00:07Copenhagen, Lisbon and Vienna are considered to be the most livable European cities in the world.
00:13Out of 75 cities analyzed, 13 European cities make the world's top 20 most exciting and interesting places to live.
00:21This is according to the Monocle's 2026 Quality of Life survey,
00:25which analyzed different criteria such as safety, connectivity, retail and green space.
00:30More than 80% of the world's population now lives in towns and cities, according to a United Nations report,
00:37and this figure is set to rise further.
00:40Copenhagen is the top European city on the list due to its urban cycling, a booming restaurant scene
00:46and many retail options in the city center, according to Monocle.
00:50The capital of Denmark consistently makes the top spots.
00:53It previously ranked first in the whole world in 2021 and 2022.
00:58In these years' ranking, Lisbon follows as the next most livable European city,
01:03with the report highlighting its many hours of sunshine, vibrant food scene and stunning architecture,
01:09as well as its independent retail scene and safety.
01:12Vienna ranks fourth in the whole ranking and third among European cities.
01:17The Austrian capital is praised for being the stage for international events,
01:21as well as for its vineyards and municipal swimming pools.
01:24However, the city has seen a drop in its ranking since it was first in 2023.
