01:00Even after those matchpoints, when I didn't manage to take them, when I was 6-5 up, I'm happy that
01:08even after that I stayed mentally focused and calm and managed to level up my game in the tiebreak and
01:17be the one who managed to take it.
01:26Well done today. I know the mental side of the game is important to you.
01:30Can I just ask how you were able to kind of reset after the disappointment of missing those six matchpoints,
01:36there was the smash to then come and play like a pretty flawless tiebreak?
01:45Yeah, I don't know. Like I said, of course, at the time I was just in the zone and I
01:54mean, I don't even know that probably I was focusing that on the score.
01:58I was more focusing on my game, on my performance and just on myself.
02:04At the time, even if the crowd erupted, I couldn't hear anything.
02:11Basically, I was that much in the zone and so focused that actually I was just focusing on every other
02:18point.
02:20And yeah, I mean, second serve, maybe it was out, maybe it was in, I don't know.
02:26Like you said, the smash that I miss hit, but there was so many other great shots from my side,
02:33it was just at the moment that, yes, it was on the matchpoint, but I mean, like I'm saying, I'm
02:41happy that even with that long, long games and basically when the momentum was coming on his side, I was
02:50still managed to level up my game in the tiebreak.
02:54Hello, Jacob. Well done tonight. Your clay season before this Roland-Garros was pretty average, I guess, three wins, three
03:02loss.
03:03What made you, I mean, able to play at this level here in Roland-Garros at this level of confidence,
03:11commitment?
03:11And if I'm not wrong, you've played Sacha Zverev during this clay season in Madrid with a short loss.
03:20I mean, what are the takeaways of this match?
03:25Yeah, I mean, before the tournament, I was saying in the interviews that, of course, the clay season, it didn't
03:36went how I wanted, not in result way, but in the way how basically it went.
03:42And I was so unlucky with basically the beginning of the clay court season when I was basically already prepared
03:50for my match in Monte Carlo.
03:52Unfortunately, I got infection in my toe.
03:55Then I got virus, which made me out for another two weeks before Madrid.
04:02I practiced just three, four days.
04:04I came to Madrid, yeah, without any matches, even if I reach, you know, the fourth round still or third,
04:14I don't know.
04:15I want two matches there.
04:17Still, I was not feeling good.
04:19And basically, because of the toe and because of the virus, I was more focusing on the things that they
04:27were outside of the court, which means what to do to be able to play.
04:33So, actually, when you are focusing on that, it's actually a lot of ups and downs.
04:41And before Roland-Garros, I was finally, you know, healthy.
04:45I already managed all the things that I needed to do.
04:49And I was basically super happy that I could come to Roland-Garros finally, you know, good prepared, without any
04:57injury, playing pain-free.
04:59And, yeah, as the tournament is going, I'm playing better and better.
05:05And even with the match with Sasha in Madrid, of course, it was a close one.
05:11It's the best of three.
05:13I mean, right now it's, you know, some different situation.
05:19Of course, semifinals, I would say.
05:21Bigger match, best of five.
05:24So, I mean, yeah, I'm excited for the challenge.
05:32Kuba, congratulations.
05:33Heartfelt congratulations.
05:35And, you know, kudos for you being such a modest sportsman.
05:39We all know that your relationship with Novak Djokovic has been quite special.
05:43And there was this famous training session in Montenegro where you got to know each other much, much better.
05:49Was that an occasion or maybe some other occasion in which he passed on some of these secrets of managing
05:56Grand Slam challenges that you may be applying now in this fantastic run?
06:02I mean, I mean, of course, the relationship that we had and we are having with Novak, it's so special.
06:09And I'm super thankful for that.
06:11And basically that at the time when I was still not even starring on an ATV tour, I was still
06:19a junior that he invited me.
06:21He saw some potential in me.
06:23And yeah, at the time it was really, really amazing experience.
06:28Of course, at the time I was not even...
06:40I had a bad movement and now that I'm fine.
06:44Sorry.
06:45No, so, yeah, of course, at that moment I was not still, you know, able to play on the Grand
06:56Slam.
06:57So, at the time it was more about, like, to get to know the tour and how the things works.
07:05And actually, as I went through and, you know, having the experience on the Grand Slam, that was probably the
07:14key moment for me to take those experiences
07:17and to see experiences and to manage to play on the Grand Slam, that's how I'm playing.
07:27Congratulations on your win.
07:29You had some physical issues, end of the second set, start of the third set.
07:33How are you feeling physically right now?
07:35Yeah, I mean, first two sets I was controlling the game pretty, pretty well.
07:45I was controlling the game on the serve, on the return.
07:48I was super calm and very focused on the momentum was on my side.
07:53Unfortunately, at the end of the second set, I started to feel some discomfort in my left leg, which was
08:02irritating me during the serve.
08:06So, I mean, I was, of course, afraid if, what is that?
08:10Fortunately, it was just a tight muscle, but because of that, I dropped my focus a little bit.
08:15So, that's why the beginning of the third set was not how I could, how I wanted, but as the
08:26match and as the third set was going through and it was getting more intense,
08:33the pain, like, started to drop down a little bit and I started to not feel the pain at all,
08:41which, obviously, I'm super happy that it's nothing serious.
08:44And that, then, after and during the third set, that, again, I was able to locked in and to play
08:52again, to play again my game.
