00:00What are the best places in Europe for a food trip this summer?
00:09Eating local is one of the best parts of traveling, but in the most popular places
00:14it can also mean stumbling into tourist traps. Mediocre food at best, often at sky-high prices,
00:21and as more travelers watch their wallets, a new index ranked the European cities with the most
00:27Michelin-approved eat-like-local restaurants in Europe, including Turkey. One exception aside,
00:34it's mostly a Franco-Italian affair, though a couple of cities might catch you by surprise.
00:39Venice tops the ranking by a mile, with 18 local restaurants awarded the coveted title,
00:45and you may also be able to see lots of flamingos in the lagoon as you dine there.
00:51Istanbul, Marseille and Nice share second place, with ten eat-like-local restaurants each.
00:58Just one step behind we have Rome, Genoa and Strasbourg, with nine.
01:03Some travelers want to go a step further and learn how to cook local food themselves,
01:08and here Rome comes out on top. The Italian capital offers more than 300 cooking classes,
01:14perfect for mastering carbonara, cacio e pepe, or fried zucchini flowers. Florence ranks second with 250,
01:23and Paris rounds out the podium with 135.
