00:00The Transport Ministry is offering about 3,200 job opportunities for retired Armed Forces
00:06personnel through a collaboration with the Defence Ministry to advance technical and
00:11vocational education and training and expand career pathways for veterans.
00:16Transport Minister Luxu Phuk said the jobs include roles in ports, logistics, bus transport
00:22and the rail industry.
00:25He said the Ministry is prioritising logistics, especially lorry and bus drivers, due to
00:31a major manpower shortage and stressed that military personnel are needed to help fill
00:36the gap.
00:38He added that the port sector also has great potential with many jobs available.
00:43Malaysia sometimes relies on foreign labour, but a platform for ex-military personnel would
00:48help meet this need.
00:50Lux said it is his ministry's responsibility to ensure ATM members retire with clear post-retirement
00:57pathways, noting they bring discipline, integrity and resilience with them.
01:02He also announced that veterans can convert their military driving licences into civilian
01:07Class E licences at no cost through the Ex-Servicemen Affairs Corporation.
01:12The move saves RM4,000 to RM5,000 and enables direct placement into logistics companies with the
01:20Road Transport Department facilitating licence issuance.
