00:02Sixteen foreign nationals were detained during an integrated enforcement operation around
00:07Pudu Market in Jalan Yu, Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday.
00:11The operation, which began at 6am, was conducted by Kuala Lumpur City Hall in collaboration
00:19with the Immigration Department.
00:22Authorities targeted foreign nationals selling fresh produce, vegetables and fruits without
00:27authorisation and in violation of their work permit conditions.
00:31DBKL said enforcement action was taken against 22 unlicensed traders, comprising 13 foreign
00:38nationals and 9 Malaysians.
00:41Their goods were seized and removed for operating without licences and obstructing public spaces.
00:47Compound notices were also issued to owners of unauthorised stalls under the Hawkers Licensing
00:53Bylaws and the Street, Drainage and Building Act.
00:56Meanwhile, immigration officers screened 62 migrants from Bangladesh, Indonesia and Myanmar
01:03during the operation.
01:05Of that number, 16 were detained for allegedly being in the country without valid passes,
01:11permits or travel documents.
01:13All detainees were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Depot for further action.
