00:00Ubisoft has made some pretty big changes to combat in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced,
00:04so you might want to rethink relying on those old OP strategies.
00:08Paul Fu, the game's creative director, said that, at its core, Resynced is an action-adventure
00:12game and the combat is designed to be systematic and deliberate.
00:15Every move is designed to have an advantage, a disadvantage and a specific role to play.
00:20In other words, it's less about button mashing and more about actually thinking through what
00:24you're doing.
00:24There are some obvious additions, like a new heavy attack and dodge attack, but the real
00:28shake-up comes from the enemies.
00:29They're a lot smarter this time around.
00:31Ubisoft says they'll react to repetitive behaviour and punish you if you keep spamming the same
00:36tactic.
00:36So for example, if you hang back waiting to parry all the time, enemies will start using
00:40unstoppable attacks that can't be parried.
00:42Lean too hard on kicks, and they'll just start dodging them.
00:45Basically, if you get predictable, they'll call you out on it.
00:48That said, you can still play around with the system.
00:50Fu explains that the key is to mix things up.
00:53He says the trick is to alternate between offence and defence.
00:55Varying your combos helps.
00:57Rotate between kicks, sweeps, rope darts, pistols and heavy strikes at the end of your
01:01attack combos to confuse enemies.
01:03It sounds like combat is going to feel a lot more dynamic, but could maybe be a bit less
01:07forgiving.
