst of one of
04:57these
04:57streaks where it feels like not only are they going to win they know they're going to win well and
05:04they have a chance to erase some some bad taste in their mouth right or rinse it out they they
05:11played
05:11minnesota before and it didn't go well they get they got swept in four games bradley right himself
05:16dominated them so that that's they've got a chance to uh you know gain some revenge there and then
05:21they got cleveland after this you know another series that did not go their way was that oh for
05:25seven in those seven games so they get six games against those two teams here and uh i feel like
05:32it
05:32was just a few weeks ago that i said wasn't i say like june 18th is gonna be my day
05:36or there's 18
05:37games what it was the cleveland series i said once it's done evaluate you were gonna make the call
05:42then and look they're if they're gonna hit everything changes and i mean dingler is developing
05:50into one of the best catchers in baseball they've got an early favorite to win american league rookie
05:55of the year they've got riley green having his best season they've got carrie carpenter his return
06:03to the lineup glaber torres returned to the line are just valuable bats and now i just named half
06:08the lineup and then yeah a lineup like that can do some damage and imagine if torque wakes up
06:16for and just his average torque okay you're talking 230 batting average but gonna hit a home run every
06:23couple days i mean there's i said it the other day they're in this weird spot because the the lane
06:31with scoobal is ending you know merge left and you're this is it with scoobal almost assuredly
06:37this is it it might not be but that's pretty much the vibe that we're going to get the one
06:44thing that
06:44could save scoobal and the tigers is a new work uh cba and i i think that's something to keep
06:49in mind
06:49because of where the teams are and the belief in competitive and balance even the dodgers i guess
06:56have approved 100 sharing of their tv revenue which is currently less they share less than 50
07:02of what they make and they have the biggest tv mutt deal in sports or in the in the sport
07:08and oh by the
07:09way if you haven't noticed the regional networks are dying and as we saw here in detroit that's
07:15happening all over and so tv deals for other teams are down the dodgers have this billion dollar deal
07:21that they barely have to share even they agree they have to share it and if that changes the
07:26dynamics maybe the tigers can't pay scoobal but they're in this weird place with that lane ending
07:32that i'm not sure there's any in between this year it's either buy or sell at the trade deadline
07:37yeah and and because they're playing well and because they're getting the rotation back you know
07:43we're going to get scoobal back this week and then you've got verlander probably back monday maybe
07:49maybe tuesday sometime next week whenever they play early in the week uh casey mize pitched last
07:54night on a rehab stint when five innings gave up just one run looks like he'll be back real soon
07:59because they're getting these guys back and and it's going to displace somebody out of the starting
08:04lineup out of the starting rotation you can actually still think about doing both things trading scoobal
08:11and adding at the trade deadline you can do both and it's it's up to you if you want to

08:17that needle or not do you want to you know it's it's difficult to think this team can could chase
08:23after a world series without terek scoobal and yet is it the way pitching has gone and can go
