Winter Olympics: Which Europeans are splurging the most on tickets?

Northern Italy is gearing up for a massive tourism surge in February, when the Winter Olympics kick off in Milan and Cortina.

00:25to the same period in 2025. The biggest year-on-year growth will come from the Netherlands, followed
00:31by Canada, Germany, the US, Finland, France and the United Kingdom. Among Italian airports,
00:38Milan Linate is set to handle the largest passenger flows, with arrivals up by more than 450%,
00:46followed by Milan Malpensa, Verona and Bergamo. Closer to Cortina, Venice and Treviso airports
00:52will also see steep climbs of 75 and 40% respectively. The event seems particularly popular with Americans
01:01who have so far spent the most on tickets among international visitors, 35% of foreign sales.
01:10Germans and Canadians are also expected to show up in large numbers, along with a notable share
01:17of Swiss, Brits and French winter sports fans. When it comes to individual spending, however,
01:24Australians top the list with an average outlay of 2,600 euros.
