03:40Researchers on a Greenpeace expedition are exploring the Arctic deep sea,
03:45one of the least known wildernesses on Earth.
03:47More specifically, they are exploring the so-called banana hole
03:51to search for undiscovered species and ancient ecosystems.
03:55The banana hole is a remote and mysterious area of the Arctic high seas
03:59that lies in international waters located between Norway and Greenland.
04:04Greenpeace says it is home to seamounts or underwater mountains,
04:08as well as volcanic hot springs,
04:10which it says acts as a living library of our planet's history.
04:15However, despite of its importance,
04:18the environmental organization says the banana hole is under threat of deep-sea mining.
04:23The Greenpeace vessel departed earlier this month for a month-long expedition
04:27to raise awareness on the danger of deep-sea mining.
04:30They are now live-streaming from depths down to 3,000 meters until the 30th of May,
04:36and the expedition is expected to last until early June.
