00:01Scambling is a fake gambling-style scam.
00:04Criminals lure unsuspecting victims to fake websites using pop-ups or apps that mirror
00:10betting or casino-style experiences, but the winnings are never real.
00:16The goal here is simple – they're after your money and personal information.
00:22Our data shows that people are most likely to be targeted in the evenings between the
00:26hours of 6pm at midnight, with activity peaking between 7pm and 9pm.
00:32The best advice is to remain vigilant and sceptical.
00:35If you're unsure, pause and assess.
00:37Don't trust winnings you didn't earn.
00:39And if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
00:42Don't click through on ads or pop-ups, and be mindful of unusual links, which are really
00:49common in scambling messages.
00:51If you're unsure, report it to us through the My Telstra app.
00:55And finally, be wary of payment requests through PayID or Bank Transfer.
