00:00The Immigration Department has foiled attempts to smuggle Indonesian migrants into the country in two simultaneous raids at Terminal Bersepadu
00:09Gombak and Terminal Bersepadu Selatan on Saturday.
00:14Immigration Director General Datuk Zakaria Shaban said officers tracked a group of Indonesian nationals traveling from Kelantan to the Klang
00:23Valley via express buses.
00:25A total of 10 Indonesian migrants and a transporter, aged between 27 and 60, were detained during the operation.
00:34A vehicle used in the operation was also seized.
00:38Zakaria said investigations revealed that the syndicate had shifted tactics, using complex land and air routes to avoid detection.
00:45Migrants were reportedly moved through multiple transit points, including Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand's Hat Yai, before illegally entering Malaysia through
00:55the Malaysia-Thailand border.
00:57They were then transported to Kuala Lumpur using express buses, often traveling overnight to avoid enforcement.
01:04Authorities believe the syndicate, led by an Indonesian national, operated through a structured network managing transport, accommodation and falsified travel
01:16documents.
01:17Each migrant is believed to have paid between RM3,500 and RM4,000 for illegal entry into the country.
01:25All detainees have been placed under investigation under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007,
01:36as well as the Immigration Act 1959-63.
