00:24This is according to a new study which analyzed protest intensity,
00:27media attention, tourist tax rates and visitor-to-resident ratios
00:32across 30 countries around the world.
00:34Spain ranks first as anti-tourism protests have spread to more than 40 cities nationwide,
00:39from Barcelona to the Canary Islands.
00:42More than two tourists visit Spain for every resident,
00:45putting enormous pressure on housing and public spaces.
00:49Italy takes second place with protests seen in Venice, Rome, Florence, Naples and Milan.
00:55Some activists have sabotaged key boxes used by short-term rental landlords.
01:01France ranks fourth among the 30 countries and third among the European countries analyzed.
01:06It has seen nationwide protests in Marseille, Nice and Paris,
01:10alongside growing activism against cruise ships,
01:13reflecting active resident resistance across both mainland and coastal destinations.
01:18In contrast, Cyprus and Albania are the most welcoming to visitors,
