00:03Alex Badluck, could you run us through what happened then in your eyes?
00:11Yeah, look, pretty disappointing, missed opportunity, just foot off the gas,
00:24so I let him back into the match and then just, you know,
00:35a little bit of what's been happening the last month,
00:38I just couldn't get out of, you know, the cycle and, yeah, very unlike me,
00:45very disappointed in myself because, I mean, under all kind of circumstances,
00:55this is the type of match that, you know, I need to find a way to win.
01:02He's come from a physical battle, I'm fresh as they come, yeah,
01:12I mean, it's just, it's not good.
01:20Is that taking the foot off the gas, which I suppose you referred to,
01:24that period at the start of the second,
01:26and is that a bit of a by-product of, you know, you had a week last week,
01:30but not having maybe as many matches given that difficult a period?
01:34Yeah, I don't know.
01:35Yeah, I really, I mean, the stuff that's kind of been happening last month
01:43is stuff that hasn't really happened to me in my career before, right,
01:49so I'm just trying to find reasons and, yeah, solutions for it,
01:57but it's not problems that I've had before, right, and the contrary, you know.
02:03I've always felt like I'm that guy, you know, a dog with a bone,
02:08just won't let go, won't stop until the very end, and, you know,
02:15today I just, yeah, I don't really understand what happened,
02:23what I did, what changed, and just, you know, let him back in, and, yeah.
02:31Does that make it even more disappointing,
02:33the fact you'd never lost to him before,
02:35and as you were just saying,
02:36he'd gone through that grueling match in the previous round?
02:40Yeah, I don't need more reasons to be disappointed in myself.
02:43I mean, right now I'm pretty gutted, and, yeah, there's many reasons
02:54why I'm disappointed in myself,
02:57and many reasons of which I feel like I should have been better today
03:04and should have found a way, so, yeah, it's not great.
03:09Another question?
03:12Yeah, it was, obviously, this time last year, you know,
03:16after the public thing, it was a similar, very hard time again.
03:21You regrouped and went on a good run after that.
03:25I mean, presumably, that's what you have to do now.
03:29I mean, that's what I'm hoping for, right?
03:32I'm hoping to kind of bounce back, just brush it off again,
03:42but I don't know.
03:43It's, you know, I feel like you only get so many opportunities in, you know,
03:55your career, and you've got to be ready to take them,
03:59and when you don't take them, it's gut-wrenching, right?
04:03And especially a day like today that I was in the driver's seat.
04:09Things were feeling well.
04:11I was hitting the ball well, physically fine, and just, yeah,
04:17I'm going to have to find a way to do as I did last year,
04:21but it's back-to-back years where I've kind of had a pretty disappointing
04:28just, like, stint here or tournament even here at a French Open.
04:34So I guess the good thing is I've got the grass coming off,
04:39which is a part of the year which I always really enjoy,
04:42and I'm hoping that I can kind of get back to where I should be
04:49and the type of player I should be whenever I step out on court.
04:54So that's going to be the goal, but, yeah,
04:58first I need to forget about today somehow.
05:05Alex, how do you sort of try to regroup?
05:07I mean, do you take time off?
05:08Do you...
05:09What do you feel has worked for you in the past?
05:15Yeah, look, I don't know.
05:17I really don't know.
05:18I'm in a weird stage at the moment where I've put in a lot,
05:30and, yeah, recently I have felt like I've gotten a lot back.
05:36So trying to find that balance of whether, you know, it's, again,
05:42you just put your head down and get back to work and just, you know,
05:46there's no other way forward than to go through, right?
05:50And that's kind of the mentality I've had my whole career,
05:54but I feel like it's been, you know, a long couple of years
05:58of that type of mentality, and maybe that's taking a little bit of a toll
06:05on me right now.
06:06So I don't know.
06:09I really don't know what the solution is, whether it's, you know,
06:13to go out and try to play matches and get confidence back
06:16and get wins under the belt and just go that way or the opposite.
06:22Just say, hey, let's forget about tennis for a little while.
06:29Let's make sure I come back missing it and, you know, get back on the horse.
06:38I don't know how I'll have to talk to the team and kind of decide
06:42in the coming days.
06:44Just ask one more on, you know, the Sinner yesterday going out.
06:52Djokovic has gone out now.
06:53I mean, did that make a big, mentally, do you think people were thinking?
06:58I mean, look, I would like to think that it wouldn't have affected me,
07:06but maybe it did.
07:09Look, I really don't know right now.
07:13Obviously, where I'm sitting right now, I feel like it's a wasted opportunity.
07:19And as I said, there's not, you know, many times you get these types
07:25of opportunities or even in my career, I feel like I haven't really been handed
07:30too many, you know, of these opportunities.
07:33Normally, I'm at the tail end of tournaments.
07:36I'm playing, you know, these top players and it kind of feels like the door's
07:41been kind of shut in front of me.
07:43And, you know, once in a blue moon, you get an opportunity like this
07:50and you have to be able to take it.
07:52And I did exactly the opposite today.
07:55So back to the drawing board.
08:00I need to be better.
08:02I need to deal with, you know, not just the match today,
08:07but situations better and really need to kind of find that kind of fire and hunger,
08:18you know, because I think it's been lacking a little bit.
08:24all right.
08:27Thank you.
