00:23I was offered 72 providers or 54 providers and I rang every one of them. Not one of them actually
00:32operated in this area including Brunswick Shire Council in Victoria who thought it was hilarious and Nambour Shire Council who
00:41thought it very odd that they were listed for somewhere in central New South Wales.
00:45I have been allocated to providers. When we needed help no one answered the phone. Finally after I made an
00:56official complaint they admitted they do not have workers in this area and they never have had workers in this
01:03area.
01:04But there is no penalty. Aged care do not check that the providers they advertise can actually provide those services
01:14or are even in the areas where they say they provide services.
01:19If a builder said they could build homes and couldn't. That would be false advertising. False advertising that leads to
01:27people's illness or even death in any other industry would lead to a jail sentence.
01:33But those providers who left us stranded in a time of desperation have had no penalty whatsoever. This is an
01:44area where there are laws but the laws are simply ignored and not administered. It's too much work.
