00:01New Malaysian passports will be valid for 10 years at a cost of RM350,
00:06according to a government gazette issued yesterday.
00:09The Gazette, signed by Chief Secretary Shamsul Azri Abubakar,
00:14said those aged 60 and above would only be charged RM175.
00:20Passports are issued free of charge for those who hold persons with disabilities cards.
00:26Malaysians are currently charged RM200 for a passport with a five-year validity,
00:31while senior citizens pay RM100.
00:34The Gazette also outlined the fees for replacing damaged or lost passports,
00:39including RM550 for the first replacement for citizens aged 13 to 59, up from RM400 previously.
00:49A second replacement will cost RM850,
00:51and subsequent replacements will incur a fee of RM1,350.
