Collingwood continue to lack the desired support for superstar Nick Daicos, with their poor depth costing them in the King's Birthday clash against Melbourne.

00:00That day yesterday at the MCG for the Big Freeze 12 was exactly fit for a King.
00:04King Neil Danaher, who sadly we lost not long ago.
00:07But it was an amazing day yesterday at the MCG.
00:10The atmosphere, the environment, the community that came together to support Big Freeze again.
00:15There was a couple that donated $40 million that we found out last night to the court,
00:19which is quite off the charts.
00:21But the game was brilliant.
00:24It was the right game for the right day at the right time.
00:27And we got exactly what we're after on the King's birthday.
00:29It was fit for King Neil and glad that it did.
00:32Because he has, I was thinking about this through last week.
00:34There's not too many people in life that are able to impact whole communities through their time on the planet.
00:42Neil Danaher started a movement, an amazing movement that will transform that MND,
00:48the beast that is MND, and the research and the opportunity to find a cure for that.
00:52He's transformed that almost single-handedly.
00:55And the whole country's come with him.
00:56It's been quite a special decade working with Neil, 12 years working with Neil on the MND thing.
01:02And yesterday we had an amazing day, even though he wasn't there.
01:05No, it was huge.
01:06And it was a finals-like atmosphere, wasn't it?
01:08And the pressure.
01:09Yep, the game itself.
01:10A lot of mistakes, but the pressure was there.
01:11You've got to admire that.
01:12Everyone had a crack.
01:14Neither team really had the silk up forward to finish it off.
01:17Apart from Fritch, who...
01:19Had some moments, yeah.
01:20Good to see him back.
01:21I think he'd frustrate you as a coach, as an opposition supporter.
01:24Does anyone like Bailey Fritch apart from his teammates?
01:26But he revels in that.
01:27You know, the hair, everything.
01:29He's one of those irritating players.
01:31The hair.
01:32He was talking about the hair after the game.
01:34He said the players, it's amazing how many players have a crack at me about my hair.
01:39Well, I'm very jealous of his hair.
01:40But even Melbourne supporters at times would be frustrated with Fritch.
01:42He doesn't pass the ball when he should.
01:44But then he steps up and kicks amazing goals.
01:47And we spoke about Dacos.
01:48The reliance on Dacos clearly now is unhealthy.
01:51Yep.
01:52Had a big day, 35-2 for Nick yesterday.
01:55Another big day numbers-wise.
01:57But his 35 wasn't as impactful as they can be.
01:59This is the thing with Nick.
02:00Because he's forced to do everything all over the ground,
02:02you never get the maximum damage out of him just at the minute.
02:06Great to see him go forward and kick some goals.
02:07I do love that component of his game.
02:09He's added that to his game.
02:10And that's helping.
02:11But imagine if he had some more support.
02:12Imagine if he had Lachie Neal.
02:14Not that he's the perfect list fit for them demographic-wise.
02:17But imagine if he had another real quality inside mid floating around just to support him.
02:21Imagine how good that could be.
02:22Yeah.
02:22I think that's a huge chance to happen half.
02:24But it was a thrilling game.
02:26Obviously, Majerczyk was deeply concerning watching that.
02:28Absolutely, yeah.
02:29He's got now feeling back for a short time there.
02:32There were concerns.
02:32And that really left a sickening feeling in your stomach.
02:37It's a tough game, footy, isn't it?
02:38And touch wood, we've been so lucky with these spinal situations.
02:42Well, the game started so well, of course.
02:45We talked about the Big Freeze 12 and the slides and all the energy that that created.
02:48And when that happened, the whole air went out of the room, the MCG, for the last eight minutes of
02:53that second quarter.
02:54And it took a bit of time to regather some momentum and some atmosphere at the G on the back
02:59of that.
03:00And fair enough, too, because it was incredibly scary, that situation for Brody Majerczyk.
03:03We hope he's okay.
03:05But it was the Ds that found a way to win.
03:08Lead changes all the way through the second half.
03:10He talked about the pressure.
03:11And then Cozzy had some moments late.
03:13He did.
03:13Where you thought, oh, this is going to be just a Cozzy festival and he's going to win it off
03:16his own boot.
03:17Then he misses the one around the corner.
03:19He kicks one out on the full.
03:20And then with a minute to go, he takes a mark inside 50 and plays on.
03:23Could have done a Harry Mackay.
03:25Could have done a Harry Mackay.
03:26Run down the 30 seconds, just played on and rammed it through.
03:28But that's what he does.
03:29Tight jumper, baggy shorts.
03:30He's got it all happening.
03:32But he's an exciting player to watch.
03:34And Braden Maynard, shout out to him, too.
03:36Half of you have dislocated a shoulder.
03:38He came back on twice.
03:39No.
03:40No.
03:40So I'm no Medico, but I've been around long enough and followed Medicos and speak to Medicos regularly.
03:46I'd be surprised if he plays again this year.
03:48They'll have a decision to make whether they try and strengthen it for three or four weeks.
03:52But I think that the state of the season where Collingwood's at, the fact that it was already taped up,
03:56I'd think he'd need a reconstruction which would finish off Maynard for the season and get him right for next
04:01year.
04:01It certainly wouldn't help the Pies' defensive system and line-up.
04:04But they've got enough troubles back there at the moment.
04:06So that's a problem.
04:07We'll see what happens there with Braden Maynard.
04:10We'll see you next time.
